  • Abiola Ajayi-Obe is seeking £180,000 in return for an 18% equity stake in SmartChartz. Abiola left her job as an NHS Risk Manager to scale SmartChartz up, but the Dragons just can't wrap their heads around the numbers.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

@Itznun Yabizness most of the criminals I’ve met have had parents just like yourself. All it did was help them practice how to not get caught. Meanwhile the vast majority of sensible, kind people who have a strong work ethic I’ve met weren’t raised to live in fear. It doesn’t have to be one or the other you know - make your kids afraid of the consequences and tell them why they should be, but they oughtn’t fear you specifically.

Her first actual go of proper parenting and spending time with her children was failing miserably, so she was about to bow out - she finally comes up with something that allows her to control her own two children and believes she's some parent messiah who can teach the masses how to parent. Then she has the audacity to try to tell the dragon's they don't understand business. What you can see from this is that she is a control freak, who can't 'read the room' .. which doesn't mix well with spending large times with young children, who generally need some flexibility and empathy. And for that reason, I'm out.

Looks like the company never went anywhere. Records show it was dormant around 2004 with no sales, after only starting in 2003. The company expanded into consultancy which the pitcher did on a personal basis. She did mediocre trading over the next 10 or so years, never even achieving revenues close to £180,000 a year, and possibly not even over the lifetime of the company. It was eventually dissolved in early 2020. In the interim it seems the pitcher supported herself and is currently back in hospital risk management jobs.

Children are a product of their environment. This is the world she created for them. Was it because she was an absent mom because she was working all the time and had other people raising her kids for her or because she didn’t bother to be a mom? Now she wants to be a full-time mom after seven years and thinks it’s the kids fault that they’re not listening to her? She needs to take a good look in the mirror and learn how to be a full-time mom and don’t spend all her time blaming the kids. Instead of cutting out bonding time with her kids she needs to do more of it. That is a sad sad situation right there. And why did she quit her job to run this business because I’m thinking surely it had something to do with having more time with her kids? And yet now she’s built a business around negativity the stems from how she feels about her kids. Crazy

She was lying, in my opinion, about her confidence in making 750k in one year.
