- The Chillwell 2.0 is another over hyped fan that promises way more than it could ever possibly deliver. They keep saying that these fans can replace AC units without any evidence or technology to back that claim up. These are personal fans at best that light up and have usb charging. If advertised correctly they'd be interesting personal fans. But they are being advertised as replacing actual AC units. And they definitely are not!

The fake reviews and ads have fake comments as well! It's ridiculous!
It's such a scam on so many levels. The pure deceptive practices are insane.
I highly thank you because you are 💯 % right as some of us live on a fixed income as I am one of them. I was just going to order one for my room as it it so hot down here in florida. But thank you so much, if you can give me a better solution on how to cool my room besides buying another AC to save money. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you again👍

Yeah I thought this thing might cool a room a little bit at best and use ice cubes as a heat sink. Nope I’m not buying it. They lie so hard. “Cool a room 10 degrees in 5 minutes!” It would be cool if it worked as a temporary fix when your AC breaks. Nope. Glad I didn’t buy any of these supposed portable AC units to try save a few bucks on electricity.
My God I am on such a tight budget that I have to thank you for this information sir. To some of us out here $50 to $100 lost can hurt pretty bad so again.. Thank you so much!

We’ve been using a large fan blowing air on a large wet towel. Additionally, we hang wet towels on “strategically” hot spots and it works quite well. Our own swamp cooler.

Thanks from Germany. I just saw a advertisement for this thing and thought it could not be bc of natural laws. You cannot cool without using energy in the same amount... the law of energy conservation... uh, my english isn't good enough to point it out on a scientific way.
So I searched videos about this thing and thankfully found yours explaining the technical functions inside this thing between all these propably paid videos.
Now I know for sure this cannot cool a room.

I just saw an add claiming that a brilliant engineering student from New Mexico created it. His professors were sure it would turn the industry upside down, lol.

my dad saw that exact add too and tried to get me to buy it. but i did some research and ended up realizing it was a scam. i hate how people can get away with such false advertisement.

I saw another ad, stating it was created in a lab. They can’t even get their story straight regarding the origin. For the price I expected A/C components. You can build your own device easily and much cheaper. Thanks for the review.

Growing up in Mississippi back in the 1960s we used to put a pan of cold water in front of our fan for cooler air and this looks like the thing. I always go to TH-cam first to get a real and honest review to save me money. Thanks

That exactly what I did
Amazing how effective their ad campaign is. I got an ad for this thing before a you tube video. So I went to the web to do a search. The first couple of pages of hits for Chillwell were the company itself and also sites with glowing reviews of this thing. And they will also sell you one. So I come back to TH-cam but even here the first hits are Chillwell or their suppliers. About five hits down I find your unbiased review. Evaporative coolers are old school and can be quite effective. But the ones that work well have one hundred times or more filter area compared to the Chillwell. They are huge cubes with giant fans made to be installed outside and blow through a window. They are ugly and difficult to install but are cheap (relatively) and effective. The Chillwell is a worthless scam. Thanks for the review.

I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

no it is not a lifesaver, and especially not a "life savior" as you so eloquently describe it due to your most likely abbreviated grade school career. it's a tiny little swamp cooler and an inefficient one at that. the fan barely pushes any air at all and the cooler pad is trash. the simple fact that it runs off usb limits it to 5 volts. the product is a joke and so is your fake review.

I Jerryrigged a fan once to take ice cubes and you can feel the cooling all night. I had the ice in a stainless steel mesh netting hanging right in front of the fan. All the water drippings and ice bit fell into a bottom/ending stainless steel catch basin [that was twice as deep as the ice cube mesh netting/starting tray], the fan was also just slightly hitting the bottom pan. Worked so well! I should make a patient on that.

I agree with the advertising. In dry climates evaporative cooling (swamp coolers) is a thing and it works very well if you take dry air from outside, fan blows through wet media and cooled air flows to open windows where you want it cooled. It's about 20 degrees cooler than outside air. If it just takes inside air, eventually the humidity will just keep getting higher and the cooling gets less effective.
Swamp coolers do indeed work if you live in a low humidity area but you need a significantly decent sized swamp cooler (couple hundred dollars) and it will only relieve the temperature of at most maybe 10-15ish degrees cooler than before. I run a swamp cooler as my only means of cooling down and it's still hot as shit almost all day until night time when it naturally cools anyways and then the swamp cooler doesn't have to cool as high of a temp.

So, to summarize it's a small crappy swamp cooler. It will probably work (a little) in a small space if humidity is in single digits. I have a swamp cooler in my garage (about the size of a kitchen trash can) and it works pretty well to cool down my immediate work area. That being said, it is about 8x the size of this and has proper cellulose evaporative media pads, a water pump and a fan (you need all those things for an evap cooler to work). There are a ton of these on Amazon for $100-150 that will actually work assuming you live in the desert. No evap cooler works well above 30% humidity, and they really only work well with single digit humidity. Which means for it to work in needs a constant supply of dry air (from outside) if you just recirculate the room air humidity goes up and eventually your evap cooler stops cooling.

Being in the Southwest, we have a thing called Evaporative Cooler (Swamp cooler) and there are 2 takes on this little unit. First,...You are right, it is not an air conditioner. Basically, it's a self contained humidifier. Second.... If your relative humidity outside is more than 20-30%, this will just make your space just muggy and not comfortable at all. If your humidity is 50% or more, a simple desk fan would do 200% better than this mini humidifier.
But I guess that's the beauty of advertising tactics.
