I have been watching your video for quite sometimes and finally decide to take action on my 24 foot donzi. Thank you for the amount of detailed you providing in the video. You are amazing.
Great vids. I bought my boat this past winter. I was told that it only needed the sunrotted vinyl seats redone. during the removal I found a HUGE carpenter ant infestation. The deeper I dug, I also found that my deck was rotted. Thanks for all the great videos, they are really helping me out with my boat project.
Your videos are a great help. I'm getting ready to cut and glass my stringers and bulkheads in. I've got all my materials and tools ready to go. Ordered extra of everything so I dont run out. I'm restoring a 73 Chapparelly 18ft trihull.
Nice work! Man that is some heat you guys were working in. Always good to have your Dad working with you, that's cool. Great video and good tips, I'm getting ready to my install and will use your peanut butter recipe!
The fiberglass tabbing does. You get it really close to the hull and use a thickened resin (peanut butter) as a glue, and then lay tabs of fiberglass matt over it.
I've been watching all the videos in the Sea Ray series. You've done great work, very informative. I was wondering when you would use the disposable plastic spreaders. I live in Plano and am building a 14' skiff currently. It's cool to see someone not far away doing such great work that is applicable to my current project.
Hate to burst your bubble tea n the plastic putty spreader and your spoon method but I found out if you are spreading the thickened resin the easiest way to smooth all that out and have perfect contour to your fillets, a cheap black foam brush works amazingly well or I use a 2” chip brush
Jay, did you end up not using the RedGuard? I've been watching the whole playlist again as I have started on my Baretta Phaser 230. It was redone at a shop around ten years ago and I found a soft spot and ended up tearing out the floor. No coating on the bottom of the deck and all compartments were sealed and holding water and the floor was trash. I was hoping you had more info on the RedGuard, good, bad, didn't use it? I will probably add drainage holes through the bulkheads at the very bottom and end up sealing the others again but doing a much better job on the deck than was previously done. any word on the Scimitar? Looking forward to that rebuild as well, have followed on all of the others. Thanks for the effort you put in these.
That looks awesome. Did you apply a coat of resin on the bottom and top side of the deck or is it bare wood, also did you build the support for the seats to bolt down to.
Hi with all that Peanut Butter its a good job you don't take my dog on board, he has an addiction to Peanut Butter and would probably eat your boat and you would have to start all over again. Only joking been watching you redo your boat your doing a good job, I hope you enjoy the boating as much you seem to enjoy working on them.
@grendelsniper Yes the bottom has a layer of Csm and resin. The seats are going to have a 1.5" riser bonded to the deck so I do not have to screw it through the new deck, so no I did not put anything behind it. The deck is 5/8" anyway. Super strong.
Awesome, just awesome. I missed the step where the underside of the deck was resin'd. Was thinking condensate moisture will occur naturally with humidity and temp changes. Are the compartments sealed-sealed with no breather/vent holes?
fixin to do the same job on my 19' open bow, your videos have been a great help so far, haven't watched them all, looks like you used exterior ply, what did you do to the underside of the ply before you screwed it down? thanks for the videos!!!
Awesome videos. I paid someone to redeck my boat and screwed it all up so now I have to do it again, and Its over budget so I'm considering do it myself. These video help a lot, thanks. Question - what is exactly is the putty/pookie?
Did you put glass on the bottom side of the deck or just resin? Also I couldn’t find a video explaining the red guard stuff and the reasoning behind it. Do you have have that video somewhere?
what supports the new deck to the sides of the hull? is it just the foam? I don't have any wood around the outside to screw down the new deck. is it just the foam that holds it up? thanks, jim

Can't believe the work your putting in. Gotta hand it to you, keeping a great attitude through it all.

I thank God I don't live where you live. Good work. 👍👌

Stainless steel screws and i got the 5200 from west marine.
Why didn't you show the foam step???
Also, you didn't show the Gel Coat step either....those are the things I was hoping to see!!!!
did you not fibreglass under the floor? also, much better to pour the foam before floor goes in and just use a hand saw flat across to remove excess

I know you are using marine board, but did you coat the both sides of the wood with [clear penetrating epoxy sealer] two part mix A and B.
have u ever used spabond as a glue expansive but strong frisco good for major supa yacht structure
Hi J :) Can you tell me what type of putty you and your dad were putting on the screws before placing them in the deck?
looks like torture working in that texas heat
noticed you gelcoated the ski locker, what else under the deck did you gelcoat
Jay, what kind of screws did you use to attach deck and where did you get 5200?
hey did you use 1'' 1/2 screws on the deck ?
i got that same 19 32nd bc sanded for mine just curios what length screw you used
Is the the mixture that I use to fill gaps and round corners. I have a vid on how to make it.
What is the name to the product you used for the screws (the white glue )
where are you screwing the floor into? The stringers?
How did you make the "pookie"
is that 5/8 marine plywood or what kind?
What glue did. You use?
