Got the case, plucked foam, sprayed, it's ok, but my next case I will flip the very bottom solid foam with the pluck n pull foam and use the solid foam to cut out and use ( no plastic spray needed).
I don’t store them in my case long term. I keep the firearms in a safe with anti moisture products. Our local Dollar Store sells the ones I buy. I live in a higher humidity area and it’s important! I also will shoot even in a little drizzle when the weather doesn’t cooperate (good excuse to clean guns). I also enjoy the process of inspecting the equipment as I load it into the case when headed out. Here is the description of the product I use: Damp Rid Disposable Moisture Absorber- 10.5 Oz
You would have been better served by just cutting clean through the first layer and then cutting the gutted portions in half to get the desired depth effect. Much cleaner than snipping with those scissors.
Great job. I plan to do something similar. How’s the weight loaded? I’ve got a bad back. So I have to be mindful of weight for luggage. I usually don’t load multiple Guns per bag. Can u put it on a scale for me loaded? PS. Harbor Freight ROCKS!!!
Never mind, saw the other vid talking about the weight. Looks great but too heavy for me. Wheels look useful. But only for commercial travel. Wouldn’t work at the range or hunting. Looks like it would work great for storage but not for transport. 👍‼️ THANKS
I agree with your conclusion. It’s kinda heavy loaded up. I purchased another smaller Harbor Freight pelican case for multiple pistols. I really like both cases and the options depending on the type of shooting for the day. I favor tactical multi-gun shooting with timing and scoring.
It takes lot more work to use pluck and pull then just plain foams. You have to press your gun down on Pluck&Pull (PP) to imprint the gun's size first - and I highly advise you to use knife to neatly cut the section out. It takes about 3 times longer to do a decent job on PP than just plain foam.
I watched a bunch of these videos and went on to try my self. What no one mentions is HOW HAZARDOUS THIS COMPOUND IS. Putting flammability aside. THIS STUFF STINKS AND ITS HARMFUL TO BREATHE. ENDURE YOU WORK IN A VENTILATED AREA OR HAVE MASKS WITH ORGANIC VAPOR FILTERS. Don’t know what that is? Me neither until I looked up the safety datasheets. This is not like a toy car not safe for 3 year olds don’t swallow. This is if you don’t know and not careful, it can inhibit breathing.
Ryan Daniels Hey Ryan! I’m not really an expert on this. I have friends who woke with spray paint and do wear mask protection. I didn’t put on any protection the first time and was kind of caught off guard by the smell.
Thank you for pointing this out. It’s valuable to share. I would recommend doing this outdoors and keeping your distance. Any surface spray can adhere to a surface it touches as it drifts to things nearby (cars, clothes, glasses, etc.). Sounds like a particle mask would be wise. The odor didn’t bother me but we are all different. Having used the case several times and even adding another spot for my most recent shooter, I don’t notice any strange odors lingering indoors. I also didn’t smell anything strong when I cut out the new holes... which I still need to spray in. When my firearm is in the new spot you can’t see the lighter color of the foam but knowing it’s there bothers me a little. Still, I am so glad I did this. I smile every time I open it. Being a little vain, I enjoy how it gets looks after opening it when we go shoot.
Would Flex Seal work similarly?

What precautions are you taking to avoid moisture from setting in on your weapons ?

If they are in an air conditioned environment that’s most of the battle there. When they’re not you need to be more conscious.
Man that looks just atrocious sorry bro

Add a can of Flex seal as a final layer.

I just layed my rifle in the case and took a black magic marker and traced around the rifle then plucked the foam

Olly E. Cine is it harmful after the fact? If I wore an industrial type mask and sprayed it I would be fine right?
