We went in there assuming we can change their minds. We will never change their minds. The ANA put their weapons down and give the Taliban the initiative. We cannot help a nation who is unwilling to help themselves. I was never deployed to Afghanistan but I have to Iraq. There are some that are willing to fight along side the US and it is these people that need our support the most. We haven’t had an attack against the United States since we occupied Afghanistan. Now the taliban have US weapons, armored vehicles, and air assets… they will be more emboldened and harder to kill.

I understand the sentiment for sure, but that point kinda glosses over the fact that we have contributed heavily to this issue, and are therefore partially responsible for the outcome. I can't imagine what will happen to those who are stuck in the country under the Taliban rule. This should not be happening. The Afghan President needs to be found and held accountable for this takeover. The Afghan army just lays down arms as soon as US troops start to pull out. I think this was planned. This was so sloppily done. No one is saying we shouldn't have pulled out, but the Afghan Army wasn't properly trained in logistics, so that was the first thing to crumble when the US left. Afghan soldiers quickly ran out of food and water, and you know what they say "an army runs on its stomach". The people in change of training the Afghans focused too much on infantry skills, and not enough on arguably the most important force in any army, its logistics. Without logistics there is no combat operations.
And how might we have left Afghanistan? Should we have left a couple hundred soldiers to get slaughtered to the Taliban? No you have to get everyone out all at once. You can’t leave anyone behind. This was the only way.

It was clearly a mistake pulling out the troops before everyone could be evacuated because Biden had to send in more than double anyways. The ANA put their weapons down and give the Taliban the initiative. We cannot help a nation who is unwilling to help themselves. I was never deployed to Afghanistan but I have to Iraq. There are some that are willing to fight along side the US and it is these people that need our support the most. We haven’t had an attack against the United States since we occupied Afghanistan. Now the taliban have US weapons, armored vehicles, and air assets… they will be more emboldened and harder to kill.

This was so sloppily done. No one is saying we shouldn't have pulled out, but the Afghan Army wasn't properly trained in logistics, so that was the first thing to crumble when the US left. Afghan soldiers quickly ran out of food and water, and you know what they say "an army runs on its stomach". The people in change of training the Afghans focused too much on infantry skills, and not enough on arguably the most important force in any army, its logistics. Without logistics there is no combat operations.
The issue is not that we left Afghanistan, it’s how we left.

@@Arcaryon Small cost to keep 3,000 troops in Afghanistan where things were stabilized. America pisses away billions on defending rich Germany, Israel, Japan and Korea. If the Afghans were white they wouldn't have been abandoned.

In the pass 20 years our troops died for nothing, They would’ve been all still be alive if we never send them over sea in the first place and how the family thinks about this right now
