Come on, Hsieh is tricky thanks to her to ability to hit the ball early after the bounce but she is too slow to counter players who come to play fast and high balls: watch how she was crushed by Sarapova at French Open in 2013 or by Elise Mertens last year at Rabat. Hsieh's game is monotonous: the only balls that get out off her racket are flat hit balls. That is the reason why she is so low ranked.

They showed great anticipation, awareness and tactical nous against the trickiest tennis player in WTA. All others simply try to power past Su, which is too one-dimensional a strategy and one Su has faced her entire career.
Granted Su-Wei has beaten a ton of number 1s and former number 1s. She beat Osaka when Osaka had just won a few slams in a row, Wozniacki I believe the same year she won the US Open, Kerber, Halep when she was seeded like 3, and at least a few other number 1s and 2s. I think had Su-Wei had a better match she could've made it *relatively* competitive

While the two players cannot be more different, Serena really showed why she was the GOAT. Instead of trying to overpower Hsieh, she used a lot of touch and angles. Good that Hsieh is still playing doubles. So wonderful to watch.

Here Serena demonstrates how you beat a pusher. She stays really aggressive forces the pusher(Wei)in difficult shot situations. She keeps hitting hard and deep shots at Wei to keep Wei from throwing her best junk at Serena. Serena puts away all Wei's short balls.

No matter the angle or length thrown at her, she dealt well with all because her excellent cardio and mobility allowed her to. I'm sure most players know what to do, but just can't make it happen. With Serena, even when stretched out wide or made to scramble, she got to the ball with enough time to get ready, get into position and choose where to hit to. Su Wei's only effective against those who don't have the top tier athleticism, mobility and technique Serena's got. Plus Serena's dealt with a lot more variety and talen than Su Wei has, so this kind of tennis isn't anything new for her to deal with.
