  • This little device is better than a fan. It shoots out cool air and uses less electricity than a standard fan. This video is an out of the box overview of the ChillWell model 2.0 cooling device. I am not getting paid for this video, just wanted to share my experience.

It was the fact that it went from 81° to 84° right next to the thermometer, while filled with ice water after freezing the filter for 1 hour. It told me all i need to know about this product .

I recently purchased this for less than $50 including shipping. It's not a replacement for an air conditioner, its an air cooler. My room in my basement is pretty big & this device cannot cool the room down, but when it's on my headboard & set up properly, it does cool me down on hot nights and I get better sleep. It has drawbacks. Advertised to cool a room, not likely unless it's a small room. It runs for 8 hours on low, I didn't get close to 5 on a full charge but during the day if I'm awake, I leave it plugged in. At night, I run it unplugged so it shuts off after time.

Thanks for the review Nica, I had been wondering if those things were worth it.
    Now I know... 👍🏼 😉
If it did not work in CA there is no way it would work in the high humidity of Alabama.

I know I'm late the screen. This coolers marketing was underhanded they say A/C, which everyone believes stand for air conditioner, but it doesn't stand for air cooler, unfortunately. Air Conditioner and Air Cooler are 2 different things. It's so sad that this could have been a game changer for so many people. Good review

Perhaps on a nightstand, end table, combined with a larger fan with a window open and curtains drawn it could be very useful. It won't cool off an e tire room though. Used properly it could be a nifty little device.

I bought the Arctic Air last year and like the ChillWell, it's just a poorly designed evaporative cooler.
That said, it would work well in place of a standard 6 inch desk fan. Keep in mind they both use misters for cooling and if you don't use distilled water, they will clog up.

This is just a micro swamp cooler that will only work as a personal cooler in a hot and arid (very very low humidity) climate.
I have a similar device made in the UK (Total Cool) that I have modified by creating an aluminum cooling cartridge in which I place a mixture of frozen brine slush (-6 degree F ) and dry ice (-109 degree F). Directing the cool air outlet directly at my face a few feet away, my modified micro swamp cooler cools sufficiently for me to fall asleep.
Once the cooling capacity has been expended and I wake up uncomfortable. I replace my diy cooling cartridge with a fresh one from an ice chest.

Hey mate you might want to be careful there:
Is dry ice safe or not?
Dry ice can be a very serious hazard in a small space that isn't well-ventilated. As dry ice melts, it turns into carbon dioxide gas. In a small space, this gas can build up. If enough carbon dioxide gas is present, a person can become unconscious, and in some cases, die.

This is a straight up scam. The advertising is virtually all lies. The ad I saw said it would cool a classroom in two minutes. Unbelievable! No, really, unbelievable. For most of the people who would consider buying this sort of thing $100 is big bucks. Yeah, they will give you your money back. But how about just selling us a product that works?

  • @wrecktifier1
    @wrecktifier1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Put your thermometer in front of the cooler and show what the temp is of the air coming out of there. There is a lot of variables of cooling a room. Heat soak, size, humidity, insulation, drafts ext.

Buy a $15 box fan and put a bowl of ice cubes in front of it and you will get the exact same results, (probably better because of the larger fan) a very slightly cooled breeze until the ice melts in 5-10 minutes depending on how hot your room is.

Well, i bought this device, but not to cool a room. I highly doubt it can cool any room no matter how small. I just saw it as a good fan for if the power went out. It provides a cool mist once you use cold water. So it kinda feels like cool air blowing on you. Basically just for close up use.

  • @mtx5319

Absolute Junk! I spent over $230 for two of these useless devices. First off, you literally have to be inches away from it to benefit from it and even then it's only the part of your' body that is directly in front of the fan that is cooled. The rest of my body was pouring sweat while my face received slight benefits from not the air blowing but the water you are being sprayed with. It didn't cool the room which stayed sweltering. It doesn't hold a charge. Once it shows that it has charged, you have about 10 minutes of working time before it shuts off. You have to plug it into an electrical source to get any substantial operational time out of it. However, they only provide you with the USB cord and not the plug that you need to plug it into an electrical source. Also, you have to keep filling the reservoir with water which dries out in an hour to an hour and a half. So you have to keep refilling it. Because of this, If you think you can have it all night while you sleep, you are wrong. It runs out of water and you wake up to hot air blowing on you. Absolute waste of money. I am very unhappy!!! Scam!
