New to your channel, gorgeous area, driven by there a few times, but never had a fish. Great footage and a few gorgeous Trout for your trouble. Thanks for sharing!!!

Hi I enjoyed your video. I used to fish the Eucumbene area a lot years ago. The lake I fish in NZ has big trout (60-75cm). When I use Rapala type lures I take the trebles off and replace them with one single inline lure hook like the Gamakatsu 329409 in size 2. They are much stronger than the trebles. Put it on the rear ring point up and you get less snags and the hook up rate on trout is as good as the trebles. Also less points to get caught in the net.

Thanks Steve, that's a great idea.
I'm definitely going to try that. I have done this recently with some lures called Jackson Eddy lures and it's worked well.
And I think I will have to book a trip to NZ one time 😉

Hey mate, I use a 4pc Crucis elite rod with a Daiwa LT2500 reel running 8lb mono 👍🏼

Gee, you don't believe in stopping reeling do you. You can stop winding and actually attempt to play the fish. That's why you lost the first one. Don't wind in when the fish is splashing on the top or running. All you succeed in doing is pulling the hook. Let the rod act as a cushion and only wind in when the fish is not applying any pressure.

      Thanks for your input Gary.
After getting a decent snag I felt like I was losing the fish while letting the pressure off due to the trebles losing its sharpness. That's why I was keeping pressure on.
