I need to find napkins, I reckon I’ll begin with plain white. It will take me quite a while or birthday parties or so events to accumulate an assortment! It really is awesome too watch and I am sure it is something satisfying to do!
I love doing this! It works great on thin printer paper also. Makes cool vellum results. I used digitals printed on basic cheap printers paper. So cool
TᕼᗩᑎKᔕ ᗩ ᒪOT Alicia the copy paper (90gsm-100gsm) i tested didn't give huge transparent results but still looks cool. the really thin papers approx 50gsm do, did you see the postage paper in video 2? it worked really well 🦋 cheers Donna
@@JunkJournalideas ,thank you very much for this great video,Donna!I think using napkins will end in amazing results I have tried same technique, but only on a copy paper and digital prints before, same as SalvagedCountry Charm-Alicia did,it turned out fantastic and does make it look like a velum.I also tried it on the coloured kids pads and it worked perfect, gives you coloured velum look like. Good tip is the thinner the paper ,the better results, and give you more translucent look and some what make paper stronger. The other tip is to sandwich your new “velum” appear in between two clean sheets,to take the excess of wax off . I hope it make sense.good luck🍀
Thanks Donna what a great video I make soy candles so I have plenty of soy wax I’m going to try this method. I used to make my own wrapping paper with wax lunch wrap, but that’s not available in Australia anymore Great pocket idea 😊😊❤️❤️
Sounds great! the bee's wax is great to use and if any wax sneaks out from between the papers it wont smell you out! you don't need to use much of it, have fun 🦋 hugs Donna
the bee's wax works really well, and if you accidentally squish out the wax it won't smell like the paraffin wax does, (warning) it's sneaky stuff and no matter how careful it seems to get out from between the papers hugs xx Donna
love waxing my papers especially the brown paper and some wrapping papers, I then emboss them giving it an awesome affect, but I have not tried a napkin. I use scented candles giving the papers a lovely scent...tfs
That's a great idea Christa! the napkin colours become so deep and rich in some and delicate in others it's very interesting, some fragile some tuff, you gotta try it to see what i mean 🦋 cheers Donna
thanks Sherry its great to do, I have finished the video for part 3 i have some information about the candle wax being used in your journals 🦋 cheers Donna
aw thanks so much for your lovely complement Melanie, and the wax will transfer IF the journal is left in a hot car or in near a hot window in your room, otherwise it's ok. If you sell your journals just pop a makers note in with it to say it's a wax finish. I done a test by putting it in the oven and even though it was an extreme forced test it transferred, but these conditions are not gonna happen in the real world. have a look at my comments here th-cam.com/video/seJSFlqCaI8/w-d-xo.html ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
TᕼᗩᑎKᔕ ᗩ ᒪOT Cindy, I think so! it's hard to say bc i don't know what your candle is made of? if you want to sacrifice one give it a try 🦋 cheers Donna
Gday Lynne, it feels really nice in the hand, because its wax i would think if you left your journal in a hot car it may melt the wax? and then transfer onto whats next to it. i will test it and see (i will mention this in video part 3 if i can get any results worth sharing) i would like to know now you have mentioned it :-) cheers Donna
Hi Lynne I have done a test to see if the wax would transfer if it was used on anything and placed in a junk journal, thanks for asking the question because the test results is something everyone needs to know about this technique. Thank you so much for asking this question cheers Donna th-cam.com/video/seJSFlqCaI8/w-d-xo.html
Both! I use both Susie if im using white tissue i can keep going if im using colour transfer i can keep going and if i need to change around, and if one of my white pieces has even the slightest bit of colour in the napkin, i will then have to get new pieces 🦋 hugs Donna
Hi Dina, I would do a test coaster and use mod podge, its a sealer and is water resistant once dry. do a coat let it completely dry, then do another coat and dry, and another, see if three coats is enough ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
Thanks Donna for the detailed explanation. You just make great videos hugs Iris 💕
Thank you so much for the inspiration Iris! i put your link in the description box :-) 🦋 hugs Donna

your a fabulous teacher. I have a question, when you use them in journals will the wax transfer or cause pages to stick?
aw thanks so much for your lovely complement Melanie, and the wax will transfer IF the journal is left in a hot car or in near a hot window in your room, otherwise it's ok. If you sell your journals just pop a makers note in with it to say it's a wax finish. Junk Journal ideas I may do that lol. I know it will smell good 😂😂
Gorgeous! I was wondering if the wax treated pieces leave any residue behind on say a journal or envelope? Thank you for the inspiration!

I love this technique. Do you use fresh wax paper for each napkin or do you reuse it over and over? Blessings and Hugs 🤗
Both! I use both Susie if im using white tissue i can keep going if im using colour transfer i can keep going and if i need to change around, and if one of my white pieces has even the slightest bit of colour in the napkin, i will then have to get new pieces 🦋 hugs Donna
@@JunkJournalideas thank you. I assumed that would be your answer but I wanted to make sure before I messed up.
Brilliant idea but wondering should I varnish it after collage if I used it for coasters If yes which varnish would work rather than resin
