Anne hitting the table is still one of my favorite Tabletop moments
+Calvin Cosmos Please tell me you waited until right at the end of the video, after the credits rolled. PLEASE tell me you did.
+Nathan Hawkes Thank you stranger. I nearly missed that!
You can see Wil disown Anne for 1/4 of a millisecond. LOL
Need more Anne. That closing scene with her wrecking the board was awesome.
I'm thinking that one hurt this time.
"This game is really different, it has stations"
*no one used a single station*
...
As someone who's played both versions a lot, the two games are incredibly different, even though the main mechanisms are the exact same. The stations make blocking a worse strategy and adds to the importance of claiming longer routes- to balance this, the Europe version only has 1 route of distance 6 and 1 route of distance 8 (both of which are tunnels), with all the remaining routes being 4 or less. The U.S. version had a LOT of routes of 5 and 6, usually meaning that whoever claimed them won (especially true if they received the Seattle-New York or Vancouver-Montreal routes). Thus the Europe version is more balanced in this way. The Europe version also makes better use of the wild cards through the ferry routes, and requires more set collection for the tunnels, making it a slower, more strategic game in that sense. Finally, everyone gets 4 routes to choose from instead of 3 at the start of the game, one of which is a guaranteed long route worth around 20 points (that they may or may not keep), while the remainder are short routes usually worth 10 or less. Again, this ensures no one is forced to pick two incredibly long, impossible to complete routes, or force to be stuck with 3 short routes that wont award anything at all once complete (like Denver-El Paso or New York-Atlanta).
It is, in essentially every respect, a much much better game. I love the original, but between the U.S. version and the Europe version I'd pick Europe any day.
StyxTBuferd Oh, and one extra thing: The original TtR had really small, Settlers of Catan sized cards. The Europe version has much nicer, fuller sized cards (though you can get normal cards for the original through the 1910 expansion).
First off, he never said "This game is really different," he said more along the lines of "This game has similar gameplay to Ticket to Ride, but has some upgraded game mechanics."
Secondly, you mentioned only ONE of the new elements in TTR Europe. For routes over water, you need to use at least 1 wildcard, and for routes through tunnels you may have to pay additional cards to complete them, both of these rules weren't in the original version of the game.
Victor Pluntky z
@@StyxTBuferd actually it has 2 of length 6.
Anne is like one of those dreamy elementary school teachers that you remember for the rest of your life because she was really nice and everybody had a crush on her.
Aww….*blush*
@@annewheaton1748 I always thought that's how you two met?! LOL
Well I thought that even if the rest of the video was terrible that short byplay of Anne and Wil on the loser's couch made the video worth it.
TICKET TO RIDE: EUROPE IS LEAVING THE STATION! ALL ABOARD...
This week's episode features John Kovalic, Emma Caulfield, and the return of ANNE WHEATON!
What games are you hoping to see on future episodes?
The moment I hit play, I was hoping he brought his wife back, and he did. Excellent!
Preface I love this show but two sequels in a row? Tsuro and Ticket to Ride are both great games and we know this from watching your show but this is the 3rd sequel this season. I want to see more variety in games! Next week better not be Space Munchkins.
Yay Anne!
Anne and Wil are freaking adorable. The final scene after the credits was hilarious.
Ben Gepfrey Darn. Guess you should tune in in 2 weeks, then!
Anne is so adorable. Especially after the end credits. And this was such a great episode. A very worthy follow-up to the first Ticket to Ride.
+Geoff B Lol I had to thumbs up the vid just for that, and I nearly missed it!
"Wrong Wheaton, cards!"
best ending ever....of all time
Hands down one of our favorite board games for beginners (right next to Settlers of Catan!). Everyone at our office (probably) adores Tabletop, we may have to have a battle of the channels sometime! Also, and I think it goes without saying, this show never gets old, and is always hilarious!
Ouch, no response
what happens when you run out of tickets with 12 trains left . do I have to waste a turn to draw a ticket or can I just play wherever?
@@kohl4life Since I happened to see this, and nobody seems to have answered, if you somehow haven't been informed in the last two years, you do not need to be working toward a ticket to put down a new route. If you have time to grab a ticket, it's typically worth it, but is by no means required.
That ending was pure AWESOME!
Perfect ending after the credits! GO ANNE. WRECK THAT BOARD.
The ending of this was preciously adorable. I think I now have cavities.
Kaitlyn Gael Yeah Anne is so cute xD.
I LOVE Buffy the Vampire Slayer. More Actors and Actresses from there !!
LOL! _Almost_ Anne-proofed the table! :D Adorable ending!
Great game!
We don't do any scoring until the end, so we don't have to worry about knocking the counters on the edge of the board. So we score longest route, everyone declares route cards, then each player scores segments (e.g. 1 x 6 long = 15pts, plus 4 x 4 long = 28pts, etc), removing trains from the board as they are counted.
Also it is often easier to count how long a player's longest route is by starting with the number of trains in their pool, and subtracting those they haven't played, and any on the board that don't count towards their longest.
Absolutely loved Emma Caulfield in this episode. I love how competitive she was.
haha..thanks.
Fun game with a bonus geography and history lesson. I stayed for the end and was gratified to see Anne Wheaton do what I hoped she would do.
I just bought the Ticket to Ride Europe app (within the last 24 hours) AND THIS HELPED ME OUT A MILLION TIMES MORE THAN THE ACTUAL HOW TO DEMONSTRATION!!!!
Also Anne and Wil are SO adorable.
I like how no one used a train station
+TimmyTechTV I dont think they counted them up at the end either because no one used them.
+alandrian well, there's no point in counting them up if no one use any of them. Unless seeing bigger, equal number gains for everyone is somehow increasing your epeen.
I always use all of my stations lol
Loved having Anne Wheaton back on the show again!
Thanks Wil. Bought this after watching your video. My family and I love it! Have a nice Holiday!
Really good chemistry and atmosphere on this one, definently one of the best episodes imo.
That kiss was the real winner's trophy.
This is one of my favorite episodes Wil! You guys should make this one of the extended versions!! I love the extended versions btw.
The ending was the best. Anne Rocks!! I love your hair Anne!! Its so shiny and the style is adorable!!
Anne rocks and it isn't selfish to have her on the show at Will. The whole point of your show is to get people, especially families playing tabletop together. Just make sure she keeps sitting on her hands LOL.
Thanks for keeping the show going and for yet again inspiring us to spend quality time with the people that matter to us.
Anne should absolutely be on every season, possibly even co-host. She's a fantastic personality.
she's cool.
I love this series just so much. I had a lot of friends that used to play boardgames with me but then I moved to go to college and that sort of fell apart. But we managed to keep in contact and found a lot of these odd games online through a module, and it was just great. It's great to see some of these games come into light through this series!
Hoping _real_ hard that we get an Extended Edition of this episode some day!
Loved the end :)
Out of all the G&S Vlogs this is the one I wait for. Honestly, I have to thank Wil Wheaton for reigniting my love for board games and face to face human interaction.
My family and I now have set aside one weekend day out of the week to play board or card games.
So as I stand here humble and contrite for disliking Wil solely for his role of Weasly Crusher (have liked you in everything else though) and sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. I now look foward to seeing Wil weekly on Tabletop.
A new episode! Thank you!
Ok, the chipmunk counting voice was hilarious. Must. Use. Always.
YES! I knew there should be something after the credits!
Ok... so I was one of the "Ticket to Ride!!! Again?!" crowd.
But I'm watching this episode for the 3rd time now, and I've still got a massive smile on my face. I am now of the opinion that it doesn't matter what game is being played... as long as you're having fun.
That end clip was brilliant. Gotta love Anne's destructive methods!
NOO, i now saw all episodes thats up right now. I´m looking forward to see the next ones comming up. It was a lot of fun so far, thx for this show.
Greetings from germany :)
Anne: "Why do I have all these cards that don't work?"
Wil: "Because the game thinks you're me :)"
Anne: "Wrong Wheaton!"
the ending after the credits BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAH, i love his wife
I really liked how everyone really played this time. I enjoyed the friendly relaxed vibe of the first one and this one still had that, but it also had that "man, they want to WIN" vibe too.
yay more Anne! such an amazing and fun gal!
another great episode to tuck under the Tabletop belt.
anyone agree that wil's wife's board mess up was one of the best ever moments in tabletop so far(feeling bad for whoever had to reset it aside)
Anne looks adorable even as she is wrecking the board. Thank you for bringing her back :D
Watching this made my day! I love this show almost as much as I love Emma. :)
And Anne & John were great guests, too!
Loved the end! Anne Wheaton, the legend continues. :D
WOOO NEW TABLETOP!
We have the exact same argument with my family on the color of the purple/lavender/pink card pretty much every time we play this game :D
Oh my! The after credit ending was beautiful! That smile was just priceless.
I loved when Anne 'Armageddoned' the map last season! :)
Oh Anne, you stay awesome and destroy however you like xD
I almost closed the video before Anne came in at the end there. Glad I didn't!
For all the people that read comments before finishing the video, this comment comes spoiler free, but watch through the credits! :D
I really enjoyed seeing John Kovalic on this. He was a really interesting and pleasant guest.
New Tabletop day gives me the same warm-fuzzy as new comic book day :) Thanks Wil!
Why does is seem like no one knows Emma Caulfield was Anya(ka) the ex vengeance demon from Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
I wish that show was still on Netflix
Omg thank you! I was wondering the whole video where do I know her from
Psh. Lavender. Those cards are totally pink.
I argue with my aunt also... she says pink, I say purple.
(lavender…) ahhahaha
Lilac!
Violet
the new black
My favorite show on TH-cam... I need more TableTop!
I love Table Top. I have been watching it since season one and have seen every episode. I credit it with bringing board games back to my family's free time. We have also bought several of the games that have been played on the show. Thank you Will Wheaton. By the way I loved you as Wesley Crusher.
AND WHO WINS GETS A ROLEX!!!
*flips board*
"What did you do?!"
*face palm*
Emma looked like the daughter when Anne and Wil had their moment on the couch
Anne Wheaton, you are so adorable!!! Wil you lucked out there bud!!! Play More Games!!
Loved the closing destruction and grin, Anne. :D
Anne should be on every episode.
Pink. Definitely!
That was so close, Wil, but very knightly played. =) Ticket to ride Europe si probably the most unnerving game I've ever encountered. I was really unsettled even while watching you guys. =)
Friend Wheaton: just wanted to stop by and say a MASSIVE thank you for bringing me into the board gaming fold and, in turn, allowing me the joy of sharing my love for the hobby with friends and family. Thanks to you and this show (along with several other TH-cam sites), I now have THREE consistent gaming groups that meet throughout the month... all filled with newly-Christened gamers. Graci, Will... keep up the good work!
As a side note, could I make a couple of gaming requests for next season? Perhaps "7 Wonders," "Mice and Mystics," "Dead of Winter", "Pathfinder: the Adventure Card Game", "Race for the Galaxy", and/or "SteamPark?" These are ALL wonderful games!
great episode Will but i'm begging you for an episode with the following guest: You, Anne, Felicia, and Nathan Fillion!!! it would be soooooo good!!! please?
I know that traditional pen & paper RPGs are often a little too time intensive for this show. That said, have y'all ever considered going old skool and breaking out the old red box version of D&D? It plays a lot faster than more modern RPGs & for those of us who got started way back in the day it'd be a lot of fun to watch.
seconded.
You want to do this, Wil.
actually, they did do an RPG. the designer came to GM. one of their best episodes. just like in RL its probably harder to pull off than a boardgame.
Dragon Age is comparable to 3rd/4th edition D&D as far as complexity is concerned. First edition D&D was rather a bit simpler.
The original "Ticket to Ride" has become our go-to game when I visit my folks a few times a month. It's just complex enough to appeal to us as adults, yet simple enough to always be fun without being frustrating. We've been looking into getting "Ticket to Ride: Europe" and maybe the "1910" and Asia maps expansions. I'm trying to work them up to trying "Munchkin" and "Betrayal at House on the Hill" at some point.
i have betrayal and it is great! however, no one wants to play it with me so yeah.
So much fun! I played this version after watching the original Ticket to Ride episode. Like Emma, I also had a very difficult time scanning my routes.
LOVE the after- credit bonus! (I had noticed that the table had been Anne-proofed between seasons) ;-)
This is my first time watching one of your games TableTop people and I must say, you guys are awesome! Unlike other TH-cam channels, you guys explain the rules really well and really show how the game is played and progressed, and the camera shots are spot-on! Good job and keep it up!
Also, as for my thoughts on the game, I thought Emma was gonna win since her beginning strat seemed similar to mine and I tend to win. The loss of a turn for her was unfortunate. And yeah, that end-game longest route really was a deal breaker!
yay Anne wheaton, well done john
Victory gesture should've included banging the table.
See the end of the video :P
Tall Dwarf I did, and I'm not satisfied
*crosses arms and turns up nose exaggeratedly
Loved that ending!
We need an episode with Wil, Anne and their kids playing their favourite tabletop game :)
I like to count places when advancing my pawn even if it's not a long way. So gratifying :)
Dear editor/sound designer: the diesel train horn is really jarring when it's supposed to be a steam whistle.
Enjoyed that :) Subscribed. Only came to see Ticket to Ride game-play before deciding on purchase.
I really enjoyed the train whistle every time someone played a route.
"I'm totally gonna join that guy's fan club" I'm pretty sure Wil Wheatons is alread the president of Wil Wheaton fan club.
Best Tabletop Final Scene EVER! I so wanted her to do this! is that bad?
Love the after-credits scene.
Love the ending with Anne!
Last 5 seconds win.
Ticket to ride: Island of Sodor version!
Shaden0040 I feel old for getting that reference.
Shut up and take my money! that's brilliant
Another great episode! I have Ticket To Ride Africa, and can't wait to play it!
Love all the Star Trek and Buffy alum in these vids! Keep them coming
Thanks for that Ann-ding.
Hahahaha Anne at the end there.
Wil, you have the best wife.
I did not see the result coming. That was awesome :)
Love the ending!
It's not purple, it's not lavender. It's pink.
I miss TableTop
LOL! You guys are too cool!
Thanks for the video, it really helped me understand the game much better.
Also, that was the coolest certificate I've ever seen! Thanks for keeping it cool!
Please send me one of those certificates with your official seal! lol!
Was cheering for you Wil the whole time to win!
OwlBear? W-where are you OwlBear? I missed you...I always keep my eyes out for you...
Someone... please, find my OwlBear...
But... we had a googly-eyed teddybear. OwlBear also needs a day off, you know.
You guys should do a "family feud" episode where Wil and his family go against Felcia and her brother. Wheaton vs. Day!!!
Loveeeee these videos
EMMA CAULFIELD ON TABLETOP!!! I'm so happy right now!
i find it awesome that the guy who always loses gives us tips on how to win,
In various episodes and extended versions, I have seen Wil speculate that, in addition to his often terrible luck with dice rolls and card draws, he may also lose more frequently because 1) the directors are giving him other things to think about at the same time as he's trying to manage his own strategy (like pacing, i.e. the amount of chit chat), and 2) he is often too helpful advising his competitors.
Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes,
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses!
And what's with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies,
Bunnies.
It must be bunnies!
Or maybe midgets.
Finally got the Anniversary edition. What a beauty: the trains, the cards artwork, the magnificent board... Fabulous game!
That was the best episode yet! I think this was partly because Wil wasn't filling every gap with talking/joking (because he was taking the game so seriously) which allowed everyone else to have their space and do their own talking/joking.
