I. Know from other reviews that the hull is a little weak. Did you reinforce the hull or is that also stock? Been reading spider cracks or hull splitting . I bought one from a estate sale brand new and a little concern about the hull. Don't plan on going for speed records just having fun with it out of the box speed. With the speeds your reaching that is a good test on this hull. Just want to know your thoughts. Thanks!
I added some pour foam to the seams and that's all I did to mine. As for as spider cracks in paint that will happen with most boats due to the fiberglass flexing and cracking the paint during crashes. I love mine.
I just received my 1815 left and right hand props for our Miss Geico from Chris Hoffman sir, and I can't wait to get them in the boat to try them!!! Just had the boat out this weekend in AZ and I can't believe how fast the boat does with the stock ESC and stock props on 6S. I can only imagine how much faster the boat will go with the new props. Thanks! Appreciate that! Get 4-3s packs with the 36. Way more stable with them. Get you 4- 3s 50c or higher packs 5,000 -6,000 mah packs. The added weight will help the handling.

I also liked the fact they come fitted with Ec5 connectors also where as everything that’s about on market seems to be deans connectors which are the worst I’ve had to date. I see what’s available again now 😁👍

Chris Hoffmann best to email him at dasboata@aol.com tell him you want the geico props. They are pretty much for speed runs only and could overheat electronics if ran to LVC.
I have a spartan that is nothing compared to this. I was going to get this boat but the spartan costs less with the batteries than this does alone. I took out the spartan for its first run this weekend and in the first 5 minutes of running it the top flew off and only the front of the boat was sticking out of the water. Thank god for the styrofoam in the front of the hull.
Apologize for the greenhorn question but how do you know the voltage of the boat while running? Do you just feel it get slower and bring her in? Or set timers? I just don’t want to mess up expensive lipos.
That was a great looking run, I’ve got a set of Doctor props on the way for my miss Geico and I’ve got a oxidean marine animal cat coming once they’re done that I plan on racing the Geico against! Should make for a good video!
I have a Miss Geico also and unfortunately a couple of tumbles and I'm putting a new hull together. Just purchased a tfl Zonda carbon fiber and the animal also. And a handful of other fast tfl and pro boats. Going to be looking into these props for sure for all of them
@MrMad2424 Would 4 3S Batteries be noticeably better for balance vs 2 6S? I have 2 6S in mine, stock props, but want to get the Super Geico Props and am thinking about other tweaks I can make.
I have personally never ran 2-6s packs in this boat but I did in my original Zelos 36 and I had much better luck running 4-3s packs in it. If they fit under the deck then the 2 packs might be ok if they are strong quality name brand packs, but most good packs won't fit under the deck.
MrMad2424 I run Spektrum 100c Hardpacks in mine. They are good quality Lipo's. I put the batteries near the front for best balance. The only other thing I can think of is a 1/2-1lb sandbag. The weight of the two batteries + 1/2-1lb of added weight roughly equals the weight of 4 3S Batteries. If that sounds dumb let me know
The sand bag has to go unless you are running in the Gulf of Mexico. That's killing you. Just adjust the struts down and it will keep the bow down. fine tune with the batteries by sliding the forward or back as needed.
I've never had an RC boat but want one. I don't mind buying an entry level boat buy I don't want a tiny one that bounces all over the place because of a small ripple in the water. Any recommendations?

i just got this boat 2 weeks ago because of your videos. and i love it. ran it on two high power 4s batteries and it was fast. slapped 2 6s batteries in it and finally flipped it. but i loved every second of it. even going swimming to get it.any pointers on battery set up ? i preffer only running 2 and should i even try prop upgrade running only 2?
Nice! Congrats on the boat! I only run 4 for better stability. Only running two packs you will have to lower the struts down pretty drastic unless they will fit under the deck. I'd lower them 1mm at a time until the boat feels stable for you if you run 2 6s packs. God luck with it.
@@tompitzer4862 I've broke them before but not on this boat. You can get some similar size at the local hardware store . If it becomes an issue use a brass screw and nut the same diameter. Brass will be stronger than the plastic but it will still break if you hit something.

Markt, do you put weight in the front of your boat? Lead or something. My geico today flipped at 70 mph, with the super geico props on it. 3mm Struts down and Lipos complete forward.
MrMad2424 yes i also run 4x3s, but Spektrum 5000 mah 100C, but with 3mm drives down it flip at 110 km/h (70mph). What can I do? Drives to 3,5mm down? But for 1 second I tested the top speed. Was only 83mph with the super geico props.

I got one of these as a gift and an impulse 31 and I’ve never used them. I’m not big into RC, I had no idea they’d go so fast. Lol that’s crazy, no ponds near me though
Can I ask you how mm your struts down with your 4x3s revolectrix on this run and the super geico props? 1mm down? Can I tune something else? Did you tune something else? Motor timing brings not so much or? Flexshafts the original in your geico?
Lot's of tuning. I had to make some field adjustments right before this run so I couldn't really measure the angle.. Orginial flexshafts is what I run in this boat.

Nice job! Did you have to reinforce the hull? Did you have any roll overs? Was the hull ok after roll overs? Some people say the hull needs reinforcement for speeds like this.

If used properly no issues at all. Only pour 1oz at a time and move the boat to make it go where you want it to and you will be fine. Don't just pour 8oz in the deck and let it expand then yes it can expand too much and bust the boat.

David Lamphee i dont run the Zelos mate. MrMad will know best about this particular hull, but in general trial end error, logning every change you make and what it does to the performance and caracteristics is the way to go. General rules and optimums for COG and angle of attact in the water will ofcause apply.
@David Lamphee Thanks! appreciate the comment. Setup is key with this boat and the Super Geico props are great. Are your Revo batteries got a few cycles on them? They wear down pretty quickly from my experience. If they are puffed any at all they won't hold under load like they once did. My boat is trimmed out and staying on the water by balance and not by a lot of weight some put up front to hold the boat planted.

Just reinforces the seams a little with two part marine foam. 4-3s 5000mah lipos.

@@Hanger995 The ESC has built in low voltage cut off you can set to what ever voltage you want to stop at.

The boat came with the transmitter and I purchased the charger from my local hobby shop and the batteries from Amazon.

MrMad2424 I run Spektrum 100c Hardpacks in mine. They are good quality Lipo's. I put the batteries near the front for best balance. The only other thing I can think of is a 1/2-1lb sandbag. The weight of the two batteries + 1/2-1lb of added weight roughly equals the weight of 4 3S Batteries. If that sounds dumb let me know
The sand bag has to go unless you are running in the Gulf of Mexico. That's killing you. Just adjust the struts down and it will keep the bow down. fine tune with the batteries by sliding the forward or back as needed.

i just got this boat 2 weeks ago because of your videos. and i love it. ran it on two high power 4s batteries and it was fast. slapped 2 6s batteries in it and finally flipped it. but i loved every second of it. even going swimming to get it.any pointers on battery set up ? i preffer only running 2 and should i even try prop upgrade running only 2?
Nice! Congrats on the boat! I only run 4 for better stability. Only running two packs you will have to lower the struts down pretty drastic unless they will fit under the deck. I'd lower them 1mm at a time until the boat feels stable for you if you run 2 6s packs. God luck with it.
have you ever broken the plastic shear screw on the rudder? just broke mine. don't think i hit anything.
@@tompitzer4862 I've broke them before but not on this boat. You can get some similar size at the local hardware store . If it becomes an issue use a brass screw and nut the same diameter. Brass will be stronger than the plastic but it will still break if you hit something.

Markt, do you put weight in the front of your boat? Lead or something. My geico today flipped at 70 mph, with the super geico props on it. 3mm Struts down and Lipos complete forward.
No extra weight other than the epoxy reinforcement in the tips. I run 4-3 s packs for balance as well.
MrMad2424 yes i also run 4x3s, but Spektrum 5000 mah 100C, but with 3mm drives down it flip at 110 km/h (70mph). What can I do? Drives to 3,5mm down? But for 1 second I tested the top speed. Was only 83mph with the super geico props.

12 inches from tray lip to tray lip. so no your batteries would be a little too long to fit without cutting modifying the tray lips.

only added two part foam to the seams and reinforced the battery tray mounts.....why? Cause I was going for big numbers and crashes are possible.

I have never ran the boat with 2-6s packs. I always use 4- 3s packs.

Lot's of tuning. I had to make some field adjustments right before this run so I couldn't really measure the angle.. Orginial flexshafts is what I run in this boat.

Thanks. Chris Hoffmann is who you need to contact for the props. Best to email him at dasboata@aol.com I prefer to run 4-3s 5,000mah 60c or higher lipos in series from Revolectrix, Turnigy, SMC, Gens Ace/Tattu. Just make sure you get well known packs and they will do you well.

Did you have to reinforce the hull? Did you have any roll overs? Was the hull ok after roll overs? Some people say the hull needs reinforcement for speeds like this.

If used properly no issues at all. Only pour 1oz at a time and move the boat to make it go where you want it to and you will be fine. Don't just pour 8oz in the deck and let it expand then yes it can expand too much and bust the boat.

David Lamphee its all about the setup mate. Takes a lot of effort to get up to these speeds even similar gear 🙌🏻

David Lamphee i dont run the Zelos mate. MrMad will know best about this particular hull, but in general trial end error, logning every change you make and what it does to the performance and caracteristics is the way to go. General rules and optimums for COG and angle of attact in the water will ofcause apply.
@David Lamphee Thanks! appreciate the comment. Setup is key with this boat and the Super Geico props are great. Are your Revo batteries got a few cycles on them? They wear down pretty quickly from my experience. If they are puffed any at all they won't hold under load like they once did. My boat is trimmed out and staying on the water by balance and not by a lot of weight some put up front to hold the boat planted.
