In 1983 my cousin bought the EP based on the album cover. He brought the record to my house, tore the rapper off and put the record on the turntable. We were totally blown away! Instant game changer!
Todd is a great vocalist, He able to getting high note, but Geoff Tate is a legendary singer and very charismatic performer, I think comparing the two of them and expecting Todd to be able to completely replace Tate in the hearts of QR fans is heard cruel. I just hope that if this band is still able to survive for the next 5 to 7 years or when they change the vocalist again, hopefully they find a frontman as good as Geoff Tate again, Todd not fail but I think Tate is too complete to be replaced ✌🏼
I don't care what anyone thinks..... You can NEVER replace Geoff Tate for Queensryche. THey Should have just changed their names to "Not Geoff's Queensryche".
I like how you did your video, by comparing live footage of Geoff next to Todd and Josh. It was clearly evident that they couldnt really match Geoff. BUT, I'm glad you made allowances for perhaps an off day for Todd and Josh. They're both competant singers, but most QR songs are not the easiest to sing well. Geoff is an EXCEPTIONAL singer! I havent heard anyone I like better. Ever. As for your question about Todd replacing Geoff, and was that successful? Well, as a hardcore original lineup QR fan, I have to admit that I can't listen to Todd singing any songs that Geoff sang. I just can't. They belong to Geoff. I dont think I'd be opposed to hearing Todd sing their NEW songs, I just havent gotten to a point where I want to yet, even after all this time. I saw QR live, and met the guys many times. Each time blew me away! It was so cool that you got to be in on an interview with Geoff! As for how new QR's success is going, I think casual fans of QR might not care too much that the singer has changed. And it's probable that new fans just coming on board might not care at all. So, in that regard, I think they have a decent following and success. I still listen to original QR everyday, because the more I hear their songs the more I love them! They are timeless, and never get old. At least for me. All five of the original members together were pure magic! The song writing, musicianship, arranging, and of course, VOCALS were diverse and spectacular! Thanks for both of your thoughtful observations and conments. Good content!
I'm glad you liked it. Geoff was an idol growing up, so when Jamey set that interview up, I was all in. His new band isn't bad. We reacted to them a while back. I was impressed. You should check it out. th-cam.com/video/OF8gljW6a2I/w-d-xo.html
Tate is better vocal technique comtrol . Much fluid and spin passage (giro di voce sul passaggio, per gli acuti). La Torre is good singer but not itself technique. Queensryche is "not" same band , since De Garmo is left.. the creative mind of Ryche.
Geoff actually ruined me for most other singers. The control and power of his voice is off the chart, and his phrasing, intensity, expression, tone, vibrato, belting, and clean notes are just unspeakably good!

my older brother bought it on cassette ... I was 10 and have been a fan since

That's my feelings on them. Their mimic doesn't replace the losses of the core. Tate, DeGarmo, and Rockenfeld.
Haha! NGQ. It's sad but funny.

No disrespect to Todd (he's a great singer) but he can't match Geoff's tone.
Yeah, Geoff's tone is amazing! Especially in his lower register
@@gizzy2403 his upper range vibrato was incredible as well.
