    Is it still worth carrying? Is it still worth carrying!? I love my Shield. It was the gun that made me fall for the whole M&P line.

      I can say the same. Went one day to Gun Store to purchase G43 for my EDC and they were sold out. Salesman asked me if I ever considered the Shield and handed me one. Drove home that day with Shield 9mm and have never regretted it one single day. That was 5 years ago and have since added some Talon Grips and have ended up carrying my Shield more than any other gun I own and have complete confidence that my M&P Shield could do the job if ever called upon. (hope that day never comes). Ain't never had a single problem with it other than hurtin' my fingers loadin' those mags of theirs and it has been very accurate. You cannot go wrong with the Shield. I love my M&P Shield 9mm.

      i have tried many many pistols for carrying,,,, the m&p shield has ALWAYS been my go to for conceal carry EVERYTIME,,,, i just bought the 45acp shield to go with my 9mm shield,,, has a freaking sweet trigger,,,,, i am VERY hard to please when it comes to triggers,,,, i was giddy after shooting the 45 yesterday,,, i think its a bot better then my 9mm

    I've carried a Performance Center Shield in 9mm for a couple years now, and I love it. Not too big. Easy to carry. Very accurate. I have yet to have any issues after roughly 2k rounds through it. Unfortunately I have had to use it in a self defense situation. It performed very well, and I went home to my family. People say the ported barrel is a problem when firing at night. I didn't find this an issue. Muzzle flash was really no more than an non ported barrel, and I had no problem engaging my target. For those looking for an EDC. This may be what you're looking for.

      I bought one and in the excitement of buying a new gun I somehow didn't notice the ported barrel until the next day. Thank you for this info, I was kind of worried about the barrel but this made me feel way better

    As usual, excellent quality presentation. I absolutely love my Shield, in fact so much so that I am considering an Apex trigger. I don't especially like buying pistols with the idea of having to upgrade them but this one is my EDC and will be well worth the money.

  • @x.adam1

    I love my Shields. I bought the PC version and switched slide with my basic Shield. Then, I put the internals of the PC into my basic Shield. The Perf Center then got the Apex flat trigger kit. I ended up with a non safety Perf Center with an Apex trigger with a 3.5lb trigger and night sights. My basic Shield now has a great crisp trigger as well.

    Carried the original shield since a few months after it came out. Every day. Thousands of rounds and not a single issue. Got the shield .45. Live that one too. And the 2.0 5 inch 9 for competitive shooting. Love them all with no issues in any of them.

    I love mine. I switch the magazine springs with mag guts. +1 on the large and +2 on the small. Allows 19 in a small appendix carry. I want the 365, but I have 1200 through this gun and not a single malfunction. I trust it and it does what I want it to do. I have the original btw

    It is ignorance for those people who complain of S&W's rust; sweat is alkaline and it's corrosive. ALL GUNS ARE SUBJECT TO CORROSION. Really good video.

    • @rgjr.6055
      @rgjr.6055 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you and the slides are stainless steel I thought. So they are already resistant to rust and will most likely tarnish first. A little bit of cleaning and protectant goes a long way.

I am in my 2.0 $286 and I kept the personal metal lockable case too. The stock trigger, for me, is just fine. Only thing I change out is the sights to Ameriglo Spartans.

    I still carry my 1.0 every single day. I threw the tlr-6 on it. Perfect for me. I just ordered a Compact 2.0 & if I like the texture I’m gonna go ahead & upgrade to a 2.0 shield, but I’m still keeping my 1.0 cause it’s still a perfect gun for me.

    My wife had this as her carry gun , but she went and purchased the Walther PPS M2 and loves it so much more . The shield is an Awesome firearm and very reliable , but for my wife the recoil and ergos are so much better for Her. And she gets rounds on Target much better then the shield . I can personally shoot either one just fine, but the recoil goes back into her hands , whereas the shields muzzle rises up on her . She gets a much better grip on the Walther , but She has Arthritis in her hands . She loved the EZ smith & Wesson , but we are not sure how we feel about the .380 Cal as a Carry gun. We are gonna pick up an EZ in the future , who knows maybe she like that even better then tbe Walther, but as for now she loves the Walther . This was just a matter of a better fit and match for Her. But I know for most men and women the shield is and would be a Great Firearm . Great video as Always KS , and have a Blessed and Safe weekend .......

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The PPS is a great gun indeed Steven. I agree, the ergos are spot on and I can see why she likes it. I ran with one for a quite a while and really enjoyed it. I’d love to give the EZ a go at some point. I hear great things about it. As for 380, I think it’s still a worthy round and will do the job. I recommend full metal jackets in it (just my opinion) as many find them to have better penetration. Have a great weekend and cheers brother!

    • @brucedon1951
      @brucedon1951 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your looking for a 380 i would recommend a bersa thunder 380cc i have one the recoil reminds me of shooting a 22 pistol you cant go wrong.

    • @toshashoots5114
      @toshashoots5114 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and Concealed Carry Instructor, I highly recommend the EZ 380. I start my students with the .22 compact, move up to the EZ 380, then to the Shield. The EZ 380 is my wife's gun as she has severe arthritis in her hand and she can rack the slide with no problem and shoots it well. The 380 is a good defensive cartridge and will certainly do the job. I recommend the full metal jacket rounds for winter time and a good hollow point for summer carry.

    I must say initially I didn't care for the Shield out of looks alone, but after buying one on a killer rebate deal last summer for $245, I was blown away completely. It's like this gun was special made for my hand as I shoot it even better than full size pistols and compacts. The 2.0 only sweetened the deal. It truly lives up to it's name and would be a suitable carry piece for anyone looking for an extra lb on them for protection.

    After buying the Shield 2.0 brand new I immediately shot 250 rounds through her without a single malfunction. But for some reason the slide didn’t stay back on one occasion when the mag emptied. However I don’t consider that mishap as an actual malfunction because it didn’t hamper the overall operation of the gun like a misfeed or stovepipe. Other than that I love this gun. She shoots beautifully, smooth yet crisp. I love the thumb safety and she feels so comfortable in my hands. I always carried concealed my Glock 19 in appendix with the Technaclip because I hate holsters so I had to do the no no and not chamber a round which I hated because I want that gun fully ready to fight. I didn’t want to shoot my balls off. Now with the Shield I do not have that problem and she always has a chambered round. She’s also a little smaller and even more concealable which is a bonus. I’ve always been a Glock only guy for years so it’s a lot for me to praise another manufacturer.

    Nice to see the Shield getting some more love. The 2.0 was already out this past year, but I opted for the performance center instead. I couldn't tell the difference on the new trigger and that on the PC..I suspect they are the same.. Which is very good.
    I have found I tend to carry the shield more than any other gun I own. It's just very comfortable and I trust my life with it. Even at the range, it's a lot of fun. As with all single stacks though.. You have to buy a few more mags! 😀

    Love my Shields. Have 2 in 9mm both old models. Both have Ameriglo I Dots. Both have Apex Duty/Carry triggers and both have +2 magazine. Compliments of Pearce Grips. So 9+1 in the gun and a 10 round reload. In a JM Customer's Kydex IWB. Great
    Pistol.

    Carry my 9mm shield 2.0 with green Crimson Trace laser every day. Unbelievable accuracy for a 3.1 inch barrel. Also have the .45 shield which is not considered a 2.0 but it has the improved trigger and more aggressive grip so it's just like a 2.0 . I own Rugers, Berettas, Sigs, H and K's,
    Springfields, and other Smith and Wessons but these two shields are still my favorite guns.

    Wife bought me the Shield Performance Center a couple years ago for Christmas when we got our CCWs. Still love it to this day and the only thing I have done to it is added the Hyve +2 base plates. Run Federal Premium Personal Defense 135grain and it shoots them just fine. Have put everything from steel cased Wolf 115gr to my normal range rounds, LAX Ammo Reman 115gr, through it to the tune of over 1k rds and never had a hiccup. I eventually will be changing out to a compact, probably a CZ 75 Compact or CZ P-01, but that really is only about having that extra capacity. May one day throw an Apex trigger in there but for now the Performance Center trigger is just fine (and much better than the original 1.0).

  • @xenonram
    @xenonram 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got my S&W Shield 2.0 on sale for $360. (They had the Crimson Trace frame version for $420, but it was a 1.0, and I didn't want the 1.0 or the laser for another $80.) I love it, and I won't carry any of my other guns anymore. It's so slim, light, and small. I looked at a few Kahrs, Sig 365, SA XDs, Ruger LCP/LC9, Taurus TCP, Colt Mustang, and Glock 43. I LOVE the Colt Mustang too. Not a game of the ergos of the G43. The grip is way too skinny, and it's almost "blade like." (It's so skinny that it's almost sharp.) The only thing I don't like about my Shield is that the slide _stop;_ which can't be used as a slide _release._

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are great guns indeed! That’s a bummer that your slide lock/release isn’t working properly. You may want Smith to take a look at it. It should function as both without issue. Thank you and cheers!

    • @nickg912
      @nickg912 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same issue with my shield 40, the slide stop is very stiff and doesn’t work well as a release without a great deal of pressure... I’m not sure if it was designed to not be used as a release or if it’s just because it’s such a small lever...

  • @kevcom82

    KS my EDC is a Shield 9 Performance Center. It’s my first choice for carry not only due to its size but it shoots really good. It’s the best shooting, easy to conceal, striker fire I own. And I got it for around $420. I have yet to shoot a 2.0. Would be interesting to see how the 2.0 trigger compares to the Performance Center trigger.

    I've carried my gen 1 shield for 7 years. Already worn out 2 nice leather holsters for it. Only times it failed is when girls who don't know how to shoot well have limp wristed it and it fte's. Great great great gun. I'll shoot it til it wears out, and buy another.

    Just bought a MP9 shield 2 weeks ago, 1st gun i ever owned, already shot 150 rounds or so, shoots great, what I love most about it is it's kind of a sleeper gun, looks small and boring but packs quite a punch more than you would expect from such a small gun.

    I love my 2.0, but the grip texture was like strapping bees to my love handles... I put talons on my gen 1 because the grips were not grippy enough and i bought talons for the 2.0 for the opposite reason. Still my favorite carry out of my rotation which includes G26 andf p320 Subcompact.

    Get the .40 S&W version, and then get a .357 Sig barrel for it (many vendors). Then you've got something the same size as compact J-frame .357 (Bodyguard, Centennial, etc), but you've got 8 rounds. Hell yeah that's worth carrying. Even better if you do a 4 inch slide swap

    I just, today, ordered a first gen Shield in 9mm, no safety. I chose this because I will go with Ameriglo Pro on the sights, Apex Tactical trigger and Talon grip. Do you recommend the flat trigger from Apex or the regular kit? Also, still not sure regarding the holster (Harry’s, Alien shape or Tulster). Thanks for your feedback and you have a great channel.

    Have the original and carried it for a few years, never an issue. Then I purchased a Walther PPS and carried it. After a while my conservative nature just did not feel comfortable carrying a gun appendix style without a safety. I've since gone back to the Shield for that very reason. Nice recap on the Shield as usual KS, I wouldn't expect anything less from you. M&P line has improved tremendously and the shield is still pleasantly heavy in my rotation. Though it's the 1st version I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading for texture, considering I have talon grips on mine with the Apex kit. I also carry the 45 version which is the introduction to the 2.0 but S&W has really stepped their game up, love the M&P2.0 line for sure. Reliability, shootability, concealabilty and everything ility...the Shield is. Cheers Brother, carry safely.

    KS I’m a big fan man. Been watching your vids for years. Huge opinion request! My EDC rotation concealed here in Texas is the p365 and the shield 2.0! Personally I like the M&P shield 2.0 more than any other gun for carry regardless of the 8 round capacity. Do you feel the shield is the best CCW as well? If you had to rAnk between your 3 gun rotation, how would you rank them? Also ...the p365 XL?!! What’s your view? Is this one a better shooter than the shield 2.0. I ask because it’s slightly larger than 365 reg . Thx!

    Looking for opinions here. I've never owned a firearm before and Im looking to get my first gun. It would be something I would use for everything. Mostly home defense and eventually CCW, but also take to the range too. I have been looking into the Glock 19 but for my limited budget right now it's a little much. Should I get the Shield 2.0 instead? Thoughts?

      Consider an M&P compact as well. A bit larger but still possible to conceal. Will probably serve you better for home defense and range shooting. The Glock 43x and 48 also look nice if you're gonna go for a Glock.

    Damn it, KS, you're the reason I became a trigger snob, LOL. Great review as always.
    I have the 1.0 Shield with the same Apex Duty Carry kit for my light carry, but with the newer flat trigger. What an improvement! So, I don't see any need for the 2.0. I also have the Compact 2.0 in both 3.6" and 4" for winter carry with the Flatty kit on my 4". That trigger is in a whole other category! But, I feel the 3.6" would be better suited with the Duty Carry kit. But, they don't have the flat trigger for it, yet (yours has a slight curve). So, just wondering if there is any noticeable difference? Yours seems to have a bit more pre-travel. Btw, Ameriglo I-dot pro is my favorite sight, but prefer the yellow front with the u-notch rear. Can't wait to see your review on that new one you're testing with more capacity (wink, wink).

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad I can feed your addiction Mean! I agree, the 1.0 with an Apex is awesome and does exactly what it needs to do. I’ m jealous about that 3.6. I’d love to try one at some point. The Apex on the Shield does have a little more curve to it indeed and the take up is a bit more (I think that’s just the Shield as is), but it definitely does the job. Hopefully the “new” one will be out tomorrow. It’s an impressive shooter! Thank you and cheers brother!

    I actually bought myself an M&P 2.0 Compact 9mm, and we bought a Shield 2.0 9mm for my wife. She ended up going with another gun, and let me tell you why her Shield ended up being mine. (Question coming!) While I love the feel of the 2.0 Compact (especially the aggressive texture of the grip), it did mess up the insides if a couple of my polo-style shirts. (While the Shield 2.0 has a grip that's somewhat more aggressive than other guns, it's not as aggressive as the 2.0 Compact.) So anyway, I just took over her Shield, since as you said, it just seems like a little sibling of the 2.0 Compact, and the excellent quality and feel seem quite similar.
    Question: you said that your M&P grips didn't cause any problems; does that include your M&P 2.0? I'm guessing that you mostly wear cotton (since you said you wear mainly tees), and not "wicking"-type polyester shirts? (I'm thinking that's my main problem with the "picking" on the shirts.) I look forward to any and all comments and experiences on the subject. Thanks!
