My guess is that Discord made those bugs before he got sealed he got sealed in stone the second time or shortly after Celestia released him under fluttershy’s care, the guy can be pretty vindictive when he wants to be and just plum forgot about the bugs since they didn’t hatch when he thought they would

@@n3m3sis82 in mlp, every creature has some varying degree of magic, including the earth horses. So the infection usually gains a resistance against magic, at least, in terms of magic being able to dispel the infection.
