  • Today we cross off a home-made slitting saw arbor off of my very long list of tools I've always wanted to make.
So recently picked up an import cobalt 80mm slitting saw. It has a 22mm internal bore which is pretty uncommon, but allows me lots of room to make quite a beefy low-profile slitting saw arbor. By recessing the head of an M8 caphead screw into the stub-arbour a lot of space can be saved.

Sanches Blanes... One of the best bench lathes in the world. Proudly made in Brazil

Looks good. I just made one that looks very much like yours. It's a lot more work than it appears in a short video. Tolerances and finish requirements make it a precision job.

Is there an adjustable runout design option?

A little bit of runout in the saw is on purpose.

Just so you know...Nobody ever gets a slitting saw to run true. Ever.
