While I was researching the whole GLP-1 stuff for my own journey, I found your channel and love it! I’ve been following you for a couple months now and enjoy the authentic casual conversation, engaging content, and reporting of pharmaceutical-related breaking news. (Also, appreciate that you’re not sales pitch-centric like some others out there.) Just had my sixth dose of Zepbound 2.5mg and down 11 lbs. as a result. Slow and steady for a total loss of 43 lbs since May 2023. I’ve got 20+ lbs more to go. Hope you’ll share your pumpkin dessert recipe! Look forward to your pre-Turkey Day live! 🦃 Keep up the great work…you both look healthy and happy!
yes the Salmon did come out and I will be making that soon. And thanks Laraine for the story its good to know all the details keeps it fresh and we all have stops and starts and we are human not perfect lol
I agree with Lorraine, if I had a colonoscopy scheduled, I would go off for two weeks. Having been through that procedure three times. I know you definitely want to be completely cleaned out.
I was off my medication for 10 days pre- and should have done about 5 days post (because of the constipation effect) colonoscopy. I have had a colonoscopy canceled because the prep didn't clean everything out (pre-GLP-1s) and I was going to be damned if I had to do this prep again because of the GLP-1s. I also drank clear liquids... for 48 hours I think. Now, the new (and often-changed), recommendations include clear fluids for 24 hours pre-fasting (which is for the 12-24 hours before the procedure) that each anesthesiologist recommends tailored to you and your body. Christopher is right about listening to doctor, yet, erring on the side of not having to repeat the colonoscopy prep is always my game plan.
@@thedownsized A group of Orthopedic Surgeons have done studies on their patients undergoing hip and knee surgeries when on GLP-1s and they decided that 2 weeks is best to avoid aspiration and other anesthesia risks. In "Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists may need to be halted 2 weeks prior to TJA," it says in part: "Holland and colleagues found there was an increased likelihood of delayed emergence from anesthesia when patients took GLP-1s within 5 days of a primary THA (hip) or TKA (knee). In addition, Holland said patients who took GLP-1s within 7 days of surgery had an increased likelihood of an aspiration event. "'But as we got closer to surgery, that risk continued to go up,' Holland said. 'And when patients did not stop it, they were five times more likely to have an aspiration event with their primary total knee or total hip arthroplasty compared to the patients who had stopped at 14 or 30 days before surgery.'" I believe we are still in the wild west of figuring out what is what in so many ways with these Meds. Just think, Laraine, we're going to be in a study about this one day! Next time I have surgery, I will stop for 2 weeks like you did. Better safe than sorry!
Thank you, Guys! You both look GREAT! I look forward to hearing you talk about the news updates and your weight loss and maintenance journeys. I would love to hear you guys talk more about your exercise routines. Sincerely, Vaughn
Laraine.. I used your code a couple months ago and joined Mochi and was doing great! They have since started using AEQUITA compound pharmacy which I assume you’re using also! … Their strength and unit dosages no longer gives me the latitude to micro dose and adjust my units up and down like I could with Red Rock! In this video you mentioned drawing from your vile a certain amount you wanted at the time! How are you able to do that with the way AEQUITA is filling the vile strengths now? Have you figured out the math with their script of 50 Units for 7.5 so that a person could titrate up to 10mg slowly without the jump right into it? Have your latest viles come from AEQUITA also? Thanks so much in advance for a reply😃
You have to do math and solve for X. If you’re just cutting a dose in half, that’s easy enough. But for any other dose I solve it like an algebra equation.
I started GLP-1 in February of this year. I have taken my first cruise to Alaska on July. I loved it. I'm going on my second ever cruise following Thanksgiving. I watch all of your episodes and relate well to you both. It would be wonderful for me to be on a cruise with you and your GLP-1 subscribers. Please, add me to the list of people who would like to go..
Christopher, @brittanylosing did a vlog this past week about stalls, especially when you reach the max dose. Found it interesting that some have found success either switching to another type of GLP-1 (semaglutude tirzepatide), or taking a break for a month and going back on at a lower dose and moving back up if necessary. Apparently, our bodies can adapt to these meds just like any other med. Makes sense, but I would always check with my doc.
I’m glad you brought up hunger because even though I’ve felt satisfied most of the time I was worried when I felt hungry. At least I know it’s ok to be hungry to eat a healthy meal.
Do you sell or share your spreadsheet to keep track? I would love a copy if you do. I’m researching everything and hope to start my journey too. I’m a believer in tracking but not so savvy with creating charts ! Love your channel. Just let me know. Thank you.
Great update, guys! I’m excited to try the pumpkin ice cream (I started to write down the recipe, but I guess I’ll just get it when I see you. 😉) I’m glad to hear you found another guy for the Downsized Dish. I recently recommended your channel as a good resource for men, as this community is a little female focused overall.
I followed my gastroenterologist's instructions and went off Terzepatide for 1 week prior to my colonoscopy, this past Wednesday. He commented after the procedure that my prep was excellent. The prep and result of the prep, was no different than the previous 3 colonoscopies I had when I wasn’t on Terzepatide.
I am new to your channel. Just curious if you guys are retired because you seem to travel a lot, I relate to Laraine because I am on the compounded Tirzepatide. I was on compounded Semaglutide for 16 months and couldn’t get to my goal weight even at the highest dose. I’ve been on Tirzepatide now for two months and I’m still not able to lose weight. I’m pretty sure it’s because I’ve developed a love for sugar lol
CD: thanks for watching and commenting. No we are not retired. We own our own business and much of our travel revolves around business and networking events that we produce or attend. Owning our own business also gives us the flexibility to travel and still work from anywhere in the world. So we look for opportunities to travel and get a good deal.
CD: These medications are the medical treatment for the disease of obesity they are not a diet. Eat a sensible variety of foods in small portions / there are no banned foods Focus on real food - protein and vegetables. Protein will help you feel full longer and help maintain muscle mass. Fruits and vegetables provide much needed nutrients and fiber - fiber is good it will help with constipation. Then add in fats, carbs and sugars. You will not eat much so make sure it tastes great and is nutrient dense
If you have a terrible diet because of all the hunger, urges for bad food, constant food noise in your head…when this medicine reduces or removes all that, you will have the power to stop eating crap and start eating healthy
LD I hate the strees you are having. All the tools should be used at 1 time to resolve the procedure at 1 time. I could rant on but you have enough stress. A life long friend is going through this on December 6th.

Thanks, I figured 2 weeks would be better. I’ve been on tirzepatide for over a year, so I have a lot built up in my system.

Thanks. What would you like to know, we talk about that all the time
Yes! We always hear from Laraine. What about you, Christopher? Do you walk, lift weights, etc?
Not much to talk about - laraine is the exercise fiend in the family
@ Gotcha! Thanks.
Thank you for the channel. It’s very helpful to have company on this journey and have answers on my many questions along the way.
Glad to help!

I actually calculated that I have lost 17#. No photos, hypermodest. 13 to go ish. Compound tirzepitide 3rd week 5mg. I almost cried😢

I would love to do an Alaska cruise. It’s definitely on my list! You can join our email list on our website at TheDownsized.org

Thanks I saw that - I am not actually in a stall and I am happy with the progression so we will save that if need be.
I’m glad you brought up hunger because even though I’ve felt satisfied most of the time I was worried when I felt hungry. At least I know it’s ok to be hungry to eat a healthy meal.
I think it’s good to be hungry at meal times. That’s the way it’s supposed to work 🤩 Before the was hungry 24/7! Such a difference!
Thanks for the update! Are you traveling with pens or compound?
CD: it’s only a few days so no need to bring meds.
We have travelled with both and have a few videos on them

Interviewing someone you know in about 15 minutes 😎
@@thedownsized Who could that possibly be?!?
I have been watching you all since May. Usually while commuting, don't always get to comment. The cruise sounds interesting!
Awesome stay tuned - more to come

LD: I also love sugar. But really it does nothing for your weight loss goals. Try to limit it where you can. I know it’s hard!
Laraine you are a beautiful woman and it shines through even more with your weight loss. Love the Chanel reminiscent pink jacket. All class ❤
Thank you so much! 😍
Love the pink jacket on you you look so pretty
Thanks! 😊

I had no idea there were things they couldn’t do out of that office. Definitely annoying, but I’ll do it again.
