I worked as a crew member on the set of the movie BLOOD HARVEST. Tiny Tim was the biggest name involved in the production but he treated everyone as they were his friends. Never once did he act like he was above everyone. When I first met him, I was star struck but he made me feel like I was just as big a star as he. May he R.I.P
I met Tiny in 1966 what he was playing the club called Steve Paul Scene in Manhattan doing two shows every night whenever there was live music opening for whoever the act was. It's hard to remember but I think he was playing there for seems like a couple of years might not have been that long but I sure remember spending a lot of time with him. We became friends and he was one of the sweetest people, man or woman I ever knew. You sure hit the nail on the head how you described him hey what's that 30 years after I met him and he hadn't changed one bit since I knew him even with all the fame he had which I would expect from Tiny. I just finished watching a couple of his videos and every time I watch him and hear him sing he always puts a smile on my face. RIP my friend.
at this point I image he only had diabetes. I have it too. when it's untreated you feel almost surreal about 50% of the time and are extremely fatigued all the time. that he developed heart disease so fast and severe tells me he was untreated for probably years. I hate that we lost such a beautiful person so young.
He honestly should have written a book. Greatest shame ever that he never immortalized his life or knowledge in some sort of medium like that, apart from his surreal music career.

Tiny tim never sang an organal pice as far as I know. But what a treasure he was. Just by signing old song because people forgot them and for the love of those songs to bring them to a new generation.
I met Tiny Tim several times n the mid 90’s, the last time was just months before he died. He was such a fun and gregarious man to be around. His vast musical knowledge was second to none. I’m so glad I got to see him live and interact with this once in a lifetime gem of Americana!! 🌷🎤

It was obvious that Tiny's health was failing. Yet he demonstrated something quite admirable here--that he respected and encouraged people; he didn't let success go to his head. From what I've read in other videos' comments and in here, apparently he was a genuinely nice person. Rest in peace and God Bless Tiny Tim.
Look at the genuine joy on his face while listening to these children perform. The man spent his whole life becoming a walking encyclopedia of Tin Pan Alley and Vaudeville style music. He put his put own little twist on those tunes, created an eccentric public persona to catch attention, and the world was once again introduced to these forgotten tunes because of his work. His fifteen-minutes of fame ended nearly twenty five years before this video was made, yet through his efforts, there's a new generation singing these songs some seventy years after they were popular. I guess you could say it's almost like watching a proud father. At least that's my take on it. I know the story of his very last performance was very sad. I figured the least I could to was play "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" for my first dance at my wedding to let him know, wherever he is, that some of us haven't forgotten him.

I believe this video is taken at Ruby Van Meter Elementary in Des Moines. There is a banner that says Ruby Van Meter Vikings just behind Tiny Tim's head when he is sitting. Also RVM is a special needs school, which would explain the large around for children in wheel chairs. Also toward the end the camera operator says "Say Hi to the people in Ames" and his response "I had a wonderful WHEN I was there" makes it sound like he is not in Ames but that the camera operator is from Ames. I saw this on Reddit and it was labeled that it took place in Ames but it did not.

Wonderful Tiny Tim - glad I found this gem. As mentioned I wonder if any of those kids remember this school show & be fortunate to have Tiny as guest (most likely very few) & performer. But let’s face it they were very young & unless previously told about Tiny Tim as a musician/entertainer you can’t blame them. Anyhow the kids/teachers seemed to enjoy it, a great Elvis performance of Heartbreak Hotel(was that a first?) and Tiny being humble as always. Yes the filming probably a student? What an amazing person who never gave up no matter what. Seems like a genuine person, and humble man.❤❤ Would have liked to see what he would have been like today he could have showed us a thing or two for sure. I do remember him a little ❤❤
In 1969 in England, I took him a song I thought would suite him in George Formby Style. He insisted that I bring in everything I had written up tpo that time, all on reel to reel tape..He was planning to marry Miss Vickie on the Johnny Carson show later that year,He took a ballad I had written, which I felt would be a Sinatra type ballad THE MISSING THINGS,He liked it as it had a few lines that, coming from him were surreal.WITH YOU TIGHT BY MY SIDE I'M SUPERMAN.FEEL LIKE I'M WALKINN ON AIR LIKE PETER PAN.etc Not only did he sing it on Carson the week before the wedding,Dec 12th 1969,but he actually rang me in UK ttwice to thank me on that same night. I found him perfectly normal. He spoke normally, had a four octave voice, played uke tight handed quite well, but on stage played left handed. All his weirdness was his gimmick, after having struggled for years to harness his amazing knowledge of early 20s music in order to make a living. He was much more talented musically than non musicians might think, but hid behind his money making formula.Sad !If anyone saw him sing my song or recorded it do let me know.
He had Aspergers which accounts for his brilliance, amazing memory. Manner of speaking. Amazing talent but autism outbursts where he lost control and became violent at times. Was horrified when he realized what he had done. Such a non violent lovable person normally. Don't think he had them in later life or learned to control them. Love you Tiny.....

I rescued this man once he was stuck in a shitter in derbyshire. Even covered in dung this man was a true light. Suspended by chains.
Not professional but better than not having this lost show at all. Thank you.
The Toronto Maple Leaf tie that Tiny is wearing was a gift from me.....and it now resides in my personal collection.
He was a fan of the Maple Leafs, and the Dodgers, right?
hey all you kids who have responded to my tt video. yes, tiny WAS a gracious, kind, Christian man. I am priviledged to have worked with him.
n leigh switzer
You're blessed to have known him :)
why does it matter that he is christian?
What the hell does religion have to do with it?
Perhaps it doesn't matter, but Christianity was a very important aspect of Tiny's life. Just listen to some of his Howard Stern interviews.
@@AGPArchivist forget this whether religion or non religion, put that aside The man was a genius.I could listen and see him for hours and i regret I was not around him as a friend. I feel at loss that i never knew him nor he knew me...
Esos niños no sabian la leyenda que tenia que a pocos años del video falleceria... pero que lindo ver el video y que le hicieran tan linda actividad
That was awesome! Thanks for sharing this video.
Those kids are so lucky to have tim un their presence
What an amazing person who never gave up no matter what. Seems like a genuine person, and humble man.❤❤ Would have liked to see what he would have been like today he could have showed us a thing or two for sure. I do remember him a little ❤❤
The ending says alot, oh the stories he could have told, I would luv to hear them♥️♥️
TINY TIM O PROFESSOR O MENSAGEIRO❤VERDADEIRO!...
Geoff Menzer geoff, your waaay cool
He had Aspergers which accounts for his brilliance, amazing memory. Manner of speaking. Amazing talent but autism outbursts where he lost control and became violent at times. Was horrified when he realized what he had done. Such a non violent lovable person normally. Don't think he had them in later life or learned to control them. Love you Tiny.....
There'll never be another Tiny Tim.
R.I.P. Tiny Tim
Its presence is more than splendid...
Attractive, that persuasive look ... nothing more to say.
Herb was brilliant. Very few people had his encyclopedic knowledge of the music of the early 20th century.
He clearly had an exceptional memory. I think his performances are from a place within unaffected by ego.
Charming performance, but you'd think there was more than one mic in the entire school (for tiny's uke)
Public school budgets, there may not have been lmao
I have always loved Tiny Tim I still have his very first album
Tiny was a great guy, I miss him. I still get a kick out of the Golf cart incident at the Philadelphia airport.
Passing of an era, when clean was fun. He was a genius in his own right. Sorry that some people took advantage of his talent and earnings, but he wasn't bitter. He worked till the end of his life.
Tiny was the best! Thanks for posting!!
Grata por este vídeo. Da pra ver que ele ficou emocionado .
