For 11 years in a row, Maria Yuryevna Sharapova was the highest paid female-athlete in the world. The way Maria played is the only way to humiliate Serena. I’ve seen Serena lose, but this loss goes down in history. Sharapova played so freaking well. It’s insane.
People love to slate Serena but she always looks so happy for her opponents when they beat her in Slam finals. Obviously she's hurt and disappointed... but she puts it to one side and celebrates the other players achievement. That is true class.
Andrew Mark I agree she handled this defeat with class I was sad she didn't win Wimbledon as she is my favourite player but I reckon she looked smoking hot with some of her outfits that she wore on the court in 2004 I had a massive crush on Serena back than.😍😍
5 years the difference and beating the great Lindsay Davenport, Sharapova showed her best in this incredible final! Serena only 22, it was quite remarkable that Shara did it! Couldn’t do it since but maybe could do it again, surely this proves how great Serena is!
Sharapova was a really exciting player when she first burst on tour like this. But this kind of game style is really hard on the body and on the mind. She took the ball later and later as her career went on, and the serve became less and less of a weapon.
At 19, Sharapova had won two Slams, a wta Finals and had already been number one in the world (and the concurrence back then consisted in the likes of Williams sisters, Henin, Cljisters, Mauresmo, Davenport, Ivanovic, Dementieva, Capriati, etc). One has to wonder what kind of career she would have had without her shoulder injuries
I will never forget this moment, the moment she won her first Major Title,The Wimbledon. All through out her career, until her retirement Maria Sharrpova is my favorite Female Tennis Player of All Time. What Leila Barros is to Volleyball,Maria Sharapova is to Tennis.

The first tennis match I ever saw, remembered flipping channels and hearing about Maria’s age (same as mine) caught my attention. Couldn’t believe someone my age was facing Big Bad Serena. DaMm im 31 now 😕
This match is classic example of how much Sharapova's shoulder injuries hurt her chances for more wins against Serena. In this match, that serve was a big weapon and she got free points. Plus, she did not double fault all the time like in later years.
Has everyone forgotten that serena was in poor health when she played this match. Her dad tried to get her to forfeit the match because she was actually ill in the prior game but she wouldn't listen. How many times has she beaten serena since. She has also been on performance enhancing drugs the entire time she's played in this country.why is that never mentioned.

The way Maria played is the only way to humiliate Serena. I’ve seen Serena lose, but this loss goes down in history. Sharapova played so freaking well. It’s insane.
Humiliate? That's a joke. Secondly she had this loss voided because Sharapova cheated. All of sharapova wins are discredited
@@rickphilly1975 🤡
Absolutely humiliated Serena no doubt.
She never beat her again 🤣
The Sharapova fans are always doing the most! Head to Head speaks for itself!! 😂😂😂
People love to slate Serena but she always looks so happy for her opponents when they beat her in Slam finals. Obviously she's hurt and disappointed... but she puts it to one side and celebrates the other players achievement. That is true class.
Andrew Mark I agree she handled this defeat with class I was sad she didn't win Wimbledon as she is my favourite player but I reckon she looked smoking hot with some of her outfits that she wore on the court in 2004 I had a massive crush on Serena back than.😍😍
Deep inside she knows she's better, I guess.
@@christopheranderson2648 she is a man
@@andrej0145no she is not, she is such powerful lady and so so pretty i would get so excited watching her play her earrings were so sublime as well.♥♥
Naomi Osaka would disagree..
5 years the difference and beating the great Lindsay Davenport, Sharapova showed her best in this incredible final! Serena only 22, it was quite remarkable that Shara did it! Couldn’t do it since but maybe could do it again, surely this proves how great Serena is!
Обратите внимание на эмоции Серены при награждении 17летней Шараповой, прекрасная спортсменка, прекрасный человек с удивительной карьерой и добрым женским сердцем. 24:45

Куда ж делось потом это "доброе женское сердце" ?

Sharapova is the reason why I fell in love with this game. Miss her on courts..❤
This is when Serena swore not to be beaten by Maria ever again after such a humiliating defeat.
Nope.It was over Maria taking Serena's boyfriend at the time,Grigor Dimitrov lol

Yeah but in the long run. I think it's safe to say that Serena humiliated her way more, and worse throughout the course of their careers.

I think Sharapova hit the last lob of her career in this match. Very few win Wimbledon on their first try. What a match!

Meldonium alert
Oh please, it´s getting bored.
She started taking Meldonium between 2006 and 2007 (it was legal). So no Meldonium here, sorry hater.
Still haven't seen your biggest achievements, loser.
Sharapova was a really exciting player when she first burst on tour like this. But this kind of game style is really hard on the body and on the mind. She took the ball later and later as her career went on, and the serve became less and less of a weapon.
Shoulder injury
@@zarni000 Yes, I know it was the shoulder injury. Which is why I said that her game style was hard on her body.
I also wonder if that loud shreik with every shot took something out of her.
❤1❤!!!never forget that moment to watch the Excellence move Maria Sharapova back to back champion Australian open 💕!!!!!!
Sweet. Sharapova was unbelievable that day and she was so beautiful in her demeanor.
Yes, a real gorgeous woman
At 19, Sharapova had won two Slams, a wta Finals and had already been number one in the world (and the concurrence back then consisted in the likes of Williams sisters, Henin, Cljisters, Mauresmo, Davenport, Ivanovic, Dementieva, Capriati, etc). One has to wonder what kind of career she would have had without her shoulder injuries
she is "very thin especially for she is a so-called eutopean , ...,

I will never forget this moment, the moment she won her first Major Title,The Wimbledon. All through out her career, until her retirement Maria Sharrpova is my favorite Female Tennis Player of All Time.

Maria and Anna kounikova were the 2 beauties in tennis that always looked good and dressed well.
Anna Kournikova may have been the most beautiful tennis athlete ever.
Not one single WTA title ever won, yet she had a huge fan base and was extremely popular.
If maria wasn't so pretty that made her focus more on her modelling career i believe she could had been the best grass court player ever.

The camera work and overall quality of this vid is amazing and it is not even HD. I feel like I'm watching a documentary rather than highlights.
The commentators doing a pretty good job too, very professional compared to what we got in sports today.

wow cant believe is almost 20 years... one of the best moments in wta history of the new century.... it was unthinkable that any girl could beat Serena at that time.. in a final.... but Masha did ...
The respect at the end is so admirable… great moment in time from a 17 year old mature beyond her years…
I'm reading her book Unstoppable which bring me here!
The first tennis match I ever saw, remembered flipping channels and hearing about Maria’s age (same as mine) caught my attention. Couldn’t believe someone my age was facing Big Bad Serena. DaMm im 31 now 😕
EDeeire big bad? Ok...
EDeeire dammn, that must feel like ages ago, and right now I’m Maria’s age when she played this match
Ngomong opo to iku?
damn u old (lol j/k)
Big Bad Serena is shorter than Maria who towers over her ...mmm
Maria was young, innocent, and a hottie when she was young. And she didn't have an annoying scream yet.
She was not selling Sharapova branded sweets either!!
She is the queen
22:57 23:10 ??? I love her ROAR :)
Serena doesn't grunt either. That's because they can't grunt at Wimbledon.
She is still a hottie.
I live for this moment and day. I actually watch it live on TV. Everything about maria was amazing back then especially her serve. 💓
Ambas son una leyenda en el tenis profesional y campeonas del mundo. Les mando muchos cariños y saludos cordiales desde Temuco, Chile 🇨🇱❤️💪🏆🏅🤗
Amo a Sharapova
This match is classic example of how much Sharapova's shoulder injuries hurt her chances for more wins against Serena. In this match, that serve was a big weapon and she got free points. Plus, she did not double fault all the time like in later years.
Has everyone forgotten that serena was in poor health when she played this match. Her dad tried to get her to forfeit the match because she was actually ill in the prior game but she wouldn't listen. How many times has she beaten serena since. She has also been on performance enhancing drugs the entire time she's played in this country.why is that never mentioned.
@@margaretiverson6045 No your wrong. Maria wasnt taking anything back then and it was in fact Serena who was allowed to take steroids for her "injuries". Maria never took steroids. The drug Maria was taking was legal right up until a month before she was tested.
@@margaretiverson6045 And no ones mentions that this wasn't considered a drug before the "russian dopping" setup, how convinient.
Stop it. Lol y'all know Maria had no chance against the GOAT following this win. She got crushed at every match after. Ha ha 😂
