Jeez i,m 64 year old and still get goose bumps listening to Floyd. Am proud to say i first saw them in 1967 when syd was with them and that was me hooked. The last time earls court 1994.
I am a lifelong Beatles fan and will be till the day I die. However, Pink Floyd has always been my first choice of music when I'm in a certain mood and no other guitarist can fill that need other than David Gilmore. May he still be playing and singing as awe inspiring as this well into his 80's. Edited for punctuation.
+thaneco Purely off the scale. beyond my vocabulary .... (Loved your comment)(All men and women in all places forever holding hands together somewhere beyond.... )
+Hank Hardigan I second that! for me it's also the greatest album ever, it didn't get as much commercial success because it came after DSOTM, but in terms of artistry and beauty, nothing can compare to it
I saw Roger a few years back and during the comfortably numb solo. I enjoyed it like nothing else but a little part of me was longing for it to be David playing.
I've seen both Roger and David, and while Roger put on an excellent show, for me there's just no comparison to Gilmour. Roger likes to put his own spin on a lot of the classic Floyd stuff, imagine mixing Dark Side of the Moon with The Final Cut. Watching Roger I couldn't shake the feeling that I was just watching some Floyd tribute band with special guest Roger Waters. Gilmour's show however was just incredible, his voice sounded amazing, his guitar sounded amazing. He does change a lot of the solos but it still has that amazing Gilmour tone and quality. Of course, I'm a guitarist so I'm probably biased.
Rajat Agrawal He is Chucho Merchan" is a Colombian musician who most of his career has been devoted to Rock and Pop. He has served in Colombia, England, Spain and Mexico as a session musician and producer.
As a non-performing guitarist, it’s hard to say which guitarist is the best or my favorite guitarist because they all offer different lessons in playing. David Gilmour uses the same blues scales, but in a way that creates a unique emotion that people seek out. He is brilliant. His 1989 Delicate sound of Thunder tour was the best concert I have seen and I have seen nearly every major band since 1972.
sur la fin , on vois les fleurs pousser sur un moment infini!!!! c'est du floyd!!!!! j'ai 63 ans et j'ai les yeux mouiller juste apres l'infini, et pour toujours!!! Om chanti!!!
+ontariobuds Totally. Also there is something going on - and I can't explain it - about that bit where David sings 'you. crazy. diamond.' across the the chorus. I don't know what's going on there, but it works. Big time. Here: th-cam.com/video/WNJlKaF8sJc/w-d-xo.html
Eric Belz Oh why did you put it like that? You break my heart. Syncopation. Obviously subdivision of notes. Obviously. Also stretched vocal chords. Also a passion of the moment. Obviously, obviously, obviously. But if 'it's just syncopation' why not just rig up your computer to play it at you? Or perhaps show you the sheet music? Hang on, best of all possible worlds; save yourself a lot of time and a lot of emoting by creating a file that'll play the song with all the right notes and at just the right time while showing you the sheet music. You could even put your headphones on.
I may have an older face, perhaps arguably a better body, but still lay in the grass and smoke weed listening to this, probably should stop doing it in the winter though.
SnakeRiverFishing That one & only person would be James Marshall Hendrix, David wears' Jimis' own guitar strap !!, Davids' wife bought it at an auction for him as a birthday present, Peace.
Keiran Bradley if Jimi were alive today I bet he would be happy to play with David even wear his strap they're both epic in their own way yes Jimi are the guitar as well : )
SnakeRiverFishing it's amazing what Jimi accomplished in such a short space of time !!, the mind boggles to wonder what He would've went on to do !!, David is a unique talent too, beautiful phrasing & touch, real bluezy, Peace.
Masterful. My only complaint is that it should have been longer. It's wonderful to see an artist like Gilmour, forty years past Floyd's 'golden era', still innovating, adding beauty and brilliance. How many people of that epoch, if they're performing at all, are just grinding out their 'hits' at revue gigs, hoping to pull in a bit of extra cash, backed by some generic young back-up musicians?
Love the age comments. I am 76, and was in the SF Bay Area scene from '62 - '83. I never saw Pink Floyd in person, but saw most all the greats of the greats during that time. David Gilmore's talent and arrangements are legend. Total timeless beauty!

Actually, after spending a couple nights trying to replicate the sound, I don't think it's standard tuning anymore. There's a note in particular near the beginning that would be played right on the nut if it was standard tuning.

Best Concert I ever saw was Pink Floyd..!! Mind blowing..So Good ..Love them,,Such Great Talent.. !!
I could listen to Dave Gilmour and Dick Parry all day.
I do from time to time.
Pink Floyd without Dick Parry would leave a pretty big hole in a number of songs. Those solos are epic.
Wish You Were Here. Best album ever made
try the yes album
Haven't heard the yes album, but i like fragile and close to the edge. I'll check it out =)
No . Delecate sound of Thunder. the best coz they was in top power .. new equipment and every one was young it was the really the Thunder sound..

How I wish I was there! ❤️ I wish one day I can see David Gilmour in concert ❤️
wow i like your name " galaxia" i never see, great!
Galaxia Planchez I saw them in 93 in Toronto. it was the best show I ever have or ever will see again in my life.

To think that old respectable people today were crazy young pot smoking fools listening to this lying down in the grassy fields...
And doing acid :)
What else would one do? I'm old and respectable now? COOL!
I'm 57 and still lay down in the grass smoking weed...with my kids.

There were some generic young backup musicians...but they were all awesome
I agree with you but at the same time it sounds to me like Davids voice is getting tired lately.
FANTASTIC !!! GILMOUR GUITARIST LEGEND !!!!
At 14 the first album I heard was Wish You Were Here. It changed my life. David Gilmour is a rare gem who has and still does grace our lives.
Anyone that has ever wondered what perfection is, well if you've listened to this video, that is perfection.
With the greatest respect... the mastermind behind Floyd... David Gilmour... the LEGEND lives on....
The upright bass player knows he's cool. Maybe a little bit more than we know he's cool.
+rob brown He`s good though so he gets away with it.
+BarronBrothersFilms He's playing with David Gilmour, so he's pretty cool.

He has a voice that refuses to quit with age. Also he's guitar god.
