Sony RX100 VII - Is it really the ultimate pocket sports 4k camera?

- In part one I test out the video and photography of this Sony RX100vii pocket rocket. I head up to Goodwood Motor Circuit and put this so called ultimate sports 4k camera to the test.
Totally impressed so far with the small sony rx100, despite no ND filter and only battery at present it performed admirable. The video is outstanding, and the photos are also stunning but you need to be a little careful of low light situations.
The out of camera JPG's were good. But preferred my edited RAW files as I felt the sony JPG's were a little colourless compared to my canon. It wont replace my Canon EOS R, by any means. But a go anywhere camera that produces outstanding results.
Part 2 - i will check out some accessories (MagFilter & 52mm K&F Variable ND ), and investigate the files a little more.

Great video! Do you think OIS/IBIS is good enough for panning shots? I love driving at track day and I love automotive photography! I currently have Sony A9 but system is too big for me to carry it around all the time 😢 so im seriously considering this camera
It's a good camera, but for panning, it could prove hard to keep track of the subject through the evf at low shutter speeds. If you are happy to use a faster shutter and burst mode on the tracking the subject on th4 back screen, you should be fine. Worth checking out some of the sonys' more recent cameras, you might find there is something better for you now. Hope this helps.
@@ChristianLawrence Thanks for detailed explanation! I love sony's newer camera but none of them has reach and compact form of rx100vii... I wish they make rx100m8 but doesn't seem like that's the case
@racesuey yes the rx100m8 is long over due. Doesn't appear to be on the horizon for release either.
AGR2 grip is a must have. Also like the mini tripod VCT-SGR1

Some great shots there Chris, would love something like this to compliment my Fuji and times when you just want to travel light. Is the focal length usable across the range, I've not seen much taken at the 200mm end. Apart from a built-in nd filter, like earlier models this camera is as close to perfect as you can get in the one-inch sensor range. Atb Anthony
Hi Anthony. The camera is pretty sharp even at 200mm. I have just got a magnetic nd filter for it (just working on the video ;-) ) which is working great. Being 1inch sensor it lacks a little when zooming in. The jpg's eliminate the noise, but the raw files need a little tweaking. Colour science is again different from canon and sony, and miss the touch screen. But for the size its awesome, and no more tired arms when vlogging. The 4k is very good. But for photography detail it doesn't compare to XT3 or EOS R when zoomed in, but that's the sensor size. But the ultimate companion to your main camera. Cheers Chris
