Ive been watching bee and hive build videos for about 4 years. I thought id seen everyones. One of yours that was 5 years old came across my feed. Ive spent the last hour watching yours. I am very impressed. I also build my own equipment, including frames. But I dont have the level of equipment that you do. I am impressed with how the screened bottom board works with the existing solid one. Have you considered doing a video of a stand alone screened bottom board? Im pretty sure you have! Subbed to your channel.
Thanks for the sub. I started my channel because I couldn't find straight forward how to videos. I spent a tremendous amount of time watching others videos to be mostly disappointed, so I decided to step forward and help where I could. I have not thought much about a stand alone SBB but would like to visit with you about it. You can find my email in my channel description. Look forward to hearing from you and Thanks Again.
great video. May I ask what screen size you uses? The hole size of the bug screens are about 1.6 *1.6 mm but varroa mite itself is 1.7 in width. So they can hold on to the screen even if the hole is 2 mm. I can't find a screen with holes of 2-3 mm.
Instead of using another board could you show us how to integrate the sticky board in the bottom board so that it slides in and out like the ones sold online ?
It will try to this fall. If you used this design, just 1 1/2" narrower as filler for the bottom board and cut 1/4" wide 3/8" deep grooves in the inside runners you could use the sticky board that I show and should work out. Might need some additional support. Hope this helps...
Thanks for sharing! Nice job.

I use #8 hardware cloth. That is 8 wires per inch or 2.36 mm screen.

Is it a stainless steel mesh?
You can use stainless but I just use regular hardware cloth...
