That's the same exhaust I have on my '23. The RoadsterSport Race is an absolute gem. It fixed my issues with not being able to hear the RPM level on the highway without looking at the tach. It's got such a great noise to it, especially as it breaks in. Plenty of organic sounding pops, burbles and crackles without being overbearing like some snap crackle pop tuned turbo motor. You can start the car in reverse to cut the bass out of it so as not to annoy the neighbors if you need that kind of thing but otherwise I love the way it barks on start up. It definitely added a tiny bit of top end power as well but it's hard to notice in the day to day. It definitely breaks in nicely and the sound "fills out" in a way I find hard to describe.
Also Que, you can get a roof controller from MX-5 Things for the RF that allows you to put the roof up and down at up to 30mph and with only one push of the button. Also with another add-on from the same company, you can control the windows and roof with the key fob while not in the car.
Warm start is even better then cold because the car blips the throttle when the car is warm on startup. Has a nice organic burble when u downshift at the right rpm n upshift at redline sounds epic, no synthetic sounding stuff like those newer turbo cars.
I agree with installing that racing exhaust in the Miata. After three years of ownership, finally placed one yesterday and sounded amazing (even just going at 5-10 mph at the parking lot).
Amazing content as usual. This seems to be the definitive review for this exhaust. All the other youtubers don't do multiple scenarios with their review on this exhaust which kept me on the fence in getting it.
I have a red 2023 civic sport hatchback manual like the blue one you reviewed a while back and for how little hp it has, going through the rpms is so fun. Yes it'll take some time to get to higher speeds but man is it fun shifting gears through the highway or country roads without breaking the speed limit. Plus love the non-turbo N/A engines. Those ball shifters help you grip so much better than them egg shifters too. Great little Miata you got there.
Cool love mine! I also bought the optional insert to quiet it down a little for longer trips but never really use it because I like the sound better without it . I think it sounds racy not ricey. The simple single exhaust, is unassuming , you don’t expect that great sound out of it!
Que! I blame you and Topher for the ND3 sitting in my driveway right now 😂 I have your exact same spec, GT 6MT, but in aero grey. It is such a a fantastic machine, I can't believe I own it. I told my girl I'd leave it stock but the Goodwin exhaust sounds incredible. This would definitely be top on my list for one of the first mods.
Que you got the car before me now beating me to all the mods bro. Try the B14 Bilsteins sometime if you are ready. That Race is #1 on my list as well, it sounds lovely and reasonable. Love it. I also plan Versus engineering diffuser (this is a serious kit with real wind tunnel testing) and 330 cms steering wheel from Guardian Designs. You are smart to keep stock wheels and tires. Most people overtire this car and lose the fun and toassable feel.
Sounds good! I always thought complaints about the exhaust sound were really picky, and then I took delivery of my club RF last week and yeah - the exhaust is so quiet I'm missing important RPM feedback. When I blip the throttle on a downshift I can hardly hear it. I might have to replace mine too, but I'll give myself a little more time to get used to it.
Yes you'll enjoy it - always have a miata in your life. Nice to have one ready whenever you want it. Sold my '95 NA but missed it. Got a '06 NC but someone ran a red light and totalled it. Back in a ND for the long term now.
If you ever come to NJ area bring your camera equipment. You can take me E92 M3 for a drive. Its supercharged, has ohlins and more mods than I can remember
It sounds pretty good. Looking at the muffler design I was expecting it to be louder but it is nice. I ordered the HKS Legamax muffler for my MX5. So I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'm expecting to be just a little bit louder than the stock muffler. Listening to yours maybe the Legamax will land somewhere between your sound and stock. I chose to try the Legamax because the car really needs a little more sound than stock but I don't want a loud constant annoying exhaust sound and the Legamax keeps the twin outlets. Enjoy your car!
That hole at the exhaust tip is for the optional pack baffle which I put on. I think it makes the inside of the tip look better with all the baffle's holes, similar sound either way. But I think you're going to like the sound even more after the exhaust breaks in (some soot builds up). The good thing about only this exhaust and the stock exhaust (not any of the others) is the verus engineering diffuser can be installed at its optimal height (highest) with these ones. Pay attention to the high-speed stability and highway fuel economy and try to notice if any of those got worse since exhaust change.
i’m definitely getting either this exhaust or a louder one just because i wanna get a black mx5 and i know it’s small so i wanna be sure im heard of especially night time 😂❤thanks for the vids
But I get the Benjamin's combined with that laugh took me out 😆 Also don't think we didn't notice you stunting with the 3 Zoom's! The new exhaust sounded way deeper and better #Nodiddy that was a great choice, great video brother!
Dude, I'm getting a zircon sand rf club next month and i've been eating up your videos. Congrats on the car, i love seeing you mod it and have a blast!
Thank you, Que. I installed a Racing Beat Sport/Race on my ND1 Club in 2016. I liked the sound and free-flowing characteristics. I’m ordering a ND3 Club (ST BBR 6MT) this year, and it’s between the same exhaust and the RoadsterSport Race. The costs are comparable, and you’ve given me a lot to consider!
That exhaust changed up the whole car, sounds too good man. I'm about to pick up a 2024 as well, how's the soft top holding up in terms of rain/pollen? Wondering how often you clean yours
Stock exhaust top up was so unbearable for me, I always had to drive with top down to enjoy. Goodwin Race is great can be loud or quiet depending on how you drive. There is a Helmholtz chamber that reduces drone around 3k cruising rpm, outside of 3k rpm it's a straight pipe. Be prepared for less mpg from all the extra fun you'll be having! Great value, got my race exhaust used for $250.
@@QueTheChaotic sounds about right 😆 I'm now get 35mpg mostly fwy commute, 30mpg if mostly city while still having fun. Love the tiny pops on deceleration. If cruising I get 37-38mpg fwy. Best one time 45mpg when following my friend's truck 15 miles mostly fwy to his house. Race exhaust suppose to give 3-5hp across the rpm, 8hp peak. Sound may mellow a bit after 500-1000 break-in miles. Your next sound mod could be removing the sound tube. I did that at first but recently put it back in and did a "ND sound tube mod". I replaced half of the stock sound tube with a 2.5 inch hose and a rubber glove to cover the end into the firewall cabin hole.
I picked up my MX-5 on Friday, and I definitely want to get an exhaust for it. This sounds good, and I like it being only 12 lbs., but I'm really not a fan of the single tip. It just doesn't look right on this car, IMO. Maybe if it had some sort of larger tip, but as is I don't care for it. Do they offer this in a dual-tip version, or is there something similar to this with dual tips?
@@QueTheChaotic Thanks, Que. I was just reading on their website that the RoadsterSport SuperStreet TwinTip can have the same sound as the Race one you have depending on how you run the baffles, and is only 5 lbs. heavier (17 lbs.) than the one you got. Unfortunately, it's about double the price, but I think this is the one I'm going to seriously consider.
The weight loss is great, and the sound is the best exhaust for an ND*. I installed the same exhaust, and it does transform the car. If you add the Fab9 tune for 93 octane (with cracks & pops) it gets even better. :-)
Congrats on the new exhaust--sounds nice. I'm not much into modding cars but the exhaust is a must on the ND. My old stock exhaust NA sounded much better than the ND w/stock exhaust. The only other mod I've done on the ND besides exhaust and wheels is a Guardian Designs steering wheel. The stock one is a bit thin.
I hear you on that. I don’t want to change this car too much from what it is in stock form. I would appreciate a thicker steering wheel. Does it retain the factory buttons?
@@QueTheChaotic Yes you reuse your existing buttons...it's a pretty easy swap. There are TH-cam videos on ND steering wheel swaps. There's a few mfgrs so do some research on which you like. GD isn't the cheapest option out there but IMO its one of the nicest. Plus a nice touch is you can customize it with a noon marker to match your car color. They're made in Poland, so takes a while to get. A nice wheel is totally worth it IMO as it's something you touch each time you drive.
