Another fix is to fabricate a U shaped cup from a steel plate with a hole at the bottom. Weld to the exterior wall and interior wall of the frame. Welding will be easy due to easy access.

Same problem for my Vue 2007. Common for similar GM cars. You can search the web and find a solid fix. Use a 2'x3"x12" square steel tube. Weld it to the beam after you clean up the rusted sheet metal. Cut the bolt through the wheel well hole. A mobile welder may charge $300 for a trip to your home to weld both cradles. Other than using the square tube, a thick curved (because the support beam is curved) 3" wide steel plate perhaps 1.5 ft long welded to the frame (beam) with a weld-in bolt will do as well. GM should have warned everyone, so we can rust roof that cradle.
Temporary fix to make it safer if your top beam shows no rust like in my case: Get a "1/2-in x 6-in Galvanized Exterior Anchor Bolt" in a big box store to hook it up. I used a copper tubing as spacer. (You can fish a long bolt downward by using a larger square breathing hole on the same beam (visible underneath) the car). Advice: Get a $20 reciprocating saw blade for metal cutting to make the cutting much easier through that wheel well hole opening. In my case, the square nut was cut, but the bolt was still not loose. Would not turn due to rubber bounce. I had to cut the top fitting (inside that big rubber cup) partially to make it loose. That was the hardest part. There is a slit to slide in a big washer above that hole.

So far I have everything cut out. I cut the bolt just below the square nut but can't get the bolt out of the bushing. I will get it out eventually because I am stubborn.

@@tylerexperience Same for me. Cutting the nut won't let go the bolt. I had to make another cut below that nut. Use a breaker bar to loosen the bottom bolt. Hard because the rubber cushion bounced. Eventually, it started to get loose. I got two 2"x3"x12" tubes online (3/16" thick, 2.5 kg each tube). I plan to bolt it to the from using one 1/2" bolt (5.5" from passenger end) and use JB Weld epoxy. It is very strong stuff. Arc weld if needed later. Multiple layers to support: The 6" bolt dropped from the factory top hole on the frame, bolt at 5.5", JB Weld to fuse the 12" tube with the frame (additional brackets easily added later if at all needed).

@@timguy161 finally got that stubborn bolt out. Plenty of penetrating oil and hit it for a while with the air hammer from the top. It eventually started to move just a little and then I knew I had won. Now for the other side.

Did it work ? Did you fix the problem

It worked. Spent about $20 on grade 8 hardware. Been driving it for 6 months and the repair is holding up fine.

Did you get it to work just using the longer bolt. I’m about to go outside right now and investigate the same issue on my 07 Vue. Welding might be an option for me.

Yes I ran a longer bolt through it and up through the hole in the top of the frame. I think it was a 5.5 inch bolt with a two inch spacer to replace the part of the mount that I cut out. I have another video I can upload of the finished product. Been driving it for six months like that and so far no problems.

I just uploaded another video of what it looked like after I rigged up a bolt and washer stack to hold it together. Driven it several thousand miles like that so far and it feels just like it did before it rotted out. Seems to be holding together just fine. Spent about $20 and used a 2 inch steel spacer I had laying around.
