    Baseball podcast great. Thanks Trevor. Please write a book and get on a membership schedule. I’m asking you to take my money bro 😆

    A term for these owners that you're looking for is the Dunning-Kruger effect, someone is successful in one area so they figure they're an expert in all areas, even ones where they have little or no knowledge is one of the ways it presents

    Owners: "We're so wealthy but I'm still pretty upset that I dont' have ALL the money. Is there anything to be done?"
    John Fischer: "Have you tried extortion?"
    The Pohlads: "Better than extortion! Just rip money outta your franchise! The fans are stupid, they'll believe your excuses!"

    Well said. It would be fun to see fan bases vote every four years to keep the current owner or force them to sell.

      I see your point, but unless the fans can come up with a premium to the fair market value of the team they can't force someone to sell what they own. It is like forcing someone to sell a stock if some arbitrary level is met.

    Reinsdorf had the Sox since the 80s, before he even took ownership of the Bulls.

    So John Fisher owns the Athletics, The San Jose Earthquake MLS Soccer Team and apparently a Professional Bull Riders team called the Texas Rattlers. He apparently even attends Earthquakes games in the stands. He's living in his deceased father's shadow and for him everything is about the finances. His one brother runs The Gap (since essentially 1990) and his other brother is a Hedge Fund Manager. All 3 brothers received their BA from Princeton and their MA from Stanford.

    Sell a used car for a few bucks after you buy a garage. Or give that car a new paint job paid for by someone else and put it in a reserved spot and hope to make a little more.

    2:55 No, the White Sox are NOT the worst team in modern mlb history. The '62 Mets are still worse. 40-120-1 < 41-121

    You're much too kind to Arte Moreno. And he sure wasn't kind to the little people who made the stadium work under Disney and Autry. A lot of those people had 2nd jobs there and were basically Angel fans who loved being around the game. They weren't doing it for the money. But Arte could put more money in his own pocket by firing them and hiring cheaper. Some were the customer service people who were on a first name basis with the season ticket holders. Arte is greedy, and if you lived near Anaheim you heard a lot of these stories from your friends and neighbors.

    Mariners need to get it together and I feel they are being destroyed by terrible owners just like Athletics

      Atleast the mariners consistent get good players for a couple years by developing through the farm before they leave via trade for money reasons or free agency for money reasons

    I understand what he is saying and the Oakland owner may not have a great bedside manner or great timing: but like the other comment noted it is their money and they own the team. There is no stipulation an owner must be a fan above money, they are businessmen.
    We think of team owners of the past as better, but some underpaid players (one reason there is free agency today) and some even made players wash their own uniforms. We just didn't have as good news coverage or the internet then.

      But wouldn't you say that Professional Sports Team owners are essentially owners of a Entertainment Company? You don't just make an investment buying a team, you invest in your community. John just maxes out his political donations because he loves government kickbacks. He's the type that may be valued at 3 Billion dollars but all the paintings in his house are fakes or prints.

    As much as we all want these owners to do better we have to remember it's their team their money and they can do what they want.

      Because penny pinching has always made a better product. Then when baseball is down to just 2 teams that compete we can just throw up our hands and be like "no idea how this happened"

    Dude the NFL can be competed with by the XFL? MLB has bigger competition from MiLB.....

    • @sunny1992s
      @sunny1992s 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      MiLB isn't direct competition since a team like the Frisco Roughriders benefits the Texas Rangers in terms of talent and revenue(if lucky).

    • @voidhelix99
      @voidhelix99 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's not how competition works. Both the minors and majors play the same season. And same game. If you're at a minor league game, ur not at a major league game. Ergo conpetition. @sunny1992s
