Sheltered cats are distressed and hypostimulated so it's possible that they see visitors as a source of comfort or affection. Feral cats living outside are competing mostly for food when is scarce and even when it's plentiful they follow a strict hierarchy for the "pecking order".

Nah, they have been trained to expect food, after a few minutes of being filmed. They are trained, like Pavlov's Dogs. Not to say that is a bad thing, I like people who feed stray cats, I just don't like them milking it for views, like a Lord of the Manor waiting until the right moment to dish food out for the peasants for the best impact for their own benefit.

Because the meow that a cat makes to a human is learned. It is not part of the natural repertoire of sounds that a cat makes to other cats. My cat does not meow at me. She grunts. Deep grunts from a small cat. It is weird but that is the sound she makes when she wants food.

I live in Turkey and our backyard is the same! I open the window and pspsps, the entire neighborhood's cats gather in our garden. I feed and pet all of them! Our neighbors also feed all of them. Also 3 of them chose our garden to give birth in recently, I think they trust us and know we'll help. We have a bunch of kittens now.

Honestly, I'm 27 y/o, the first time I've pat a cat was last summer when a stray cat walked up to me when on vacation in Spain. I've actually never seen a single stray cat in my country (The Netherlands), and whenever i see domestic cats roaming around the streets, they get scared the moment i reach out to pat them, even though they keep walking close to me. The thing is, I'm the exact opposite with dogs. I used to have an internship at this one small single man company and the owner of the dog said it's extremely scared of strangers so it'll likely wont come near me. Not even 5 minutes later the dog was sleeping and snoring on my lap..
I'm sorry for your loss. My cat got castrated when I was a kid, then he jumped out the window because he was sleepy/dizzy he survived, then he got ran over by a car a few days later, poor little sammy, I should've done more to protect him and keep him wel rested but as a kid I did not realise the impact that surgery had on the cat 😭

It's just basic conditioning: See human, follow human, meow a little for a chance at free food. I doubt they have the cognitive capacity to love others the way we humans do. We just like to think that they can, and there's nothing wrong with believing so.

Yes because he made the sound of a dying rat, and made them aggressive bevause they now think they have to fight over prey. Which they are full of diseases and can seriously infect each other. Even my house cats went to the vets because my sister said "pspspsps" all the time and they started fighting.
You can know how good the locals are based on the cats reaction. If the locals were treating them in a bad manner, they would certainly be afraid do approach. But here, they approach to you with no problem.
Bless their little hearts… they are so hungry. And it makes them a little more fighty with eachother. Each of them deserve and need good homes. They would thrive on love and good care 💕
They were all so talkative, it's amazing how much they quieted down once they started eating their kibbles, they must've been pretty hungry :3 That, or their parents were really adamant about not talking with their mouth full. Side note: I once had a tuxedo cat named Sparky who was *extremely* aggressive/territorial any time a neighbor/stray cat showed up near our house, so it's very strange seeing the tuxedo cat be on the *receiving* end of an aggressive cat for once.
It was great to watch those 8 cats settle down and have a real meal. I wish there was a park like that in my city where strays could gather in a place where they could get help.

Once upon a time, there was a man named George who loved nothing more than to sit in a quiet park and read a book. He would often go there during his lunch break, finding solace in the serene surroundings.
One day, as George sat on a park bench, lost in his book, he noticed a small cat sitting a few feet away. The cat looked up at him with big, curious eyes and meowed softly. George smiled and reached out to pet the cat, who purred contentedly.
As George continued to read, he noticed more and more cats gathering around him. They seemed to come out of nowhere, as if they had been drawn to him by some invisible force. Soon, there were dozens of cats sitting at George's feet, all purring and meowing softly.
George couldn't help but laugh at the strange and unexpected situation. He had always loved cats, but he had never experienced anything like this. He continued to pet and play with the cats, enjoying their company.
As the lunch break came to an end, George reluctantly gathered his things and said goodbye to the cats. As he walked away, he couldn't help but wonder what had brought all those cats to him, it was almost as if they were meant to meet.
From that day on, George made a habit of visiting the park during his lunch break. The cats always came to him, as if they were waiting for him. George found solace and peace in their company and he knew that he was meant to meet those cats.

Nope, they are just really hungry and know this guy will feed them, in exchange for some posing for his videos. He has trained them to be socialist cats, not social cats. A social cat already has food, and CHOOSES to come to you because he wants to, not because he is starving and needs to beg you for a handout.
@Blair Witch Making cats beg for food, is not the same as having them come up to say hello because they love you and enjoy your tickles. How many of those cats would have came over, if they weren't hungry and recognised a source of food?
It's just basic conditioning: See human, follow human, meow a little for a chance at free food. I doubt they have the cognitive capacity to love others the way we humans do. We just like to think that they can, and there's nothing wrong with believing so.

Yes because he made the sound of a dying rat, and made them aggressive bevause they now think they have to fight over prey. Which they are full of diseases and can seriously infect each other. Even my house cats went to the vets because my sister said "pspspsps" all the time and they started fighting.

You can know how good the locals are based on the cats reaction. If the locals were treating them in a bad manner, they would certainly be afraid do approach. But here, they approach to you with no problem.

They were all so talkative, it's amazing how much they quieted down once they started eating their kibbles, they must've been pretty hungry :3
That, or their parents were really adamant about not talking with their mouth full.
Side note: I once had a tuxedo cat named Sparky who was *extremely* aggressive/territorial any time a neighbor/stray cat showed up near our house, so it's very strange seeing the tuxedo cat be on the *receiving* end of an aggressive cat for once.

My ex had two cats called brave, and shy, when I first met them brave was the first cat to approach. Ever since then we build a bond and I fell in love with him.
