  • The Hyundai i30 small hatchback is one of Australia's highest-selling vehicles, making the brand new third-generation version launched in April a highly significant car.
    Put mildly, this Korean rival to the Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3 - chief among a plethora of small car offerings in the market - is a prime candidate for a full range review.
    Here we take a look at the five specification levels offered, as well as the three engine offerings oriented respectively to cost, fuel economy or dynamic performance and response.

    I just ordered a manual SR. I couldn't fault it on the test drive, put a smile on my face. A few years ago I wouldn't have even considered a Korean car, they have moved up in leaps and bounds!

      Extra ten grand, may have looked at the Kia stinger in that case.

      Will pick up a new i30 SR Manual next week. While it's disappointing some of the safety technology is missing in the SR Manual compared to the auto the enjoyment I got out of driving the manual over the auto made it a compelling choice. Not to mention it was $2k cheaper as well.

      I totally agree. I mooved from VW to Kia 4years and loved the Rio thats now the 2012 Rio. Then i20 1.4D with 220nm, guess what 136000km and still as new. No trouble at all. They truely build great cars.

    So interesting. In the UK, the offer is 1.0 litre or 1.4 litre petrol.
    You Aussies must like bigger engines!

    Correction: The poverty spec one is actually called the "Go." The active is next in the range.

    • @andrewtadeu9539
      @andrewtadeu9539 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you add smart sense pack to a used one? Thinking if getting the i30 active from a hyundai dealer, it has 9 thousand odd kms on it.

    • @bennyboost
      @bennyboost 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The "Go" didn't exist at the time this video was made. That's a newer addition and the Active was the former 'poverty spec'. The GO is very poverty pack though, with steel wheels and no leather wrap steering wheel.

    So the pick of the range is the one we don't show....
    What do you get in the SR Premium over the SR other than automatic?
    Doesn't say anything about this model, but still gives it the pick.
    Comprehensive review of the range (I like this idea) but should provide more info on the actual model you prefer.

    If you want to stay within the speed limits, than the 2.0 litre has more than enough power.

    what the difference between the i30 GO model and the i30 Active model? These seems to be the base models advertise on the Hyundai website

    • @benhuang2773
      @benhuang2773 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The i30 Go was recently introduced to slot below the Active. Unlike the Active, it lacks inbuilt GPS, digital radio, and alloy wheels.

    • @pregardt
      @pregardt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have the active. I highly recommend go for the active. Go model is for rental car fleets.
      Active has side blinker on the mirrors too and auto folding mirrors when you lock the car.

    • @pregardt
      @pregardt 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mate,
      I think get the Active. It is a good value for the money.
      Let me know if you have any questions.

      eagle boy good choice i don't have the safety pack but it is a good value! I love mine it is very easy to drive and park. Very realible. Hyunday give you 5 years of warranty so the are trust in there product. Ur wife will love it. I have the paint protection plus tinted windows pack on mine. I would say get those from third party for much cheaper. Keep us updated about the car. Cheers

    a diesel engine is way way more fuel efficient than any petrol engine, diesels already blow away the eco engines.
    while it's way easier to soup up the power in the diesel engine, the petrol will feel a bit more faster when starting.

    I had a drive in one of these. Found the seats feel cheap, hard and uncomfortable. Sitting in the back feels like the rear has no suspension, and the car in general is noisy and lacks power (even for a diesel).

    • @pregardt
      @pregardt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi,
      I disagree with you. I drive the 2.0 161HP base model and it has plenty of power for everyday use and I'm confident when I have to overtake someone. It is not a sports car (base model) but I think it has enough power for 95% of the drivers. For seats I found them nice and comfortable but everyone has different body and needs so it can be uncomfortable. I don't have problem with the seats. I haven't traveled on the back seats so I can't say anything there.
      My friends highlighted that the car is very quite and I agree with them. I barely hear the engine in town, and the noice level is ok to me on the Highway too. It is not an electric car that has 0 road noise but for a relatively affordable and economy family hatch I think the noise canceling is very good. Better than the mazda 3 eg.

    • @jay-uo2bi
      @jay-uo2bi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The diesel model isn't meant to be powerful just super economical for people who do long highway commutes. The base model 2.0 is actually very powerful even when compared to Mazda 3 SP25. Though I do slightly agree the cloth seats feel a tad firm. The 2.0 is also extremly quiet and when idling, you can barely even tell if the car is running!
