My favorite teachers always gave me options. Physics was always "so long a you're not bothering others, do what you want", so I was messing around in the physics modeling software we were using. Others were "you can do some reading (bonus, big reader, always had a book with me) or do you WANT to run some errands (sure, I like wandering around), least of course was "just put your head down and stay quiet. Of the teachers I liked.

      I often got rude hostility…
accusations of just “skimming” it or sloppiness by “speeding” thru.
      Uhm no.
      Check my work.
Me: “A minus? why the minus? I got them all right.”
Teacher: “Because I told you before to slow down and not be sloppy.”
Me: “I did go slower just for you.”
Teacher:”Oh you think you are so smart. Keep it up with being a smart alek and I’ll send you to the principal!”
Some of the teachers HATE smart kids. Jealous of the high IQ kids. i didn’t understand it back then but I can see it now. I just didn’t know why I got hostility from some teachers. I was a good well behaved kid.

I was tutor for hire and the errand runner. On the latter my second grade teacher had me convinced I was the best note passer-oner ever to grace her presence. She would tell me I was very trustworthy and quick. Anyway took me years to realize the errands weren’t for her, they were for me. She prevented me from boredom and also gave me some confidence, even if she was just being strategic it means a lot that she put in that extra attention and care, other teacher would make me seem like a discipline case, but the teacher I had like her made the biggest difference.

I was either the tutor or the free time one, but by default usually free time. If the teacher saw though, i usually had to go help some people, but I actually really enjoyed helping 😊

I usually tell em to just chill unless it's a kid who becomes distracting. Then they become my helper

The errand runner and free time is the fun ones. I also liked when my teacher asked us to help her do stuff

I was the one who had to help the other students. I would finish my creative writing assignments first and then the teacher would say when the rest of the class needed their work proof-read to go to her or me. I never signed up for that.

As a gifted kid, man I wish I'd had a class like yours. We only visited gifted every few days then went back to our room. I'd love to have been separated!

The clue names omg!! Our highschool is currently doing a production of clue, which I’m in, and that made me irrationally happy
