- The late great Herbert Khaury (a.k.a. Tiny Tim) performed on this special along with Barnes & Barnes and Weird Al in 1991. I do not claim ownership of this video, and all rights belong to Barry Hansen, Comedy Central, and Ernie Clark. Yes when I worked with Tiny Tim on the Mike Panera tour I did several shows the last date I played drums for Mike Panera I got to play with Tiny Tim I played with Tiny Tim he said it was the only time he had a drummer play with him solo he was quite an encyclopedia

You're right, not creepy. Tiny was a gift, an extraordinary musician, a scholar, and a historian. Many of his songs were forgotten tunes from the Great American Songbook, and all that music history would've been lost and forgotten without him. Tiny was amazing.
What was so creepy was he died doing what he loved to do...... what an amazing singer was he.
Why the hell isn't there a movie/biopic on Tiny Tim? Hollywood, I'm waiting....

I’ve heard people describe him as a freak in the past but he was a tremendous talent. He helped keep vaudeville and Americana alive for decades. I was always impressed by his vocal range.
Very true back in the 60s when he was much younger he would get made fun of his talent idk if you’ve seen the Johnny Carson show when tiny appears in it and they don’t take him seriously
I always thought he was such a gentle soul. He was also very spiritual. He was the son of an Orthodox Christian priest and he was very serious about being a Christian. Unfortunately, he didn't have too much luck in the marriage department.

I saw him in concert here in Sydney, Australia, and was later introduced to him by the promoter. He was an extraordinary, underrated talent who had a compassionate and kind heart.

Wish I could have met him he seems so true to himself and kind. Different yes but it's better to be different than all the same. I once was on a red eye flight on leave from the Navy because my dad in Atlantic City had a stroke. Mr. Tim sat across from me and I started talking to him. I'd always been a fan of music from the 20s through the 40s. He lit up when I mentioned that (I'd no idea I was speaking to one of the world's greatest pop music curators). We talked about vintage music the entire time. He was extremely articulate and very charming. I didn't mention why I was on that flight, but I was very grateful for his company; it really buoyed up my mood. Curiously, many years later, I found out he lived only four blocks from my house in Minneapolis. I always regreted not visiting him as he had a phenomenal memory and I'm sure he would have remembered me.

Met him in the late 70s in a Long Island club, The White House. We were the only ones who showed up the first night. He apologized to us but he wasn't going to play. I shook his hand and he thanked us for coming. We got in the next night without paying and he was amazing.
I demand a movie about this wonderful man.

I was there, dead center and about 6 or 8 rows back. This was a repeat of his performance. I stood up as he hit the stage the first time, and they made him come out a second time. My friend who's in the show told me it was because my stupid head blocked the one camera view they had of his entrance, being the ONLY person to give him a standing ovation. I felt like an ass, especially cuz the first time around was SO MUCH better! But on the upside, i got to see Tiny play two shows in one night.

SO so true. He was so far ahead of his contemporaries that they didnt know or appreciate it. Among other things, he was a musical historian with a photographic memory. Get him relaxed and watch him go. I was proud to have met him, twice. The first time we were introduced, it was just a handshake (his was very firm), and the second time, some years later, he remembered my name. Dude was outstanding!
A real Renaissance man! That is pretty special you had a chance to meet him...twice!

That's to the guy who noticed the strum up and left hand. Crazy mad. Tim was amazing. Just pleased I'm able to know who he was, hear his music and for a little while when watching these things feel some of that joy he gave to everyone.

When he started playing "Tip-toe" at the end, it brought tears to my eyes for the first time.
He was finally rewarded with much recognition from people. Nice thing.
In the last year, I have, through film and audio tape, become a fan of Tiny Tim. Great man, a great singer, and a genuinely kind man.

What a fantastic man, even in the 1960's when he first started falsetto singing, he had such a deep voice and it only got deeper as he got older. Through the 1990's when he was in his final years he was still able to hit those falsetto voice, cracked and a little screechy, yes, but still absolutely amazing. Rest in Peace Tiny, god bless him.
No one seems to notice Tim plays the right handed ukelele with his left hand. He did not change the string placement to accommodate left hand play. He was a music history genius, played several instruments very well. He was also very kind in heart.

Dr. Dememto was Weird Al's mentor. He must have had a soft spot for long curly haired music geniuses. :) I absolutely loved Tiny Tim and am a big fan of Weird Al as well. Thank you so much for your kindness to this sweet soul known as Tiny Tim, Dr. Demento.
Dr. D didn't meet Weird Al before he ended up in the public ear. Al sent a tape to the show, and it was good, so The Doctor added it to the playlist. He saw the brilliance and the audience concurred. Not really a mentor, but definitely one of the greatest things that ever happened to him, and Mr. Tim, too. AND all of the other great musicians who would have remained in relative obscurity, but for their exposure on the Dr. D show.
And he's a damn swell human too. You should see his record collection!!

A misunderstood genius and a walking encyclopedia of music. He was an innocent who could laugh at himself and take on the scorn and cruel babble of the world while pursuing his calling. A rare person and huge talent. With the right management he could have become a millionaire and who knows what he might have come up with? Instead he died penniless. But the joke was on us! R.I.P. Mr Tiny Tim.

There’s something so endearing about him. A beauty in what others would call madness. It calls from under his songs and says “follow us and have fun”. His whole persona screams of kindness and a rebellious nature that didn’t or couldn’t care what was the ‘norm’. His whole heart was in every lyric, every note he played and you can hear his love for a music that time has forgotten. Well you crazy, beautiful long haired man I’m in that moment with you and I LOVE IT. ❤️❤️ Rest well sweet Tiny Tim❤️

The way the audience responded when Tiny started singing “Tiptoe” was like magic-he’d cast his musical spell on them. I can see why people say, “God bless;” he gave his heart and soul through his performances. Rest In Peace, Tiny Tim.

Yes Tiny Tim was always looking for a million seller and I wonder how we'd feel to see that hundreds and hundreds of his videos are up here with thousands and tens of thousands of people listening, and his songs are used in different Contemporary TV shows that the young people enjoy with a million hits and a million views. I'd say I wonder how he would feel but I know he would be thrilled that he was proved right, that popular music is popular at any era on true talent and True Heart are always rewarded even though it's decades after his passing.
The band had a hard time following the first song but quickly made up for it. You have to appreciate a non rehearsal performance like this
It´s sad to see all the videos about him which are titled "creepy", etc. TikTok and Insidious gave him that role. BUT HE´S NOT!!! Tiny was an unique entertainer and musician who passed away too early. I was born in 2006 so I never had the chance to meet him, but I listen to him daily for a couple of hours. My generation only know Tiny Tim for Living In The Sunlight from Spongebob or Tip Toe Thru the Tulips from Insidious/TikTok/TH-cam/etc. He is and was so much more than his best-known songs. He had much good songs like: The Other Side, Fill Your Heart, Strawberry Tea, Have You Seen My Little Sue, As Time Goes By, Save Your Sorrows, Tip Toe To The Gaspumps, Let Me Call You Sweet Heart, Perhaps in the Next life, I´ve Never seen a straight banana, etc. Tiny deserves the title for being one of the most influencial musicians of the 20th century. Don't feel too bad about those videos titled "creepy" - you're correct in thinking that Tik Tok and horror movies like Insidious made that a popular thing to do. Many video games do the same thing - take an old tune from the 30s, accentuate the old scratchy recording sound coming through an old Gramophone, and suddenly you have the crem dela crem of "creepy" atmosphere. Anyone who cared to dig deeper would find that Tiny Tim was genuinely gracious, the real deal - an American treasure.
In all reality, creepy is this new generation. They're the one's who create and enjoy all these over the top disgustingly violent and depressing movies and video games.

I remember his first appearance on Carson, and the wedding of the century to Miss Vicki - it was quite the event! The talented man died doing what he loved, performing on stage.
I never knew Tiny Tim had such wonderful voice range and talent. This was great!
Lance Boil Still you can hear his voice breaking in the falsetto parts. His vocal cords were getting old. For falsetto you need really supple tissue and people can lose their falsetto over a period of weeks, sometimes days. Later on, he would only sing the lower registers.

Tiny Tim was a very special kind of person. He had a passion for so many things and it really showed in not only his performances but also when he spoke of all these things and people that inspired him. I just wish he took better care of himself. He might still be kicking around today.

I played at this show back in the day. (Barnes & Barnes). Met Tiny and got pix with him. He was quiet, which was fine. Would have loved to hang out with him more or have worked with him! What a talent and national treasure!!

I wish I knew Tiny Tim. I never met him. I had a friend ken who was a world traveled entertainer with some of the most famous folks in show business as friends (he toured with many of them or opened for them. He was a long time friend (many years) and also was a tour mate of Tiny Tim when they were on the Roy Radin Show (the last touring vaudville show in the US). I read personal letters from Tiny and saw pics of my friend and tiny and many other famous folks. I was told many things and I personally feel what ever orientation Tiny had was his business between him and God. Tiny was a devout christian. I dont know why folks cant let the guy lay in peace and be in peace with his maker. I learned that Tiny was one of the most genuine,honest,extremely polite and personable folks in show business.

Tiny Tim was such a wonderful person.
Tiny is awsome, one of the most underrated singers of his era. Recommend the Justin Martell's 2016 biography, The Eternal troubador, to any fan, it is a spellbinding and meticulously researched work written with a underlying appreciation of this great artist. It provides a fascinating insight into his mind and outlook on life over the years, and I couldn't put this book down until I finished reading it. Long live Tiny!

THANKS for sharing this! I LOVE Tiny Tim, I discovered this amazing artist five months ago and now I listen to Tiny ALL the time! I am also now a collector of his records and photos and have recently bought a record signed by him. I also LOVE the movie Streeet of Dreams by the great artist Martin Sharp. I think Tiny is the greatest gay-icon ever, bringing knowledge of the days of vaudeville into the world as well as a unique style. I think Tiny Tim is the Salvador Dali of music.
What a fine instrument of a voice he possessed ~ have greatly enjoyed the deep dive I have taken this last week on this very unique artist.
He was a most lively interpreter of American pre WW2 music and highly witty at reinventing contemporary later 20th century popular songs 🎵 - of which Highway To Hell is my favourite.
Joy, laughter, fun, charisma, class - TT had it all!

I used to be a busking musician I would have loved a chance to perform with Herbert! I love people who romanticize the music and ways of the past, he was simultaneously young at heart and an old soul. Rest in piece, Sir.

After long observation,,I think Tiny was just an incredibly talented ,geeky looking tall awkward guy, who loved music and chose music as his life, and was cruely dismissed because of his appreance and on stage prescence as some kind of missplaced freak.He was not that at all.He was a good guy and deserved a better reception with the public and a better life.The truth is I think he lived a lonely frustrated life because nobody really took the trouble to hear his stuff.So long Tiny.
I wouldn't say he was really dismissed, alot of people knew how special he was during his lifetime. He just had the worst management and made some horrible decisions. There are articles and audio recordings available of Tiny being publicly championed by all the Beatles, Frank Zappa, Pete Townsend, Jim Webb, and many more. He met with Bob Dylan and recorded with the Band, collaborated with George Harrison, and was later somewhat of a personal multimedia project for famous artist Martin Sharp. During his height from 68-70 Tiny was insanely successful. He was able to live the rest of his life as a musician doing the music he personally loved. In my opinion Tiny Tim is an inspiration, as he himself stated in his book 'Beautiful Thoughts' , "Don't be discouraged, even Tiny Tim made it"

I had forgotten what a machine he was! This is Non-Stop he has not got youth on his side anymore. And yet no Auto-Tune or phony baloney just pure lung power! This is almost the exact same performance I got to witness twice a day on the Great American circus with the exception of a few songs that were changed here in there and a few songs added here and there he was always a whirlwind of excitement when he performed and you can see it on his face in this video how happy he was to perform sorry about the lack of punctuation if you can understand what I just said I don't know what to say

I found out about Tiny Tim because of insidous and I'm so glad i did. His voice is so soothing!
He's weird, but awesome. His covers of WWI and WWII era songs introduced me to some great artist and songs. "Livin In The Sunlight" got my hooked on Maurice Chevalier
I first heard and learned of him from the early early years of Monday Night RAW.
The orchestra is AMAZING I'm so impressed by the basic improvisation like the train whistle and clinks and clanks in "I've been working on the railroad". Unless they rehearsed beforehand... But still!
