- Fugue in E minor
This is my 5th attempt at writing a good fugue. Consisting of two themes, this is probably the best fugue I've written so far. Sorry for the bad video quality, wanted to save time while rendering. This is played by Musescore, because I have a bad habit of making pieces way too hard for my current capabilities. I set the tone to 432 Hz so it would sound more "classical." The next piece I am going to post will be Waltz No. 1 (such creative name, i know). This is going to take about 3 weeks, maybe more, maybe less. I am still trying to learn the first couple of bars. If you are inpatient, don't worry, I am also a slow learner.
Also, Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II - เพลง
In the true spirit of Bach. Who knew his music is still alive and branching new buds and flowers through gifted and hardworking individuals
Thank you very much for your kind words!
Repent and trust in Jesus. We all deserve Hell for our sins, such as lying lusting coveting and more. We can't save ourselves, but Jesus can save us. He died on the cross to save us for our sins and rose from the grave defeating death and Hell. You must put your faith in him only. He is the only way to Heaven. Repent and trust in Jesus.

I love how you got the comically large “Fuga” on the title that you see on every baroque piece sheet music

Love the themes and hand-written score (looks like Bach to me). Great energy, well done!
Thanks! Even if it looks like Bach, it is sadly not as good ...
@@LepusCompositionsBach is our Master but You’re very clever!
Felt like I was transported back into the baroque era, please keep making more baroque music
From one composer to another, very impressive! Having written perhaps hundreds of fugues myself, I can attest to the difficulty of composing a well-rounded fugue, and I must say, you truly nailed it! You earned a new subscriber!

I truly think it's a very good fugue. Don't stop 🎶
Thank you for your encouragement!
Wow..JS BACH is alive!!
this is one of the few contemporary pieces that i constantly go back to, youtube recommends it to me all the time just because of how many times ive listened to it lol, amazing piece. i also think this has way more views than when i first listened to it, which i think was only about 2 months ago or so
I love it! It's about as authentic as you can get for a baroque/classical fugue. The ending is splendid! The real beauty behind your music is, it's so natural, God-given. Sometimes I take this as a test: if it sounds halfway decent as a MIDI recording, you know it is a good piece of music and is only waiting for a real performance to bring out the true reality of it. The recording in this video passed the test.
Thank you for the analysis! Yeah, I looked for a way to make the playing sonnd better, but found nothing.
@@LepusCompositions This is about as decent of a MIDI recording as I have ever heard. Very good idea you had to set the tone to 432 Hz. I wish I had at least one MIDI recording that sounded this good. I will be patiently waiting for your Waltz. (ツ)
This is a splendid piece of music and I can't wait to see your work mature even further.
Thank you!
I heard this and i falled in love, one of my favorite songs! I’m sorry you don't have the recognition you deserve, the world is rotten.
Chico, eres impresionante.
I appreciate very much of your compliment and your time to write this comment! I translated your comment, so there might be some misunderstanding. I just learn from Bach, his philosophy and his ways of composing. I also listen to a lot of his music so I can get the "Bach style" in my head.
But please don't be discouraged by your music. Like many people I also find many flaws in my music. I used to be terrible at composing, then I learned how to get better and I improved and I believe that you can too!
Wonderful!!
Fantastic. Your channel is pure gold!
Beautiful!
That is astonishing work of art! You are really inspiring me to compose my own fugues. And moreover you are making me braver to create classical music!
Good job !! I loved this piece
love that ending too!
Wonderful
Beautiful fugue
Wow! That was a delightful adventure! Thank you!
this is beautiful
That is wonderfull fugue. I wish you many good fugues
Bravo!!!
What a surprise at the end! I was worried you'd be too strict in your writing but that was a delightful fugue by anyone's standards. Bravo!
i love this fuge
Its a really tough work to write a fugue, well done, it sounds great.
Completely amazing. It is hard to find someone who can write a fugue of this integrity nowadays!
This is absolutely perfect, totally amazing. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thank you so much!
This is awesome ! Please upload another one of your fugues, it sounds so good
i cant, i have forgotten how to compose 🙁
Wow, this is so close to being something that Bach composed!~
_and then there's me struggle with composing music qwq_
Appreciate the compliments! Dont worry, composing comes with experience, everyone can get better!
Very good composition! I like it very much! Thanks for uploading!
Thank you!
Okay, this is epic.
Thank you dude!
This is a magnificent accomplishment. I want to write music like this at some point. I really enjoy your varying of the harmonies along with contrapuntal texture. Keep writing!
Wow that second chromatic subject is even more amazing! What a great exposition! Amazing!
Woah what an ending!
Very nice work.... In the beginning more so, but this is your work.
Love it! More of fugues!
Yeah, in the future, probably March or April :)
Wonderful! Love the handwritten score too - would love to write my own composition by hand, but not sure I have the time or the requisite neatness!
Sounds really nice :) Bravo!
That's very nice :) Thanks!
Beautiful fuga bro
I love it
Thank you!
I love it
Love this. Circle of Fifths too?
Thank you :) Circle of fifth for the WIN!!!
Wow this composition is great and sounds just like Bach. You must have an amazing teacher. Keep composing and good things will come to you.

BRAVISSIMO!!! Very nice fugue!!
THANK YOU!!! Thank you very much!!

È sublime....In pieno stile di Bach, che è il mio idolo. Sei ispirato direttamente dal grande Bach. Complimenti vivissimi....
absolutely delight full! Fugues are so much fun to listen to.
also. you might try writing a toccata. I've written several and I hope to post them on TH-cam.
Thank you very much!
That was great, nice composition! The big chord at the end at like 5:33 kind of broke me out of my slumber haha
thank you. yeah, my brain was tryin something new that day :)
My congratulations on writing such a large scale and complex fugue with excellent development, a wealth of invention and I know the concentration it takes to write a fugure of any length. Hats off! The 2nd theme even more difficult with the descending chromatic figure. Bravo. And then weaving the 1st theme back in and combining them. I'd give you two likes if they'd let me.
Thank you very much for the compliment, I really appreciat it! I ve thought of the first theme a long time ago, and the second one just came to me while I was taking a shower, so you never know when an idea strucks :D
@@LepusCompositions I have found that to be the case...I woke up one morning and a theme was running through my head and I heard it in canon and I went down and wrote it down and it ended up being the 4th theme of the finale of my string symphony. And it worked perfectly as a canon. The 2nd theme of the Adagio of the symphony came to me when I was stacking wood....at any rate your 2nd theme comes in a just the time when some contrast is needed. It is clear you have been studying fugal writing. I look forward to hearing more of your work.
*No one
My mind whenever seing a random fugue: B A C H!
The first theme is so beautiful btw. It reminds me of a K-pop song.
Impressive. I'd like to hear an accoustic performance of this!
Bravo! We need great music!!
Thank you!
First theme im the spirit of fuge from p&f in g minor from wtc II, awesome voice leading, beautiful harmony and very clear fuge form. I can hear some ideas from fuge from Toccata BWV 911 in c minor 6:00. But i love it. This fuge is much better than my composirions.
La toccata de Bach, d' une beauté céleste, c' est d' un génie supérieur... Bach reste unique.
It is a beautiful fugue; Felicidades
Thanks!
Magnificent baroque music
Thanks :D
I hope Bach hears your composition, for he is now where the music is born.
so underrated
great
Sounds very nice to me. Maybe You sholud tried record this on organ... idk how sound organ in Musescore, but this fugue have potencial. Well done!❤️
Wow great way of incorporating Bachs double violin concerto
Yeah :D
interesting! what concerto do you mean?
Super bravo😊👏
Thanks!!
Impressive
Thank you! Here is one of my later works. Its also a fugue and it is more polished than this one :D th-cam.com/video/J6_KC22iNgE/w-d-xo.html
Wonderful craft!

@@LepusCompositions You are extremely talented😁 I love your pieces especially the fugue's. Could you please make a fugue in d minor (allegro tempo) 4 me?
@@Cyrus.0744 what do you need it for?
@@LepusCompositions I am trying to make one myself, but I don't have enough inspiration.
@@Cyrus.0744 why cant you analyze some Bach? His fugues are like 50 times better than mine :)
It's a good song with a very attractive theme. liked it. Since the music score was handwritten, it looked like a really old song.🙂
Amazing fugue wow
Thank you!
@@LepusCompositions Your counterpoint and theme writing/development is awesome
@@Trooman20Thanks, learned all of that online :)
@@LepusCompositions Very impressive, how many years have you been studying for?
@@Trooman20 idk, i think about 3 years now
Is good. The second theme is weird and chromatic in a good way. Some constructive criticisms: (1) I heard some parallel fifths and parallel octaves here and there. For example, the first bar of the second "page," the top and bottom voice are both moving from B to E in parallel octaves, and 11 bars from the end, in the lower stave, the bottom two voices are also moving in parallel octaves and then parallel fifths int he same measure. There were some other instances also. It jumped out to my ear as breaking the sense of independence of voices. (2) It's supposed to be a four-voice fugue, but there aren't really any extended passages of four-voice counterpoint. It's usually three voices, and even when there are four voices, usually one of them is being pretty inactive. If you're going to write a four-voice fugue, then don't have one of the voices drop out or play a pedal point which undermines the effect. (3) Your episodes seem a bit predictable. I get that your setting up sequences, but try to vary it so it's not so obvious that you're moving up the scale or along the circle of fifths. Add some variation the patterns or throw in a spicy harmony or something to keep it from sounding too formulaic. But overall seems to me a good effort.
Thank you very much for the constructive criticisms, I will take all that into consideration when writing future fugues :) I wrote this in two days and used an extra day to revisit it before posting which might explain the parallels that I missed ... probably should've taken a longer time considering my skills at that time. For the voices, I just did not want to have the four voices constenty yelling at me and it would also be more time-consuming to learn if every messure all have four complicated voices, not to mention drowning out the subject when there is one. I think it would work better with slower fugues such as some of the contrapunctuses from the Art of Fugue, but this is faster and more showy, so it lessens on the contrapunctal side.
Anyways, thanks again, and now I have to do my math homework ... uhhh
@@LepusCompositions Sure, that makes some sense, but in that case-if it were me-I'd just let it be a fugue in three voices rather than 3.25 voices. Why insist on making it four voices if you don't like the four-voice texture? I think four is not generally too dense to make out the counterpoint on the piano, but it's totally an aesthetic decision.
Truly Grand and Noble music. How did you learn counterpoint? I truly suck at it.
very polyphonic!
Thank you for listening!!!
Your composing technique is surely on the level of great JSB! Unbelievable. Haven`t heard anything corresponding. Also your sense of Bach style amazing!
Thank you so much! I still still have a lot of things to improve but yeah...
Bach is that you? He has rose from the dead!
one of my goals on my bucket list: have other people mistaken my music as Bach's
Well I must be the first of many lol. you do have a style of your own still, but great composition!
I hear hints of Bach's Invention 13 in this, was that intended? Also, great job!
Thank you :) It wasnt intended, but it sounds so similar, it might as well be lol
Its so good!Im also in highschool studying counterpoint rn, its fascinating like how did you learn to write so good in this baroque style?
Thank you! I dont know, I guess when you put a bunch of voices together and listen to Bach for 2 hours straight, you get the "Bach" sense
This is a sample of the incredible amount of hidden talent in the world. I congratulate you WrenLepus, you are a great composer and I assure you that one day you will be as great as the geniuses of the past such as Bach, Mozart or Beethoven.
Thank so much for the compliment!
Very good work indeed.
Could be the first movement in one of Mozart's piano sonatas.
Very Nice, did you study music theory at university? I did, and your Piece is very much in par with our exam pieces! Weil done. Of course there are minor inconsistencies with style but I’ve yet to see someone do a 100% Bach/late baroque.
How would you give advice to someone wanting to compose but not knowing where to start? And the best material to learn from. great piece btw
Hello! Its good to see someone wanting to start composing! Composing takes a long time to get good, and even now, I am not even sure whether I can be classified as "good" or not. For me, I think a good way to start is to write in the Baroque style a little. You try to understand the different harmonies, how to modulate, how voices work, and voice leading. Remember, that when you are composing, the intuition to know what to do is important, and that only comes with practice and learning from previous Greats! So yeah, I hope that was helpful :D
When u said i iv VII III VI iio V i I really felt that😩
Real
Lovely harmonic twists at the end. Wonder fugue! Was the first subject inspired by the famous fugue in RV 565 by Vivaldi (one of the concerti Bach transcribed)?
This is a breathtaking piece. With all these horrible mainstream pop music making so much money and popularity, it is extremely sad to see beautiful, technical modern pieces like this being completely unrecognized. This fugue absolutely destroys my fugues!
Absolutely! classical music > pop
@@LepusCompositionsIt's a matter of taste in the end.
yeah

Aha! Another modern Baroque composer on TH-cam whom I can add to my list. Very pretty!
Also: are you a fellow furry, by any chance?
I am no longer a baroque composer, now I try to compose romantic stuff, but I am glad to be on your musical list anyway :D
no, im a green furry, yellow furry is too overrated anyway 🙃
This is a skillful piece of writing,... however it feels a bit like a frantic climb up the down escalator, or maybe trying to descend the up escalator,... there is a lack of coherent voice leading that makes the musical journey feel purposeful. Rather incredible that You did this in two days,.. but perhaps You could have done more with a few satisfactory voices, and some resoundingly nice interplay of between them. The ending is a lot of fun,... keep working at Your fugue writing, You have loads of native talent!
Sometimes less is more. Bach would let the fugue breathe by letting voices fall off more often than others do.
True.
Me gusta..
The second theme sounds so weird as it were an inversion. Makes me think of a larger scale work, a new Art of Fugue maybe! Try out if it can be somehow inverted and use it again, so you have 2 pieces which form a bundle!
Bach? Alive? I love this circle of fifths
Bach lives in our heart!
Reminded me of "If you don't have an aunt" song.
yeah i guess... are you by any chance Russian? just curious :D
@@LepusCompositions Yes.
I love it! I play cello myself. Would you like to write a piece for cello I could play?
Thank you! I am currwntly writing a piano trio which has cello in it, dont know if that counts
But this is not played on a real piano? We need it
