Now I have my own restoration project... A 1970 Chris craft Lancer 23. I am just installing the new transom. Thanks for your vids. Great help and inspiration. Ron from Germany
I started keeping everything (smalls) in a shoe box just in case. Love donor boats for stuff especially if you can get them free. I know how that goes but usually its bits or sockets that just vaporize into thin air never to be seen again around my projects. Love your videos and can say that whenever i get discouraged with my 87 Chaparral Villian ive been restoring since April 2017 i think of all the work you have put in on yours and it motivates me to finish it. Thank you.
I happened to stumble across a video on how to bleed surge brakes and got to watching all your other videos - very interesting. Great job on this boat restore..
Very nice job! Working on a 69 Camaro engine installation I dropped the right hand engine mount through bolt. Heard it hit the cross member but not the floor. Hours of looking and nothing. There's an oblong hole on a VERTICLE face of the cross member to access the mount post bolts. It seemed impossible but I fished in there with my magnet & pulled out not only the bold I dropped but another one too. Amazing what can happen!
Incredible Job. These videos are the most relaxing things I have ever watched. Whenever I can't sleep put these things on and I am out. Plus the work you did on this boat was beyond belief. Jeez, I didn't think there was anything left in the boat that you hadn't coated in resin. At one point I thought you might peanut butter and gel coat your Dad cause you ran out of boat to coat. Congrats.
I'll tell ya man, for a cowboy, you sure can restore a boat. I am bout to pull my first 305 from a Bayliner that I got for free. I hope I do as good of job as you and wish I had a dad as my right hand man.
i think it looks to good for carpet i dont mind carpet when its buttoned in but great job ive watched all your videos since the start of the project ,welldone
hello friend from argentina I write you do not know what I learned with your videos now I'm going to change the floor of my boat a question the epoxy paint is given directly on the fiberglass
Hi, I would like some advice on fuel tank placement. Should one place the tanks more to the front to equal the load or should the tank cavity be next to the engine bay?
I noticed in an earlier video the camera man said you were using unwaxed gelcoat inside and now your finishing with waxed gelcoat ,, are the reasons for that just so you dont have to sand inbetween coats or what ?
Man you have saved me a ton of time. I'm so glad I came across these videos of this build. My question is how much gel coat in total did you use to coat the deck? Unwaxed and waxed.

Hi! Could you tell me the thickness of the wood you used? Thanks. By the way, great job and great videos.
3/4 for the stringers and 5/8 for the deck
Thanks! BTW, great job.

Thats wicked that your dad helped you.
Perfect. I use US- Composites
awesome job...
looks like you still had a spot of gel coat on your nose first think in the morning from the day before,
You'll find the washer when you don't need it any longer!!
Don't use carpet it just traps water starting the rot process all over again!
You are the man!!!

I know it's 5 years after the fact, but soapy water works wonders for sliding rubber boots over cables and such.
Welder Bob after the fact.. also the motor oil makes it hard for the bellows glue stick to the boot.. even though it had a clamp..use the dish soap..
I came for the gel coat but stayed for the engine
Great idea!!
It is used for dump trucks. I had to rent it.
Gel coat fumes make you tired, just a an FYI there, but nice job on the gelcoat.
Was the washer stuck to the bottom flange on engine?
Hi nice ! what resin do use on the deck, epoxy or poly ? If poly is holding to the plywood?
Poly from US Composites.
How did the gel coat hold up for you, and what brand did you use?
Man you have saved me a ton of time. I'm so glad I came across these videos of this build. My question is how much gel coat in total did you use to coat the deck? Unwaxed and waxed.
One gallon non and one gallon waxed
jay like i said on the other vid i think you should rename the boat after your mother in her memory.
@persuaderboats
No wonder
I would love to tell you who it was to.... but I am going to keep that a secret for his protection :)
