- Capt. John Halkias was my guest on the boat as we jigged stripers and blackfish on a 34-degree morning! We saw adult bunker blasted on top as the spring run is heating up. Supports my latest book, Fishing the Edge - Techniques and Tales from Surf, Boat, and Kayak: amzn.to/3TQtFvq.

That follow you had with the spoon was awesome! Those moments make my heart thump!
One of the best shows on TH-cam
When does the striper run start? The day John Skinner moves back up to long island 😂
That is a nice first fish!!!!!!❤
Love watching you guy's videos. Definitely entertaining and educational. Thanks! 👍
gotta love the retirement life. florida to back home best wishes !!!!!
Great video. 2 of my favorite you tubers . Fishing together always enjoy watching guys thank you !
Save us some fish John lol , keep killing the game 💪🏽💥
That was a good trip. I've been complaining when the temp is 51* in the morning here in Virginia.
Reminds me of winter fishing on Lake Texoma, great stuff.
John’s back that means fishing is back on Long Island 🎉
Guy on facebook marketplace is selling spoons 5+ ounces at a very reasonable price. MTK tackle is the brand name. I ordered 4 colors and like the quality very much. I cannot wait to see how they catch fish.
What’s the info on the spoons ?
@@jamesrumsey1061 I picked up the standard colors, white, chartreuse, gold and stainless.....9" lures with heavy hardware, split rings and treble hooks.
Some videos in great south bay (around patchogue) would be asome
Gotta love May on the North Fork….
Man, I bet you miss that Florida weather lol
Just rewatched last year first NE trip video…April 30th-“it’s cold I’m gonna come back north a week later next year.” 😆
Hi John, thanks for all of the great videos!
I loved the jigging jerks tour of your boat. I'm about to start working on my old StarCraft 16. I'm putting twin 30s on it. I'm still trying to decide what to do with the floor plan. It's funny you are basically jigging a mini mojo with the bucktail
Twin 30's on a 16ft tin - cool!
Need some boat reviews. How to rig a shitbox to out-fish the fleet
16:20 You're welcome Skinner :)
Thanks again for a great day on the water!
Bact in NY.? Welcome back.
Hope you have your Baerskin vest on underneath!
I do!
John, I have always admired the capabilities of your aluminum boats. Wondering if one like them would be good for near shore fishing in RI. Can you describe the water/weather conditions that may prevent you from taking them out please? Thank you….Mark
It doesn't matter that it's aluminum. You have to match specific boats to safe conditions.
Big difference from Florida 😂
It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to find your swing hook bucktails , any suggestions ? Thanks.
Love all your videos John , just curious , why don’t you ever keep a striped bass ? They taste delicious
I feel there's enough pressure on that slot and I rather eat other fish anyway.
Hey john, love your opening comment. Been boating for a long time and yes the first trip always a little nervous... tin boat member sandy hook nj
skinster
Nice work guys. Is that 2000 tsunami a true 2k? I use a 2000 for trout it’s small. I use penn pursuit lv 3 and 4 k. In the sound.
It's more like a 2500.
Nice catching. Skunk for me today. S and SW winds past couple days kicked up the seaweed.
A shipment of the new Nichols 9" Thick Boy spoons are supposed to arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to try them.
Do you make the jigs anymore?
Soon.
Just put boat in water and fixing a few things. But now I have FOMO. Damn.
I was trying to wipe away the moon on the ride out 😂😂 I thought it was a speck of paint. I'm a big fan of things working the way they are supposed to as you say.
Hey Mr. Skinner! You going to try to catch a fluke tomorrow morning?
Yes. Halkias still doesn't have his boat ready so I'm taking him in my boat. I have low expectations.
Me as well on all counts. Ill give you a wave from a 17’ mako if i see you, good luck!
Down here in Massachusetts waiting from them to make there way
Awesome, that spot always has a ton of bass. What structure were the blacks on?
Just some high rocky spots.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I'm doing decent during the day, night trips have been mostly a bust so far. That will change!
Woohoo
by the way got 3 of your rods
Thanks for your support! Enjoy!
John’s back where he belongs!!
