- Here's our Corydoras catfish care and fact sheet. Is this a Julii cory or leopard cory? Let us know. We highly recommend keeping these catfish in a community aquarium as they are excellent housekeepers. Please feel free to comment. Thanks for watching!
They are so cute 😍
Don't you need sand for cory? It looks like your tank does not have any sand. Do they survive without sand?
Not necessarily for these catfish as they love picking out food particles in between the gravel. I would recommend small to medium sized gravel but you could do sand as long as it doesn't raise the PH of the water above 8.0. (non calcium based)Corys are from South America so they like soft and slightly acidic water but they can tolerate a range of PH and DH. I know that info on these catfish recommend a soft substrate but I haven't seen them have any problems with small to medium gravel.
This is a false julli cory, I have a school of about 17 adults. They are awesome 👍
Thanks for the identification. When I used to work for tropical fish stores and pet stores in the 80's and 90's the false Julii cory cat was what we mostly got in and dominated the fish scene back then.
corydoras have gotten very delicate
.....I remember back in the day they were very tough....hardy fish but it now seems like they die so easy.....too much inbreeding I think I will not buy them any more....they are so delicate.
I haven't had these fish since the 90's when I was breeding the peppered cory and the green/brown cory. It was water from a well so the PH was 7.0 and DH was soft. This little guy in the video is doing well in a PH of 8.0 and DH of 7 which has surprised me. Happy fish keeping!
they're schooling fish
It is female
Julie you have beautiful eyes
and beautiful spots too!
Why would anybody listen to you and you don't even know what kind of Cory that is. And don't have them in the appropriate number.
Hard to tell due to all the hybridization. There are two that look very very similar even before all the hybridization. I'm not a Taxonomist let alone a catfish expert and don't pretend to be. If you know something about this catfish please share with us. There are some fish, shrimps, etc that absolutely have to be kept with others or they perish quickly. This catfish is not one of them. He/she is doing great. Get your facts straight and realize what amateur fish keeping is all about. You can always learn something from others(my purpose for Youtubing) and not all situations are permanent. My previous post stated that this catfish will be put in a bigger aquarium with other Corys this year. Keep watching more videos and it would'nt hurt to read a tropical fish book/magazine once in a while. Please keep your comment positive from now on!
