    • @Hachapuri69
      @Hachapuri69  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eeeey! They speak Altai language, related to turkic languages. Its difficult for me to understand their words. Of course, Turkic and Mongolic languages borrowed each others words, so I might see a familiar word here and there but definitely not enough to understand contexts
      My guess is that they sing about the musical instrument tovshuur? xD

    Hi! I just recently found your channel and I love your videos as I find learning about language and music from other cultures really interesting. I was curious where you got your channel name "Hachapuri" from? I am actually Georgian and I realised it looks a lot like the word "khachapuri", which roughly translates to cheese bread. I the found in the description for the Coffin Dance remix video, you are credited as "Hachapuri Hinkali". Hinkali, I assume comes from the Georgian dumplings, khinkali (which of course was one of the best things being part of the Mongol Empire gave us (: ). So I was curious what the story was behind your name and whether you might have some interest in Georgia?

    I have a sincere question completely unrelated to throat singing, is your name genuinely that long? Is that naming convention a common thing and if so, could you perhaps elaborate a bit more on how/why this came about?
    Like what the fuck are all those words xD Are they other names? places? concepts? Are they specifically chosen because they represent something or do they just like, sound nice? I'm genuinely curious and mean precisely zero disrespect - I just had to ask. It's not every day you come across someone with hair as long as their name.
    Loved the video man. Thank you for insights.

    Hi Batman lol sorry, I'm 58yr old woman learning something new and I think you're awesome. I'm following reasonably well however I need to lengthen my notes. My question is could you do a special video just on tongue positions for changing pitch. I can't quite get it or have I missed that video. Curious, con you you throat and polyphonic at the same time 😜

      Its so cool you are learning these techniques! :D
      I've done videos where I share what I know about throat/overtone singing, you could find it by searching "hachapuri sygyt"
      Sygyt or isgeree khoomei is a combination of khuumei and overtone singing, which is considered to be the most technically challenging technique :P
      Thank you for watching this video :D

      @@Hachapuri69 That's actually cool to know because I can do both together. I used to make lots of weird noises with my voice as a kid and it comes easily to me. Hey, I figured out how to do the Golden vibration but I can only hold it for a few seconds and also I can't make any other sound at the same time like humming so it's just the Golden vibration and nothing else. Any tips?

    • @Hachapuri69
      @Hachapuri69  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If its possible, try to follow me on the kargyraa video. In my opinion, one of the best way to learn is through imitation, at least in my experience xD
      When I do golden vibration and then kargyraa, try to do the same while listening to it. After some time, I think you will get it :D

    • @bongwick7629
      @bongwick7629 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hachapuri69 thanks for answering and yes I agree that imitating is a good way to practise but it's hard to know if I'm doing something wrong and that's why I can't do it or maybe it's just my throat not being used to this kind of sound because I can feel it straining the muscles a little bit. I will continue practising some other day.
      I'm glad that I found your channel though because I practised throat singing a little like a couple years ago and I could never figure out how to do that really low sound. I ended up learning to just hum and use my tongue to change the sound of the hum, I kind of like this way of throat singing too because you can make higher pitched sounds and the overtone (not sure if it's called that but I mean the second sound that comes from the initial hum) of higher frequencies sound very different from the low ones.

    Breathing from my stomach or my chest makes no difference in length I can hold a note for or the sound of the note so I am assuming what I do is not throat singing?
    It sounds way different than yours and I don't mean that "I'm a beginner and it just doesn't sound as good as an experienced throatsinger" different. I mean the tone is completely different almost as if im using the wrong kind of vibration..
    I watched a vid yesterday and the guy explained it as follows.
    If you rustle your throat (clear your throat) there is a certain type of noise you make just at the end of the process, you basically hold that and that's throat singing but I am unsure if what I got is the right thing and I don't wanna damage my vocal chords.

      It's funny you say this, bc I had been working on deep death metal growling for a while and couldn't figure out how to stop it from hurting until I started figuring out kargyraa. It was really just a small shift from what I'd been doing for death growls, slightly different sound but I actually like it better in the contexts where I want to use a deep death growl, and now feels ok until my vocal muscles get tired and I lose control of it, but I've been able to improve my stamina with practice.
      I can't do khoomei for shit, though (and forget about sygyt, I can't even sound BAD at it yet), so you're ahead of me on that front.
