I have the 440. Had it close to 4 years now and a brilliant machine. I tested it on a 0.2 gram gold nugget and it will pick it up at about 120mm deep. Not that deep but will do it depending on soil type
I have found quite a bit of jewelry with mine. A gold ring about 5 or 6 inches deep, and a lot of Penny's 😃
I have 540 and xterra pro and to be honest vanquish is much simpler and my favourite. Neat digging there mate. Well done 👏
Yea I am happy with the vanquish. I mostly run in jewelry mode and have found alot of stuff with it. Thanks for the comment
Nice job, I have two days so far at this with the 540, finding 2.01. I was ignoring the low numbers, I feel like an idiot. I am hopeful I can make up for it tomorrow.
I found 3 gold pieces so far that rang up in the 8 to 9 range. Two gold rings, and a gold pendant. The vanquish is a good machine.Good luck hunting and thanks for the comment.
Now you can buy a longer shovel.
yes now I can lol.
Great vid Mate. I am looking to buy my first metal detector that I want to use for weekend and holiday gold prospecting and treasure hunting. I have the opportunity to buy an X-Terra 705 for $169 or a Vanquish 440 for $349 here locally in Rockhampton Queensland. What are your thoughts on that for a first detector?
Regards, Jas.
Both good machines but I myself would go with the newer technology. I like the simultaneous multi frequency of the vanquish but I suggest you do research on both models. And decide what features you like.

Many thanks for the reply and your opinion. I think that I will go for the Vanquish 440 for my for detector now. It seemed to go well in your vid.

Many thanks for the reply. It looks like I am going to wait a bit longer until I can afford an Equinox 800, of which a few people in TH-cam have suggested that I won't be disappointed with for gold prospecting and treasure hunting.
Regards, Jas.
Oh yea the equinox is a lot better for sure it's a professional machine not really classified as beginner machine but you won't be disappointed. I also am considering one of the equinox machines in the future.
I have the same detector, are you in park mode? I got mine for Christmas and still getting use to what's best settings for what.
I mostly run mine in jewelry mode most of the time. If I'm in really trashy area I will switch to coin mode for better seperation.
This is a great beach detector as well, I also use jewelry mode but I thought the low numbers were a no go. I’m going out again tomorrow morning at 3-8AM, man I can’t wait!
Those little detectors look cheap, but they will find those gold rings for you if you have the patience to dig the Pulltabs and other junk.
Yea I was very surprised with it. It is very sensitive to small metal pieces.
