You should put the thru bolts on the outside and screw it from the inside to be more secure. You can also use white silicone caulk ahead of time for a better seal.
I'm installing a pet door in the EXACT same spot on a garage door that looks just like yours next week. After seeing your video, I know without any doubt my project will be a success and I can now quit worrying about it! Thanks for a great video.

Oh I'm about to buy one of these but I'm nervous about the depth. We have double insulated garage doors. Do you? Or do you think these will work on insulated garage doors?
@@RyRyDaBestest Mine is an insulated Garage Door and if I remember right, the packaging will show the max depth it can go on a door. Mine had plenty of extra room from what I remember. I think it should be fine, but check the packaging for max depth. Good Luck! Let me know how it turned out!
question: when the garage door is raised to the full open position (door is horizontal) does the petsafe flap remain closed by the magnetic strip or does it hang open? I did one of these on a steel external door but now I need to get one on the garage and was hesitating for that reason.
It actually comes “undone” and hangs down a little bit. I will try to send a photo. Looks like the magnet is not that super strong. But, until you asked I never noticed.

I’d be concerned with neighbors cats and rodents coming in my garage. They both been there before leaving scent or marking and hunting food (rat found the bird food bag).

Is that cat door fire rated? It's illegal to put a non fire rated door on a fire rated garage.
Lol, exterior garage doors are not fire rated.
