I rented one of these, a convertible, in Florida a couple of weeks ago. It was a blast to drive! Now I'm thinking about buying one for summer fun. I live in WI, so a car like this would get parked for half the year.
The lack of option for a manual transmission makes the 2024 a no go for me. My 6MT base 2018 ecoboost is a lot more fun than driving an automatic. I stage 1 tune, strut tower brace, Steeda clutch spring, CAI and custom exhaust and it’s easily 350 brake hp. Next mod will be an intercooler to mitigate heat soak. Mod will also allow for stage 2 tune. It’s a daily driver, but it’s also a fun weekend car for driving twisty roads. 30+ hwy mpg doesn’t hurt either.
I live in a small town of 20,000. Longtime Mustang owner here, on my 9th one since 1990. That said, I don't know a single fellow Mustang owner who wants a 7th gen. In fact, our local Ford dealer has had 5 new one's on their lot for well over a month now. All 5 are GT's. 4 are premium. 4 different colors (2 of them are Carbonized Gray). Nobody is buying them, and they are all being advertised for a couple thousand below MSRP and have been for a couple weeks now. I did a special order on my current one, a '23 that I decided to get after watching the live reveal last September and seeing just how disappointing things were. Not just cosmetic stuff, but I also don't want ipods just stuck onto a dash, or a locked ECU, or a stupid high price for a car that isn't as attractive in my eyes as my '23. Ford really let us down. I might just be owning the last Mustang I'll ever buy at this point. And after being a fan of the brand for 30+ years that should give Ford management a pause when they read the ever growing list of commenters like mine that I see and hear everywhere these days.
i have a 2017 eb that i got for a little under 20k several years back and for that price its been great but for 40k... id straight up choose something else. much better performance can be had at that price. still love mine though! been a fun, quick daily during my college years.
Hey Rob! No, this one has a smaller turbo. Not sure what the exact size is, but I do know it is smaller and a different design than the one in the 20' - 23' ecoboost high-performance package
As a current 2020 ecoboost owner who has the 10 speed and knows exactly what you mean by them being “just ok”. I’m curious if they redesigned the transmission, or if this is a tune to the trans which could be flashed backwards to the older 10 speeds.
I've been blown off by an ecoboost automatic before, in my S197 3V 4.6L with stick.. later on I bought a car that will totally annihilate the ecoboost (0-60 in 3.7s is what my car can do) but yeah. I don't own the S197 any more. "just ok" maybe not but there's other options out there for a little more cash.
I don't like calling the mustang eco boost an ecoboost I call it the the 2.3 since it has a 2.3 badge and only ford to not the the eco boost badge same with Broncos.
I cannot stand what they have done to the dashboard. It now looks lie a Kia inside instead of a sportscar. And modern instrumentation is for the video game obsessed-what a sad joke. The 2023 Mustang was a better looking car inside and out. And you could get a manual with the Ecoboost.
I was never a big Mustang fan, but this EcoBoost is growing on me.

Most likely just tuned differently. Even with aftermarket tunes, the trans is still iffy in s550 10 speeds
