If you ever watched Fist Of Fury that's almost as close a scene of a Kung Fu artist going into a room of training Karatekas. That scene reminded me so much of Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee also broke out his Nunchucks in this movie (he was taught how to use them by another martial artist who used them before him). I still like the less dramatic part of this scene by Jet Li over Bruce Lee every time.
I still think this is Jet Li's absolute best international film. So much about it was so goddamn amazing. Cory Yuen's choreography, Luc Besson/Chris Nahon direction, Craig Armstrong's score...great flick. Can't believe it's already 20 yrs old.
So fun Fact this was Jet Li's answers to all the critics that constantly said all he does is use wire work. Li purposefully wanted to take a realistic approach to the fight scenes, and forgo the CGI and wire work that had been popularized by films such as Charlie’s Angels and The Matrix. It is notable as most of the action sequences did not use CGI or wire work; only two scenes required CGI enhancement and only one scene involved wire work
The smaller twin was in Die Hard 4.0 and also the 2 District 13 films with another guy who was the co founder of Parkour. Love this scene and also the one where he goes in empty handed and fights about 30 black belts carry double sticks. He ends up disarming a couple and using the sticks on all of them. Great scene!
It's a great movie and the villain has one of the best quotes ever. So he's an evil pimp and kidnaps a girls daughter so mom would work for him. Kid is bored and wants to play. Kid: "don't you have any Barbies?" Him: "No, all my Barbies are at work."
Small blondie is played by french actor/stuntman/fight coodinator Cyril Raffaelli. He worked on Luc Besson productions (District 13, The Transporter 1&2), Die Hard 4 and The Incredible Hulk (parkour coodinator, Tim Roth stunt double).
You totally missed how Jet limited his kick by fighting in the cubicles. Oh and he kicked the switch in the beginning of the scene to keep the other French officers out of the fight.
Yeah, that was brilliant use of the environment. Neutralize the disadvantage and capitalize on the new advantage. That was enough to make him a bit loopy and make that final mistake with that flip.
Well killed! The white guy was very famous or famous in France based on some videos I watched. Going back to Jet, he has his very heavy hits despite not being muscular. I really love his punches when he traped the French guy. They are not only so fast but heavy. I kept on watching that seen Everytime I watch it. Effortless. And the final kick is a kaboom! Looks like being smashed by Thor's mallet.
I think a few scenes from Blood and Bone with Michael Jai white would be interesting to react to. One thing I love about that movie is it shows he notices their weaknesses when they fight others and takes advantage of those weaknesses.
the music is really what makes this movie's fight scenes so epic. The fight scenes choreography are also excellent ,of course, but the music really gets the viewer involved and more interested in the fights, which is why i think this is the best martial arts movie off all time
I’m new to your channel. Just subscribed. You’re a cool guy. Like your vibe. Appreciate you bro, Kiss Of The Dragon is one of my favorite jet li movies! 🐉 🍿
Hey mate thanks for subscribing glad you're enjoying the videos. I'm having a great time watching with you guys and learning from you all about the scenes and movies. Kiss of the dragon is an all time classic!
Too much shaking camera and cut. Yess that one is also my favorite fight all time in movie. Really revolusioner in term of martial act by mixing hand to hand and gun. The final fight is so intense.
i remember seeing an interview for this movie where Max Ryan said the director forgot to say cut during a scene and a fight scene came right after so jet li grabbed him pulled him down and just smacked him lol
That's Cyril Rafaelli. French martial artist. What I took away from the fight was that Li's character uses strategy which is not utilized by the twins. Li's character uses strategy by leading his opponent to a restricted environment that takes his kicking ability out of play as well as the other attacker.
The little twin is Cyril Raffaelli who is a renown French martial artist. The clever bit is how Jet's character draws his into the cubicles where the confined space nullifies his ability to use his devastating circle kick and he has to rely on his hands. The big twin, Didier Azoulay, isn't a martial artist, just a really big dude, heavily muscular and nearly two meters tall. At 6'6" (198cm) he is a foot taller than Jet (167cm).
Cyril Raffaelli is awesome! I saw some BTS footage, and that flip kick he did, was done with wires. He was actually able to do it without wires but it was too fast for the camera to catch so to slow it down they used wires. He also doubled for Tim Roth in The Incredible Hulk. He was the one evading the Hulk’s blows in the fight at the university
People always say short people cant beat tall people in a fight when they can but if you disadvantage them with rules of course its hard to win, but in a realistic environment its possible. Jet restricted his movement with the office twisted his leg/kick to the balls, then two palms to the ears to disorientate then finishing move. Hell bruce lee in "game of death" showed real moves to beat a 7ft gut aswell
Also the smaller twin is Cyril Raffaelli. French martial artist , stunt coordinator and stuntman. He was in Live Free or Die Hard. Also his main films were District B13 and District B13 Ultimatum. With his parkour friend and one of the main cofounders of parkour in general, David Belle. Great action/martial arts movies. Check those ones out and have a reaction, it’d be dope.
The "small" twin is: Cyril Raffaelli - Known from District B13 (Banlieue 13) and Disctict 13 Ultimatum (Banlieue 13: Ultimatum) Cyril has some absolutely nuts fight scenes in both of those movies well worth the checking.
Check out the Police dojo fight in the same movie and as others have suggested District B13 and the sequel B13 Ultimatum for some good Cyril Raffaelli work.
The short guy is a french stuntman ciryl rafaelli, taxi, die hard4...the flip is his mark, If you see the transporter movie he was statham choregrapher and stuntman
It's a great film. One thing I've noticed is the number of cuts in the fight scenes, in contrast to Jackie Chan films where they tend to have more extended sequences before cutting to a different angle. But still good stuff.
Is it me or did Jet Li have another movie similar to Kiss of the Dragon out around the same time? I definitely remember confusing this movie with another one of his.
I dunno, I liked Forbidden Kingdom, if only because we got a Jackie and Jet movie made by a American company, before Hong Kong or China did. WTF is up with that. Closest we got otherwise was Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh in the same film.
PLEASE do the swimming pool fight with Jet Li from "Danny the Dog" or "Unleashed" as it is called here in the UK. Or, in fact, ANY fight from that film.
I saw it as, "Unleashed". So.F*cking.Sad. An absolutely brilliant movie, but it's just so sad until the end. An excellent movie that anyone into martial arts should watch. I completely forgot about that film until you reminded me of that. Thank you.
Note to self: No drop kicks when fighting small, fast martial arts experts. Use flamethrower instead. Or maybe large sack full of rabid rats. Oh, hell. Just nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 I’ve seen mostly one on one stuff on your channel. Be great to see your perspective on a guy fighting multiple people in more diverse environments.
You should check out the final fight scene from The One, where jet li fights himself from another dimension. It’s a cool scene because jet li uses two different styles for each character.
The scene of Jet Li accidentally entering the police station training room and fighting everyone with batons is also a great one from this movie.
Even the karate guys too if you remember
He was so damn fast in that.
I love every fight in this movie.
Great scene. Great movie. Kind of sucked that the main protagonist was nowhere near to being a decent fighter

I know right ?!
This is because Jet wrote this film.. This is the type of film he's wanted to make for a long time... So he wrote this film
Cyril Raffaeli is so underrated, it's a crime.
Ya he can actually fight he was a champion in france
I would say that Cyril Raffaeli was even better than Jet Li.
The Twins knew what they were doing too.
He's really good in District 13 too - that's a great film.
@@Parker8752 That was a great movie. Don't know why they did a weak remake with "Brick Mansions"...

sick
This fight scene is one of my favorite of Jet Li.
This movie was so good in the theater that everyone stood up and clapped when it was over.
I remember at this time, like early 2000s no one had seen anything like this. Great movie and perfect action.
