My dad was an engineer, my brother is an engineer and I felt you were one too 😅. A business partner got me a Remarkable 2 just a few days ago bc he noticed the way I looked at his in a meeting. It came with a really elegant case and a marker 2 pen. It's really great. The best thing it does it MAKES YOU WANNA WRITE, and that's something. It's beautiful, the design is sleek & pure, it's really nice

Great job on your candid review of the Remarkable. I purchased a Remarkable three times. The first version lagged; the second time, I didn't give myself the chance to learn to write, so I returned it. The third time was the charm, and I've been using mine for over two years now without regrets. Last year, I also impulsively bought the type folio, but I've only used it three times! Fortunately, there are fantastic non-brand accessories available that work exceptionally well. 👍👍

The keyboard is great by the way. It is great to write off the grid distraction free. I don't use it often but when I do it is indispensable. It is a super device. Never going back.

Good to know. Just out of curiosity, when do you use the keyboard vs just handwriting ?

@@inteGREATion I use it when I need to compose something by typing. I generally use the tablet offline unless I need to transfer something. It is helpful to compose a draft that I can mark up with handwriting. I can erase and modify the the handwriting but the typing remains until deleted via the keyboard. I use the handwriting more but there are times when typing is needed.. The handwriting to text is good but it is not a substitute for typing. You can type for days without needing to charge the device.

Appreciate hearing how you use the tablet. Great tips on saving money by avoiding the case and pen. Great cheaper alternates are out there for both. Price of the devices have come down too so makes a lot more sense to purchase now if pricing was holding anyone back.

Glad it was helpful! Also worth considering the reMarkable 1, it doesn't seem like there is much of a difference in features tbh

Having looked at a reMarkable 1 (my son-in-law had one and was always encouraging me to get one - even loaning me his for a couple of meetings I needed to take notes in) - I was totally unimpressed and would not get one. I kickstarted the reMarkable 2 (yes, I’ve had it for over 4 years now) and I am very happy with it. I don’t know what the software update of the reMarkable 1 is, but the difference in hardware/quality between the two devices is night and day. Also - if you happen to find a reMarkable 1 now, it’s “new old stock” and is several years old at a minimum.

@@justjonoutdoors Hey thanks for pointing that out, i was under the impression there wasnt much of a difference. Sounds like the reMarkable 1 is a clunky remarkable 2

@@inteGREATion plastic vs metal, plastic vs glass, 1st generation concept. Not knocking the reMarkable 1 as being cutting edge at its introduction - just not enough to lure me in, and a night and day difference between the 1 & 2. There is also a night and day difference in the writing FEEL between the 1 and 2 - that was probably the biggest selling feature to me. I’ve used the 2 daily for over 4 years now and don’t fathom how I ever got along without it. Currently it’s the equivalent of about 4-5 CASES (500 sheets to the ream, 10 reams to the case) of paper I have instantly to hand all the time!

@@justjonoutdoors good to know there is a difference between the two - that seesm to be the consensus on here. And sounds like you are getting your moneys worth lol

This was a great review, unlike so many other reviews this one sounded very honest and it didn't sound like an advert. The feature I am most interested in with the Remarkable 2 is that it does handwriting into typed printed text. You mentioned it in this review, you said it was "really good". Is it very accurate at converting handwriting to typed printed text please? Is it quick at doing this or slow, or a lot of buttons to press? Can I cut and paste that typed printed text into a word-processor document on my computer and then edit in a word-processor what I originally jotted down in my quick, not the neatest handwriting? I am trying to find out more about this particular feature but so many reviews fail to even mention it. Hope you don't mind me asking please.

Hey thanks for the kind words.
The remarkable is pretty accurate and quick at converting text from handwritten to typed. You can then cut and paste into a word processor using the app on your pc/Mac and make changes for example to the mistakes it made when converting.
Its not something i do often, but i just tried it and its not a hard - just takes a bit getting used to like anything new. Hope it works out for you :)
