I feel totally dense. I was thinking of purchasing this for my train obsessed 5 year old but, as an adult, I’m already completely confused 2 minutes into this video 😩

Placing your last train on the board is one of the ways the game ends. If it seems too short perhaps he is ready for the standard version of the game - it’s a pretty easy step up!
To check if you want to start a route but only have 2 out of (example) 4 of the colors needed and no wild- can you start and hope the next draw you draw a color you can use to complete the route or do you need all 4 of the colors (or wild card colors) at that turn?
If I have a route that I used for one ticket and I need a section /route to complete another ticket, can I use that or do I need to find another route?
Great question! YES, routes that you have claimed can be used for multiple tickets. It's a great help when you draw a new ticket and already have a few of the routes claimed on the board, it means you have much less work to do!

What happens when you have 2 same routes lets says kansas Miami , chicago Miami and your and there is only one room to place 1 ticket, what happens to the other ticket, can i use the trains that are already or the same train for 2 different routes ?

You can use the trains that are already there to complete a ticket and they absolutely can be used for multiple tickets!
