So glad to find someone else that uses the iPad and rM2 together. I felt kind of guilty running the two side by side, but to see someone else do the same is validating ;)
Omg I’m so glad you loved the full focus planner. I loved that system but it’s a lot of paper for each notebook. Which is why I’m looking into the Remarkable Pro.
Great video, it’s helpful to have all your notes in one place. Can you use your iPad/Apple Pencil to add to a Remarkable note on the Remarkable iPad app?
Scott I started to watch you when you where just begging your journey. I'm polish but grown up in Ireland. Before COVID I was engaged doing videos and then everything changed. I'm working as a Hotel Manager in the city centre of Dublin. I'm going to be honest. I didn't watch you for a long time because you were moving forward and I was going back, but now I found something weird agreement with myself that I understood and need to move forward. You are a smart guy, thank you for the wedding behind the scenes 😅 helped me a lot even I did it once by myself. It went great even though the prist locked my cameras in the church 😂 always need to improvise like you. I didn't touch computer at home and camera for years but then yesterday I remembered about you. Let see what happens 😅 thank you man. It's probably my first comment on you tube 😂 I hope you read it 😎 Cheers!
Thank you. Really very helpful. The way you layout your use case. Recognising that there is another way to see it. Not just either, or. But also. The most compelling I’ve heard for the remarkable.
I would have to 100% agree with you. Wrughting somthing down it’s more efficient than typing it down, I believe it's a good way to remember things and help you stay on track. But I'm the one to talk, I don't write things down as I should all the time.
I upgraded my iPad as well, but I still have the same problem - it's in sidecar mode, and I'm taking notes on a pad & post its next to me - it's just too inefficient to use the iPad for taking quick notes. Of course, I lose the post its, the notes, etc. I have to take pictures of all of them which is annoying. However, the price point of the Remarkable is insane 😞
Great video, thank you for the comparison. What is the best note taking app to use instead of the remarkable? Is there one that is close. I'm not really seeing One Note as an option that I like
I like notability the best on the iPad. But Apple notes is best for straight up note taking with text. But notability is better for hand drawn notes and doodles
Thank you for this video. I have an iPad Pro and ordered a Remarkable Paper Pro as an additional device for patient notes. I was feeling guilty until watching your video 😊 I really like the idea of keeping it on and next to my iPad. Thanks again!
Thanks Scott! Great Video! Do you still use the Remarkable for quick note taking? Do you ever export your notes for long term storage (like meeting notes) perhaps as a pdf to Notion or some other PKM? I loved the Remarkable and have even tried the Boox, but at the end of the day the writing feel is great on either E-ink device, and it fits perfectly JUST for quick notes - replacing Paper…. THANX
I sold my Remarkable since making this video because I wasn’t using it enough. Ever since getting the new IPad Pro M4, that’s my main and only device that I use for everything now.
My Remarkable has saved many trees. Love how I can import files from Onedrive but the drawback is you can only import PDF's. I would love to see WORD docs to be added. Not sure why this isn't feasible. I love the feel, the different "pens" you can buy and how this little device has actually made me more organized. It's a notebook. That's it and I love not having sticky notes all over as well as wasting paper.
The ReMarkable 2 does actually connect to the internet. You can send emails, but you can't receive them. Also, you can turn writing into text and you can connect all nptes and PDFs via their Connect service and access OneDrive & Google Drive and you can see all the notes you take on ReMarkable onto an iPad...so you missed a whole lot in a good review otherwise.
Remarkable is still better than all the other e ink hands down. No distractions is the key. I agree with this but I'm an android user and use the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ instead of the insane fruit ecosystem...........
Man, it doesn’t write smooth! That’s the point of reMarkable that there’s a friction which you can simulate on smooth iPad screen as well with Paperlike 😂 Ever wondered why your tips wear off? Precisely because it’s not a smooth surface 😂 You should really prepare better ❤
@@scottmckenna Software users can wait, but at the very least users have to buy the hardware product first, and in this area of hardware, they are too slow and have been surpassed by multiple rivals.
Actually, the Remarkable team keeps improving the software on a consistent basis for everyone who has bought the hardware instead of just trying to sell new hardware in a cash grab. The current device works great, doesn’t need an upgrade. I’d call that a win.
@@davesnow I agree with you for the most part. I wouldn't mind a backlight that is available to turn on when needed because there have been a few times where I wanted to use my reMarkable at night and with my normal evening room lighting it was a little hard to see. Other than that I do think they really nailed the hardware and I hope they don't stray too far from the design in the next version. The higher DPI white paper screen (300 dpi on the Kindle) would also be a great bonus.
So basically you bought reMarkable, because you didn’t realize you won’t need keyboard with iPad and you didn’t know that there’s Paperlike screen protector for iPad that will give you the same feel for few bucks 😂 Very clever and brave to share this with us 😂
Since you’re clearly new to my channel, I’ll help clarify. I’m a huge iPad user, and I’ve been using the iPad (with a paper like screen protector) for many years. It’s my main device. The Remarkable absolutely has a better writing experience, and with the new model they came out with, it just got even better. I still like my iPad more, and I use it far more, but the remarkable is a great tool for many people.
@@scottmckenna Did you actually have the newest Paper Pro model? Because I do and it’s not really better than RM2. They just wanted to catch Onyx Boox and Supernote but failed with the same limited OS. Bigger size, colors and glass display cover won’t cut it.

Update: I sold my RM2 since I made this video. When I got the new iPad Pro M4, I decided I no longer need the RM2.
@@scottmckenna I’m curious as to what it was about the M4 that made you give up the RM2?
@@scottmckenna 11 or 13 ipad pro?

I agree, great companion device

This makes so much sense to me. Thank you for sharing your workflow.
Glad this makes sense for you.
Great video, it’s helpful to have all your notes in one place.
Can you use your iPad/Apple Pencil to add to a Remarkable note on the Remarkable iPad app?
No. Typing only on external devices. It’s annoying, I agree.
I would love the R2 to be able to import to Apple Notes.
I’ve now got two products with notes in both and I forget which note is where.
Not gonna happen, but that’d be nice.

That was a really good review! Thank you!
My MacBook Pro 16' with the M1 PRO chip, my iPad mini 6th generation and my RemarKable 2 are a winning trio!
Nice.

I mentioned that in the video if you watched the whole thing.
Great stuff Scott! I want one now! lol
I really like it. Surprisingly.
Did you filmed this with the 20 mm 1.8 ? Or something else?
24mm 1.4 G Master.
I prefer having one device only, and that is an iPad Pro. Much better, simpler, cheaper

I like the feel or the Remarkable more than the iPad even with a paper like screen protector. But, I do use the iPad much more.
Actually, the Remarkable team failed in 2024 because all other brands released new products, but they did not.
I imagine there’s only so many things they can upgrade on a regular basis. It’s a pretty basic device.
