- Very exciting update this week as even though Critter Country has been blocked off, it has allowed us to see MORE than usual as some walls are no down. Going forward, we're going to get a much better look at parts of the construction progress. Meanwhile, new permits give us an idea of what's happening at the new construction walls up at the esplanade, what's happening at the Hungry Bear and more!

The guy waving at you while the hole is being backfilled at the HM was awesome. You were caught lol
My wife and I saw that and had a great laugh! Seems like every time David films this area....some "foreman" is on the phone for much of the video!
@@lancegregory9861 haha yep! I was hoping to see David when I was there the first week in July but sadly I did not. I want to be among those that get to yell "FRESH BAKED!!" LOL
I’m not mad about it, it’s just hard for me to travel 400 miles and having so much of it closed, I’ve been going to Disneyland for forty plus years and never seen so much closure at once.I love Disneyland, it is truly my happy place, it’s just so overwhelming for me right now, I’m excited for all the new and improved parts of Disneyland.😊
We will coming from Europe for Halloween and are super bummed, to see so much closures 😢
@@Shinji4u By Halloween most of it should be open! Maybe Tiana's will still be closed but that's about it
I agree with you on that
The signs for the pathway closure should say "this is *not* the way" with a Mandalorian with Grogu.
Great show this week, Fresh Baked! It's hard to believe how much construction is going on at the parks right now. I am happy because I go often and can see how wonderful it will all be when it is finished. However, I feel for the guests who seldom come to DLR, and when they get there, there are construction walls everywhere they look! I am most excited for the Downtown Disney area. We love that area, and I am excited for it to be complete. Fresh Baked!!
How many times a week do you go?
It was so nice to meet you last week. Thank you for being so kind when my daughter Sophia ran up to hug you. My husband was jealous we met you. We love all of your videos!
Happy Birthday to DISNEYLAND Blessings and HUGS! 👑💜
I REALLY want to thank you for ALL your updates! Your math and insights on que lines are spot on...I can come within 5 minutes, plus or minus, before you announce (and watching others with their vids) on lines....my wife just laughs at me....but knowing these "hacks" you share has very much alleviated my anxiety on our upcoming DL trip this October! Your enthusiasm with the parks is VERY CONTAGIOUS and we love it! Of course, it is great to hear "FreshBaked!" from DL visitors (we count those while watching!) and especially when a Cast Member says this. The updates for the HM have us very hopeful for our trip (keeping up to date as much as possible for rope drop plans, especially if it is virtual que). We love the math you do for the ride ques, again, this really has helped us on how we are planning our days in the parks (there will be 9 of us). Doing mobile food ordering has never really been taken advantaged of while we do WDW (only 4 of us do these trips), but as you have shown, this will be a game changer for us. I have noticed that you have given up on the tree house, reporting that the buckets are not working....so sad they took all that time to refurb this and they do not work. I do want to tease you on how you stated in a previous vid on how Autopia is pronounced...we watched the opening day video and Bob Cummings pronounced it "AUTO Topia"....which of course, as you have stated....it is "AH topia"....just to put a smile on you sir. We very much hope to see you in the parks...I have some Tomorrowland music for you that I noticed is not being played these days when you (and others) walking through that area. Take good care and keep up the wonderful updates!
Thank you for all you do. For too many reasons that I won’t go into, it’s likely I will never get to Disneyland again. But you keep we connected. Bless you.
We were right next to you this morning in line before security. We appreciate everything you do to show us the ins and outs of Disneyland and California ❤️❤️
I'm sure the new Mansion queue will look great when finished. But seeing it get torn up like this has been rough to watch 😄
the bridge to critter country: heading to critter country, I see they chewed-up the concrete immediately after the bridge… That planter in the walls by the park entrance, you can totally see a tree truck dug out under the excavator. hopefully, the tree gets replaced and not removed..
The popcorn cart pavement seems very strange. It's a very weird transition to that square concrete tile from the nicer looking brick pavers.
I thought the same thing. It looks so out of place.
Royal St Bachelors were all time greats! The story I remember is they were allowed to keep their facial hair because they had it while Walt was still alive. When I worked at the park, we were clean shaven with hair cut short!
They’re gonna make sure the queues for mansion and Tiana do not run out into those walkways if at all Possible. Wish they could also figure something better for pirates because it’s insane navigating those areas when it’s busy
@@lindamemo5224 it has been that way for 20 years.
I wonder if the Hungry Bear kitchen expansion is because they want a kitchen closer to the back of the park to produce foods like desserts and snacks that go to carts and small kiosks so they don't have to rely on the kitchens on Main Street plus transporting them across the park
actually the majority of disneyland/dca treats throughout the park are made at the central bakery right near mickey & friends parking lot
Love the newer views but man we’re gonna miss that train
When Disneyland opened they had many corporate sponsors sharing attraction costs. The railroad was payed for by Walt Disney. He had all rights and control.
Great construction update, David! Looking forward to seeing Haunted Mansion reopen! Thank you, David and Liz! Fresh Baked!😊👍🏻👍🏻
Sophia too!
I was at Disneyland on July 13th , we rode on Casey Jr. and 2 trains were running.
Same
Trying to navigate Disneyland, feeling like you're in a maze runner sequel with all these blocked paths! It's amazing to see how much effort goes into maintaining and improving the park. It’s great to see the pet cemetery at the Haunted Mansion being restored. Little touches like these really enhance the park’s charm and nostalgia. What are your thoughts on the potential new attractions at the locations where Doctor Strange’s show used to be? It would be a shame to let it just go unused.
The old commercial for the Atari 2600 game "Tunnel Runner" comes to mind. "They think I am trapped, but I'll escape." That is my favorite Atari 2600 game of all time. I keep up with Disneyland with Freshbaked & a select others. I haven't been to Disneyland since 1998, & DCA was just starting construction. They need the Peoplemover back, The Rocket Rods were horrible!
Getting ready for a birthday trip the 26th-28th! Thanks for the recon!
Have fun
That sounds like a waste of money...
@@yancyturner565 was it so hard to move on with your day? You needed to make comment? It’s mine to waste buddy.
Have a great birthday trip and best wishes on your birthday!😊🎉
@@niptsit’s actually really fun, have a great time 😃
We were there Thursday-Saturday and Casey Jr was running two trains all three days.
Hungry Bear is growing the kitchen, not the dining area. They currently take forever to get the food out, maybe with a larger kitchen they can get the turnaround time down a bit.
@9:59 haha the story team at galaxys edge strikes again. God forbid the sign said "the exit toward critter country is closed. To return to disneyland, please exit through big thunder trail."
Or they could just put "This is not the way".
Is being this early to a FreshBaked video considered rope dropping?
😅
Certainly!
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!!
Life is difficult, frustrating, and really hard. David job is to bring Disneyland Joy!!! He does it expertly!!! ALWAYS a joy and soothing to watch his content! KUDOs!
I want to go but I don’t want to go until all this construction is done. 😅
Can we get the Country Bears back at Disneyland?
Dude. There is NOWHERE to sit and eat in DCA----set up some tables & umbrellas in that Dr Strange area (for now!) and it would be full *all day*. Unfortunate that the show was canceled, but just like Aladdin's Oasis, it could be a place of zen to eat an Award Weiner. 🤷🏼♀️
Would not be opposed. The Ancient Sanctum is pretty much the only part of Avengers Campus that does anything for me. I enjoy just hanging out there.
@@sherrolsimard9256now that the Dr strange show has been cancelled, isn’t it going to be used as the entrance queue for the avengers e ticket ? I read a few articles about it but it’s a rumor that’s been going around a lot
🤷♀️ That would be OK, too. Just saying I like the space.
It is being used as a meet and greet area. I'm sure it helps the actors from being in direct sunlight and over heating.
@@gothamsangel I wonder if the rumors are true that it’s going to be used as the entrance queue for the avengers e ticket
Don't be expecting the new turnstiles to be coming anytime soon. They removed the test Gates over at DCA a couple of weeks ago
I saw you this morning catching B roll for Matterhorn, would've said hi but I couldnt catch you. Nice to see you though
David I think it’s time for another series of Top 10
At 3:22 there is animatronics buried under there were there used to be a path so they are probably gonna run into those soon
19:18 construction permit for Critter Country bridge just says “Remove And Replace Bridge Surface Topping. Install New Beam And Strengthen Girders.” Will certainly include new paving which will be cool but it seems like some necessary structure upgrades as well.
looks like there will no longer be queue space on the bridge, perhaps futureproofing the walkway for disneyland forward entrance through critter country???
I was at the parks yesterday and there were 2 trains at Casey Jr.
Exceptional commentary by ‘David !!!💯🥊🥊🙏🏼
Have you heard anything more on the opening date for haunted mansion ? Just as the calender is showing on the 26th of September as still closed 😢😢 also love your updates as always !!!!
I hope things reopen before I go!
I’ll be in Disneyland next week! I really wish the ride will be open next week!! 😭😭 haunted mansion is my favorite rife
The only umbrellas I could see to fit near the matterhorn would be the same type umbrellas/ tent we have at our Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom
My gut says the next 2 major things to break ground after Tiana's/New Orleans/Critter Country and Parkside Market will be Avengers E-Ticket since the location is already earmarked and has been for years and it won't require any other major projects be completed first, and the Eastern Gateway because I really don't see them starting to build out on any of the existing parking lots until that new mega structure is completed and the transportation hub moved. Side note, I really hope they have some method of fixed transportation between Easter Gateway and the Esplanade because that will be quite a walk without a people mover, tram, skyliner, etc.
I really hope so too! They really need to announce way more info on it and a construction start date for it, at this years d23. Plus the campus badly needs that ride
Until they build the Avengers E ticket, the campus will always be the Avengers Hallway in my mind! Thanks Brickey!
@@pinball541 exactly 😂, the land badly needs the e ticket. Until it does get that, the land sucks especially web slingers and the now closed Dr strange show
I suspect that they will pause any new Marvel additions until they are sure that there’s still momentum for the franchise/genre.
@@wraithkelso though I am sad to say this, look for Disney to go after frontier land. They have been busy removing Walt.
Yay can’t wait
I hope they add a new restaurant to hungry bear! Those bears sure are hungry
Planning for the future. Critter Country will be the main walkway to the expansion. Hungry Bear will be busier
I seen you and your wife last night. So cute, both of you on a bench on your cell phones. I didn't want to bother you guys....you were both very intent. hehehe. I had just gotten off Space Mountain that shut down mid ride. It was so cool....I have been going there since the ride opened....never had I seen the inside with the lights on in person . I'll post the video soon.
Rope dropped this video! Thanks, Fresh Baked!
great update
The way is closed! It was made by those who are building and the builders keep it, The way is closed!
Fresh Baked fan at 16:07? 😂
State of DCA coming soon..?
Thanks for the updates on Mansion and TBA!
The business publication estimated that over the past four years, about $142 million was spent transforming the ride into a Louisiana bayou.
When is Haunted Mansion going to open? It was speculated that it would be open by or before the 23rd of August but according to DL park hours, it’s still closed as of the 26th.
August 23rd or the 26th maybe David will let us know when
Seems like Disney should also put some warning of the closures on the map that is in the app...
What if the umbrellas that you mentioned for the Matterhorn are going to be placed within the stations? Things to ponder
It is sad to see family bricks removed in the esplanade. I know they don’t guarantee them staying but it is still sad.
What do they do with them when they remove them?
@@JH-lu5yg they are destroyed.
It doesn't look like any of the family pavers were touched. All the bricks that have been removed appear to just be regular brick pavers.
2 trains were running on Saturday 7/13/24
Maybe hungry bear is being connected to the underground spaces at harbor galley? Or is it already? The kitchen expansion might be related to prep for their food stands
The removed tree on the plaza was laying right next to the "digger" inside the walls.
I wonder if lessons were learned from Florida’s Tianas Bayou Adventure and we will see some differences
They may have. That new ride needs a large consistent current of electricity. Prior animatronics were straightforward. The new ones are much more difficult to construct and run. The characters do shutdown if there is no boat in their view, they cycle down , when the next enters the zone they are a go.
So ride timing.is much more critical.
Any guess how long the Monorail will be closed? A refurbishment is scheduled for it soon.
I think the permits are for the electrical work in criter country
Permits would be needed for plumbing repairs or new construction. The splash as evidenced at WDW need huge sums of electrical current so permis needed. The servo motors run the animatronics and these characters are a heavy weight.
If you try to go down the secured pathway, Mando will tell you "This is NOT the way!"
Hey David at the exit of the haunted mansion I think they building the gift shop
Someday Disneyland won’t be under construction, I really look forward to that time.
It is a blessing that Disneyland is always getting improvements! I am also a WDW annual passholder and those parks do not get as much love and TLC as Disneyland. Do I miss Haunted Mansion, yes. Is it a hassel to deal with construction, yes. But they are just making our parks better.
That probably won't happen though this is excessive.
@@happydisneyteacher7557 because of your annual pass
I witnessed 2 trains at Casey jr. on Monday 7/15.
@24:30 the most interesting area of avengers campus, at least architecturally, has no purpose now
How about a new construction rating system. How many fence segments are at the park on a given day. This would give some indication of how much of the park is a construction zone.
Hopefully we get info on the Avengers E-Ticket this D23!
What does E- Ticket mean?
@@selfridgefamily7036 Decades ago, guests had to buy books of tickets to ride the attractions, and the attractions were given letter grades -- which were levels of how great the attraction was, essentially. The book would have tickets for different letters/levels. An "E-ticket" attraction was the best level! So when someone says they want an "Avengers E-ticket" it means "a fantastic, major Avengers attraction" (like a Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, etc.). The term is still used even though the tickets are no longer used.
I really hope so too! Especially since it was announced all the way back in 2019, yet it’s 2024 now and they still haven’t started construction on it yet!
@@selfridgefamily7036 the level of better rides. Back in the day when a ticket book was needed. There was a-e tickets. And E tickets were used for the best rides.
@@selfridgefamily7036……Google original Disneyland ticket books.
Okay, so something must have gone wrong at HM. Because it has been confirmed to reopen on August 25th with virtual queue. But right now the Disneyland refurb calendar goes up to August 29th and HM is still showing on there. I'm wondering if something happened there and it is not gonna be able to open when it has been slated to
I think they should do a Dr strange magic show in the DCA theater. Have something in there again. It could be cheaper than a big cast.
I saw a comment about him deserving a better magic show somewhere else and had the idea.
Isn’t the Dr strange sanctum going to be used as the entrance for the avengers e ticket? Or are you talking about the old muppet vision theater/hyperion
@@dayoldbread1696 I mean the Hyperion.
@@JH-lu5yg ohh my bad. I just hope they build the avengers e ticket ride soon
I’m fixated on the esplanade sidewalk. Are they digging up some of the commemorative bricks? I always go lay on the ground next to my family brick and have someone take my photo with it on every visit.
There was two trains on Saturday 7/14 😊 for Casey’s 😊
A better question is why they couldn’t wait until splash mountain was done.
Plumbing
Sounds like they are replacing some old electrical equipment, they must have tested their auto-matic transfer switch and had problems with it. basically power goes out, generator comes on transfer switch turns off because of power outage, allows generator to turn on and provide emergency power. This is most likely to keep the walkways outisde lit and the turnstiles to have emergency power.
Those cherry pickers and those green tents arent new. Thats just where those particular ones are always parked. The tents are storage for stuff(disney secret, not related to avengers)
I do like that stone wall They're building next to the Briar Patch.
Wonder what will happen with all the bricks with names on them on the Esplanade, it did look like they were digging in those areas.
They are not. If you look closely they are digging out an area of regular brick pavers that extend like rays between the family name pavers.
@@thulcandran phew
That sign is obnoxious!
Are they installing some bricks with your mane on it? I would love one
Dr Strange, Golden Horseshoe, etc may all be closed due to the upcoming union negotiations.
when do you think tiana bayou will open?
Thanksgiving-Christmas most likely.
Heard anything about Disneyland going on strike the castmembers voting to authorize on July 19th. I hope Disneyland would not be closed down due to a strike.
If they strike it isn't easy to temporarily fill spots nor should it be
That sign in GE is ridiculous. I sat there at 9:30 p.m. for 5 minutes and the poor CM that had to turn back guests in a nice way. Clearly people dont get it. They need to be explicit.
Hey Fresh Baked!!
And the hyperion still vacant too.😢
Why does Doctor Strange's space setting empty come as a surprise Disney has done this for years. They close attention, and let it sit for years before putting anything in.
DCA- Disney Construction Areas
Are they getting rid of the bricks people purchased?
The ones they have dug up are broken rubble now, so yes.
No. they haven't touched any of the family name pavers.
There is no way TBA will be opened before the end of August. I suspect it will be closer to December.
Amazing update, great work.
I know you won’t give a firm answer, but if you were a gambling man, what’s your guess on when Tiana/Critter country will open up?
THIS lol. I NEED an answer 😭 I love Critter country
He’s already said he think late September but then he also commented a few videos ago he thought maybe they’d taken construction workers from Tiana’s to speed up HM so could have extended Tianas
Are they digging up bricks in the Esplanade or the custom pavers? 🤔
Yup. Those dug up pavers are rubble.
They are just digging up regular brick pavers, not the custom ones with the family names.
rides at California great America went though refurbishment as will
What do you mean by this E ticket by avengers? Is it another park entrance?
@@Diane-DIO Thank you for answering this!
Have they given an ETA on Haunted Mansion reopening?
So is Disney just gonna get rid of all the old good rides cause I always wanted to visit splash mountain and the haunted mansion and I never got to
They didn’t get rid of either
There is an old adage if ain't broke don't fix it. I would say every ride is now on notice.
It seem like the majority of this work could have or should have been done in the early spring. To be doing this during the busy summer months is poor planning. All of the out of town guests that had planned their summer vacations are paying full price and getting a less than stellar experience at the parks. hmmm...
Actually given the 3 day ticket deal, no they’re not. And people that booked packages in advance were able to call and get refunds.
I must comment here. Southern California had a Ton of rain this Winter/Spring. It seems pretty impractical and unsafe to have all the construction you are complaining about be Don in our Monsoon days!
When do you think Tiana’s Bayou adventure will open?
One thought about the Avengers e-ticket...once that goes in where we all expect it, it would mean there would be no benefit for Disney to ever acquire the Candy Cane Inn, Desert Palms, and Alpine Inn hotel properties because the Avengers e-ticket would block access.
If they acquired those properties they could push show buildings further toward Harbor and Katella and have room for a mini-land.
Maybe it seems unlikely they'd be able to buy those properties (since they haven't already), I know the family that owns Candy Cane Inn has said they'd never sell, but as generations pass on and families grow, sometimes it's a pain to hold on to businesses and selling becomes more appealing.
Maybe the delay on Avengers e-ticket is because they're trying to acquire those properties. Not trying to start a rumor here, just saying "now's the time to do it" ...or never, once they build Avengers it's much less useful. (By that logic, now is also the time for those hotels to sell in order to get the highest possible price, once Avengers goes in the price Disney is willing to pay would go down.)
Here's my question. Do you think 🤔 after when Downtown Disney & Tianas Bayou Adventures construction 🚧 and HM are done. Do you think they will work on Tommrowland next.
I think it’s gotta be coming sometime but I’m sure it’s expensive so they may have a break between big projects.
There is some evidence that Tomorrowland will be worked on soon. Not a redo. Just a major "spruce-up"!
Splash mountain conversion to tianas coast 142 million between disneyland and disney world. Really wish theyvhad left the west end of disneyland flawlessly alone and used that money on tomorrowland or fixing galaxys edge (ie more characters, music, a new millennium falcon mission).
Our tianas honestly will look better than magic kingdoms. I dont know why or how, but it does appear more natural here
I had the opportunity to see the ride as it is today at WDW
First splash mountain has a clear storyline from scene to scene and an extremely catchy tune. The animatronics are plentiful and are designed to run continuously with simplified body actions.
The new version has far fewer audio animatronics. Reason being they can produce smooth varied actions but that comes at a price. They are electricity hogs. And this complicates synching ride and entertainment together. You do not want them to operate unless a boat is coming into view then they go active. So anticipate a tough break in.
And last I have no idea what the story line is at the end of the ride.
@davidculver5446 what a mess lol even if it WAS good, its still a waste of money because there was already a successful ride operating there
@@davidnevolo4402 agreed.if ain't broke don't fix it. My memory of splash was riding it 9 times in a row with my daughter at 8 in the morning. It got to the point they just kept sending us through.
If you add up lost revenue, demolition costs, development of new animatronics that run on new technology and last but not least a terrible hit on goodwill with ticket buyers. This was a bridge too far.
@@davidculver5446 yup and that 142 million could have gone to NEW RIDES
