He used the powers of the Gods of darkness and light to rejoin Salem even though that wasn't why they gave it to him, it was for him to help humanity stop fighting with themselves. Yet he used it for his own greed. He made the mistake of not telling his followers of the truth of Salem and his connections with her and of her true power of not being beatable because now he's lost their loyalty even Qrow has turned his back on Ozpin the one man who found Ozpin like a father for giving his life purpose. He made the mistake of putting the weight on Pyrra of becoming the fall maiden and letting her have to think of fully going through with it which cause it leading to them being to late because of the invasion of Beacon and possibly much more that I haven't mentioned.

Honestly, I don't understand why people see Ozpin as a sort of villain now, both in Rmeanent and by the viewers of RWBY. He never actually lied about anything, he left a lot of information out for sure, but to be fair no one ever asked him if Salem could be destroyed or asked about his long term strategy. When you consider it was revealed Ozpin was the old man who granted the Maidens their powers so long ago that it had become a legend/children's tale, which he openly shared with everyone, it kinda implies he has been around for thousands of years. Did they think he was just chilling that whole time, or battling to save Remanent? If he has been fighting for thousands of years and still hasn't achieved victory, did Team RWBY really think this was going to be an easy battle? Even then, he didn't actively try to recruit them either. Cinder and the White Fang attacked Beacon and Salem's orders, and Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Blake, Jaune, Ren and Nora all went after Cinder or the White Fang willingly. They themselves drew the attention of Salem as potential threats. They signed up to help people and to fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves. When it was clear Salem had noticed them, including Ruby, only then did Qrow fill them in on the details. Ozpin didn't trick them into anything. He never promised them anything. And finally, even if he had been upfront about Salem's immortality, so what? Really, so what? Was Team RWBY just going to disband and quit because there is no point anymore? If so, they should never have chosen to become Huntresses. Evil has and will always continue to exist in any world where there are human life, knowledge and choice to destroy or create. It has always been a never-ending battle. So what if Salem is immortal, it changes nothing. Evil will always exist in one form or the other. In this case, it is in the form of Salem. Even if you are only delaying her or sabotaging her schemes, it is still saving lives. If the best you can hope for is to battle Salem into a stalemate, then so be it. At least Remnant and it's people live to see another day. At least hope still exists. Ozpin understood this better than anyone. If anyone has reason to give up, it's Ozpin. He has lost the love of his life, not to death but something far worse. His wife then proceeded to murder their children and himself. He has died countless times for thousands of years in pursuit of completing a mission given to him by the God of Light that is almost downright impossible, all in the hopes that one-day Remnant will have a brighter future. Yang lost an arm, so what? Ozpin was incinerated, more than once. He has kept the beacon of hope alive despite no end to his suffering being in sight. He gave up peace in the Afterlife, in servitude of Remnant. Ozpin is the real hero of Remnant, the hero they don't deserve.
I don't know about the universe of Remnant but I can compare ozma to someone I know very well - remembering an archer in Red coat, who burnt it self for the sake of humanity -
How can they call him a monster or a evil villain when he has been fighting Salem for a 1000 years? And hasn’t give up yet? He is more hero than everyone on the main crew. Just dying and coming back without losing your straight to still fight no matter what, is something that only a hero can do.
Ozpin doesn’t deserve the hate, and being called evil, he just needs help. He gave them a choice to join and help or leave. They chose to join, and their mad at him. He said he’s made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child and he meant it. He fell in love, he died, was brought back, died again, was brought back in a reincarnation, fell in love again with the same person, had a family, was happy, person and him had a fall out, and their family crumbled. He’s seen things, grown attached to people, been betrayed, hurt, and all these things have changed him. To an extent where he doesn’t know who’s loyal, who’s lying, who’s plotting, he’s numb. He’s stopped growing connections. And this group of kids isn’t being helpful. Weiss he can trust her she hasn’t done anything to be untrustworthy. Blake runs when times get tuff Ruby is too innocent, but can be naive, and her trust is easily gained, and she tries to find the light in everyone’s darkness(good but bad sometimes) Yang is a bargirl who is untrusting, easily angered, difficult, scarred, and has issues. Qrow is a living and walking bad luck charm who is mad for not being told a backstory. And an old lady who has seen a lot and has been through a lot too. Oscar is the important character who is like a background character. Ozpin is a sad lonely guy who doesn’t deserve to become evil or the bad guy. He deserves peace and his final resting hour. No more reincarnations becuz it’s hurting him mentally. Making him untrusted and sad. He’s an amazing character who deserves more than he’s given. So let’s stop making him the bad guy. And feel for him, he’s been through a lot, seen a lot, and deserves a lot. All the things he’s did that are bad aren’t justified but take time and really look at his life before RWBY and things.
I agree with you. Everyone has reasons for not sharing information. Spoiler for Vol. 7 for those who haven't seen it: Didn't the group lie to Ironwood about what really happened to Ozpin? They got mad at a man for lying, but decided to lie about Salem and Ozpin to a War General/Atlas Headmaster/Man who has two seats on the council, whats basically his second in command, and their friend who they haven't seen in a while? Really? And if I remember it correctly, Oscar called it out to Ruby after she let him keep the lamp with him, and they all decided to keep a secret for now. But when Ozpin does it, it's wrong and he gets yelled at and punched in the face?

Agreed. The gods force him to clean up their mess when they could easily stop Salem. They force a man to reincarnate AFTER making a huge deal about how people should stay dead. The brothers are the true bad guys in the this story.

Ozpin's story is the real story of RWBY. He's the real hero of the story. Everyone else is a child in this world, even the adults. He is a man given an impossible task to struggle with for eternity. A man who gets up again and again and again to hope, struggle, fail, die, and hope again. What others can do by violence, he must do by persuasion. What others can destroy in an careless instant, he has to build with care and patience for decades. It is a struggle against men, monsters, and Gods. The rest of the story is nice, but it's Ozpin's story that adds real depth to RWBY and it will be Ozpin's story that concludes with the series. And he's losing. It's been falling apart since the first season. Thanks for making this video. It captures his battle well. I'm glad someone else can see him as I see him and appreciate the depth of this story. I can't see a good way for this to end for Ozpin, but he deserves it more than anyone. He's the best of the best in every way.
Most people compared Ozpin to the wizard of Oz at least early on, now he makes me think of Atlas The immortal cursed to carry the weight of the heavens on his back I can't imagine what this would be like.

Atlas fell because Ironwood, the tin man, kept using brutal and heartless tactics driving everyone close to him away. If the pattern will remain the same, then Theodore, the headmaster of Shade and probable Scarecrow, will use increasingly foolish tactics that will cause Shade to fall.
I never understand why the "group" hated him so much. He is the equivalent of a living, walking hero from a fairy tail. How do they feel "betrayed" that Ozpin chooses to keep his possibly traumatic backstory private? Betrayed would be learning that Ozpin was working for Salem the whole time or something, not "I don't actually have a way to defeat Salem." And oh wow, Ozpin isn't the know-it-all they thought he was... except he literally told them that he made more mistakes than anyone. The fact that every single one of RWBY and JNR sees him as pure evil feels so awkward especially since he hasn't really done anything wrong or rather evil up to this point, except turning 2 people into birds???
Especially considering Qrow and Raven consented to being turned into birds!! He's always given everyone a choice, he's not the monster they're trying to make him out to be. And I agree, after seeing his traumatic past, the group is mad at him? They saw all he'd suffered and they decided he's the bad guy? It makes no sense. He was forced into this role of being reincarnated over and over, of being a fairy tale hero, and suddenly everyone turns on him the moment they find out he doesn't have all the answers. This man needs a hug and a healthy support network.
a sad story of a man whose only sin was in love and a woman who whole world was the man who freed her from her lonely fate. at the end of the day they were only both human. when even the gods are falable how could they be expected to do and better. i pity salem for the villian she became who could never accept her own fault in her fate. and i respect Ozma for even now not merely giving up after all he's been forced to endure. after all its a common tale for the hero to become a villian and yet even after everything Ozpin my have become jaded but never evil.
Based on eruption Fang's breakdown of this episode, ozma is good and ozpin isn't and i agree. The world was doomed the moment ozma left Salem, he could have changed her, he should have tried. Ozpin keeps withholding truth from everyone so no one wants to fight with him. There is no evil. Eruptionfang claims that Salem simply wants to die, to be freed of the curse or to kill the gods. Ozpin wants to get rid of salem because he knows the world isn't worthy. I do like ozpin and how complex he is, the problem I find with ozpin is he knows he can beat Salem persay and he should have told people the truth, knowledge and choice is needed for the gods to think the world is worthy, but he gives them neither. I do understand the hate he gets but I like him as a character despite how hyprocritical he can be.
Salem is immortal, and thus eternal. She has now grown to control the Grimm, to control the negative aspects of humanity, and uses those aspects to bring about people into her cause, and spread the negativity so that she can destroy society with all her might. It functions with how evil is a constant presence that always lurks within humans, and that you can fight it, but you can never destroy it. Humans can fight Salem, but they can never truly win and be rid of her forever. Ozpin, on the other hand, is someone that constantly reincarnates, and thus is not constantly active. He has to constantly start over a life with each incarnation. He doesn't live continuously like Salem, which shows the limitations of man. He fights against Salem, builds and creates society for humans to grow and evolve, but he is never any closer to defeating her because she is unwinnable. This shows how Ozpin is the eternal struggle against evil. Just because you can never truly destroy evil entirely doesn't mean you have to give in. The fact that Ozpin never stops in his belief that humanity can achieve salvation is proof that he has the true heart of a hero and a good man. He struggles with doing the right thing and has to accept the many wrong decisions he has made, and even when they come back to bite him he refuses to give up.
I mean when ozpin takes a new host his personality merges with them, meaning ozma along with every single person he has become all attach their own personality to this one being, so technically part of ozpin is what the host acted like

Ozma had lived so many lives and he has seen so much death sorrow and betrayal. He has fought his beloved so manybtimes that is logical that he hide so many secrets
I could understand why some people wanted Ozpin back, especially Ironwood. He's been on Remnant for a very long time and he's very wise. Plus, he just radiates calm and stability. I totally get why everyone looked up to him. I still like him. I still don't quite understand why everyone was mad at him for lying. Ozpin has been around way longer than them. I don't think he would lie easily. He had good reason. He didn't want the world to descend into chaos and panic. I'm still worried that if they tell the world, it will descend into chaos and panic.

I always thought how heartbreaking it must have been to fight Cinder. She forcibly stole the powers that originally came from one of his daughters and used it to attack him. It adds another layer to the small glimpse of rare fury we saw from him in that fight
A bit of a cruel joke being played by Salem. She set Cinder on the path to stealing the Fall Maiden's powers fully aware that it would be one of the things that hurt Ozpin the most. It's his own power willingly sacrificed, symbolic of his past with Salem, and perverted from its original purpose of protecting Remnant. The entire sequence is just one big kick in the teeth towards everything he's been standing thousands of years for. Of course he would be furious. One can only hope that eventually the power of the four maidens will lead to Salem's downfall in a sort of poetic justice.
@@madamaonyx8844 The reason Ozpin decided to share his power with the four maidens is because they reminded him of his daughters. The daughters themselves were not the original maidens. At least that's how I understood the old fairytale.
Well think of it like this the maiden before(Amber passed away) and new one came(why you ask?) Cuz now cinder is oz 'daughter' and now 'claiming' her heritage by stealing/killing her 'sisters' power just to hurt dear old 'dad'.
This was so wonderful and emotional, thanks for making this. He's made more mistakes than anyone else, but i daresay he's done more good than anyone else too. He makes mistakes, he's only human after all. Ozma is a true hero in my eyes.
This is my favourite RWBY amv of all time. The music and echos as well as the choices of story points are so perfect. This is the absolute best of RWBY in my opinion and does a better job showing it off than the series.
Ozpin will always be my favorite character alongside Qrow. He's not this "morally grey" character they're trying to make him out to be, and he's certainly not a monster either. He's always given everyone in his circle a choice. With Qrow and Raven, he gave them the option to become birds. He didn't force it onto them. I believe even Qrow himself specified that he chose to be given the ability. Ozpin gave the kids the choice to fight, as well. He wasn't going to guilt them or force them into fighting for him, he wanted them to decide for themselves. Same with Pyrrha, he let her choose her own fate, even though the situation was incredibly dire. He lets them choose because he was never given that choice himself. And after everything, they still pry into his memories with Jin and force him to relive his past. To see Salem turn into a monster, to see his own children die in front of him. To see himself die countless times at the hands of Salem, whether it be directly or indirectly. And they find out that he does not, in fact, have all the answers, i.e. how to defeat Salem. And they have the audacity to turn on him, to think he betrayed them? After making him relive literally all of his trauma, causing him to practically disappear into Oscar's head for I don't know how many episodes? For all of his lives, Ozpin has known so much pain and loss, and the group certainly isn't helping him feel any better. Yes he's made mistakes, but that doesn't make him evil. It doesn't make him a bad person. His heart is good, he's tried his best, and he's still trying. Despite knowing Salem can't be defeated, he's still trying so hard to keep the world safe. It's why (I think, I may be wrong) he started the huntsman academies, or at least had an influence in the creation of them. If Salem can't be beat, then he can at least give humanity the means to defend themselves against her monsters. And plus, if he'd spilled the beans about everything to the whole world, it would've caused a worldwide panic! Grimm are drawn to negative energy, and if that happened, it would've made Salem's job so much easier. Thoughts on Salem as well: she wants to die. That's what I think, anyway. Her curse specifically states that as long as the world still turns, she's forced to walk its face. Therefore, if she destroys the world, she'll finally be able to die. It's an entirely selfish thing, not surprising there, to make everyone suffer because of her actions. Because she can't be killed, I have a feeling the group is going to somehow come up with the means to make an indestructible prison for her. Or, y'know, something like that. Anyways, those are my thoughts. Ozpin needs a hug and a good support network, and Salem needs to go to time out permanently.
Now i appreciate Ozma's struggle. At first i thought like everyone else, but upon looking back i see now that some, not all, secrets were necessary to be kept and he gave team RWBY a choice to help fight in a battle that he has been waging for centuries or not
Salem's story is so sad. All she wanted was to be with the one she loved, and she was willing to fight the gods themselves to be with him again. And for her love and loyalty she was cursed to an unending life of torment and sorrow. And now she is the villain In her own love story. Trying to summon the gods again so they can finally end her pain. A tragic story if there ever was one.
i bet that was the point where he just didnt want to fight Salem anymore, got visited by the 4 girls and decided to give them most of his magic to take his place in the fight. Also, i just saw that 2 of the 4 daughters of him and Salem had silver eyes and the daughters from his other reincarnation also had silver eyes. I dont think thats a coincidence, its probably a sign of his bloodline.
After watching this episode then rewatching this amv I came to a thought, what would have happened if salem was the one to die and ozma was the one to be cursed
Not sure things would turn out the same way honestly. I'm fairly sure Ozma would be heart broken about Salem dying, but he'd probably understand more that death is part of the cycle of life. Even if we may not always like it to be so.
What a legendary beast ! Oh I’m not arguing that he didn’t, I was simply pointing out the real villain of this show should’ve been the two brothers that caused this entire problem by not taking the obvious choice: Kill Salem along with Ozma. Everybody wins. The brothers get to keep their balance, Salem gets her beloved. Ozma doesn’t have to fight his love, (and) Humanity isn’t wiped off the face of the planet. Whatever way you slice it, the brothers are stupid.

We deserved to know the truth. Darth Chaos-I was trying to defend him from experiencing all of his pain. Don't you see what *Turns to Team RWBY* you all did?
How many times has Ozpi- Osma- reincarnated into a host body only to fail again, and again? To build up all of his powers, to fight, fail and die? And his powers are finite. How long can he keep this up? How long until Salem gets what she wants and destroys humanity off the face of the earth...?
But he did not failed. Humanity is still here. Still standing, still thriving, and still making progress despite the non-stop grimm attack. Despite all her power, she could not prevent the four kingdom to rise from the dust. In the end, ruby is right: just because evil can not be defeated does not mean it cant be stopped.
Oz's story is so incredibly tragic. He was a genuine hero: even when given the chance to return to life by a God he would have rather died as long as it meant he could be with Salem. He loved her and he still does, even after several lifetimes. He blames himself for everything that she does. He believes it's his fault, somehow. That maybe things could have been different, if he had just stayed with her. But what's done is done and what's broken can never be the same again. Oz is going to have to kill the woman he loves more than anything. And it's going to kill him. It already does.
I've always been fond of the kind of amv where if you could show it to a character from the source material, they could understand what it conveys. And this one is a pretty good candidate for Ozma's story.
In the fairy tales of Remnant, there's this one story that is just too tragic, and it's almost certainly about Ozma. It's called the Infinite Man, and it would certainly show how Ozma changed over time.
From I point of view the gods are the true villings, because they made have battle each other for years but they never lost anything dear to them they don't know what is to be mortal, let me explaing in other words. Love is the most beautyfull thing in the world it can pring great happiness but it can also come with great danger. Salem wanted to bring back the man she love from the dead, but the gods refuse for the balance of the universe and I ontherstand but their mistake was made her inmortal bcause comon they practily tell her to forget the only happiness she ever knew, no wonder she betray them. Ozpin a great warrior and a great person, but what the gods to him they wake revive him so he can fight for all eternity agains the woman he loves, turning their love to hate. The light god said something about " humanity is worthy of us" but I have a quastion for that god "Are you worthy of humanity" People let not forget that Salem is not only the woman Ozpin loves but the mother of their children Thank you for reading I hope you like it thank you for the video
Some Fans of Rwby and the in show cast complain a lot about Ozma/Ozpin. The cast suffers a lot but I believe Android 16 from TFA's dub said it best; "You act like you're the only one suffering, but I believe Trunks has some stories for you, and I can assume they end with ' * and then he died too * ' " This isn't to take away from their suffering but for a cast of characters and some so ready to help their friends they make a heavy point of casting the blame on Ozma/Ozpin.
I feel bad for ozma hes left with this impossible task of stopping salem they didn't give him any items or any info on how to stop her they just said stop and bring peace back otherwise we'll destroy the world
Not necessarily there is a way to stop her “You MUST learn the importance of Life and Death, only THEN can you rest” just teach her to let go. Also they DID give him tools to complete his quest they gave him reincarnation which would allow him to keep living without breaking the balance of Life and Death and at the same time merging with like minded souls and adding their personalities and Semblances to his AND they gave him THE RELICS! The literal EMBODIMENTS of the four Gifts to humanity!
I love this video. it just puts it all together. salem couldve handled it differently tho ngl, but that would take away a major villain so- yeah. it makes u feel so bad for ozpin. i love oscar he doesnt deserve to be caught up in that mess.
This one goes to both this video as well as anyone saying RWBY is bad. I can agree that volume 5 was boring, and 3 was a stumble. Heck, there are a lot of things people can say about the series to make it bad. But how about this: If you think you'd do a better job at it, then stop putting up hate and prove it. Until then your words have no weight, and may as well be taken by the wind. Each character is unique in their own way, be them the heroes or villains. Ozpin is seen as both, Salem is seen only as a villain. And I saw people saying that their backstory was bad because of that reason; not true. I think it was the feeling of betrayal and the loneliness of the years that made Salem who she is. For her it must have been years, maybe centuries, walking the earth alone. But for Ozpin it was but a moment before he woke up in it. The gods, the world before Remnant, everything was good in my books. Despite timeline loopholes which are an issue the series has, RWBY is still a very popular series and the fact that's still kicking proves that it has support from others who think the same. So before saying that the series is bad, try taking a step back and let stuff sink in a bit. Another issue was Ruby and others being seemingly unfazed by the deaths of Penny and Pyrrha at the end of volume 3, which I do not believe it's true. RJNR were shown to leave on what looked like winter, and I'm pretty sure Ruby woke up in her house when fall was still around, which meant that they might have griefed. But when you know that what happened to you can, no-WILL happen to others, what would you do? There was no need to think twice, but to pick up arms and fight; not only for the living but the death too. Penny was a robot, so she got rebuild, and people said she should have stayed dead. Excuse me, but she is not only a person but a machine as well. One that could, and was fixed. I'm not trying to say anything bad about her, but you get the idea. Adam Taurus being defeated, making the bumblebee ship a thing, Yang not acting like a sister anymore, and so much more to add to the list. But if I am to say one thing, that's the vagueness of the show. Each character is different, they develop differently, and thus end up different from the way they were before. Like hell, Ruby l, despite still being innocent in her way, has become more mature over the course of the show. Blake is more open about herself. Yang is...well, Yang. Her puns are not entirely dead. And Weiss too has changed. Jaune, Ren, Nora, even Qrow. Even if we see it or not, changes happen. I mainly believe that the haters just don't look at it right, or maybe I'm blind myself. But RWBY is still good in my books. Unless they pull a cheesy move like having Salem stop herself and her squad follow with no questions; that'd be lazy writing. In such a case I expect Cinder to just stab her in the back or something. I don't know. Also, Oscar beating up Lionheart and Hazel. Experience tops strength, and Ozpin has a lot of it. Plus, who knows what that cane is made out of. As for the latest volume, Penny being brought back and made the winter maiden is...questionable, but I wouldn't drop hate on it until I see the dev. of the situation. Salem attacking Atlas is something I'm boiling to see actually. Ironwood...oh boy. He's the only one I have a bit of hate right now, and not the kind that goes to the writers. He showed promise as a strong leader, but he, as Cinder said, became too afraid of Salem. Qrow was arrested, but I think he'll break out one way or another. Overall, I give this volume a 8/10. And this AMV gets 9/10. Only think I didn't like was that last part with Oscar. I think having an imagine with Ozpin drinking from his mug with his cane down and looking at the students in his usual expression would've been a better ending. But hey, still an awesome AMV.

In my opinion, the brother gods are the ones to blame. They wanted balance by making Ozma to stay dead. And what do they end up doing to "save" a world that THEY THEMSELVES have abandoned? They brought Ozma back. Something they could have just done in the first place.

But knowing your enemy is freakin' immortal is important to planning. Yes it sucks Ozpin's privacy is violated, but its not something he should've kept secret in the first place. They deserved to know what they're up against.
I know this might sound negative but Ozpin or Ozma should have told others about who is true enemy but of course he did not, other people may think that it was the best idea to keep it hidden from other people. This is why there are many people before and after Ozpin or past Ozpins have met through out his reincarnations. Yet he didn't do it, on Salem's side she was fine on her own, atleast in her view, she may have this curse that keeps her alive, she would have the followers under her whats going on, what she is capable to do, she may manipulate but atleast she speaks the truth. Ozpin hid those secrets, only told only a small portion of members know who he truly is. The cycle will repeat since he plays the same moves, but I don't know what will happen in the near future of RWBY but I say, Light can take the form of darkness and Darkness can take the form of light.
I remember when watching the big backstory episode and being brought to tears. Feeling upset at the two brother gods, but most of all the one of Light & Creation. Feeling remorseful for Selam. Was she right, no. But she wasn't wrong either. My grandmother was watching with me and said "It's true, there has to be a balance. They couldn't bring him back just because of what she went through." I think I surprised her with my response. In the bible, there were many stories that showed how 'merciful' and loving God is. That many times he brings people back from the dead. Jesus himself brings a beloved *friend* back from the dead after he learns he died before he was resurrected. A sick child, that a father was mourning? Brought back from the dead. Honestly, they punished a grieving woman by making her immortal. All she did at the point she became immortal was ask *both* brothers. And lash out when one did it but changed his mind because the other brother had to be a tattletale. >.> What should they have done? Instead of making her immortal until she "learns the value of the circle of life", was...I don't know. The brother of light, taking her under his wing? Become a friend of comfort? She literally became the old hermit. But without anyone coming to comfort her, and wishing she were dead. *Trying* to kill herself. She became bitter, resentful, and numb. And in the end, what did the light guy do? Bring. Him. Back. AFTER she was reincarnated into a grim embodiment. Well done. I swear if they have a Father god daddy...I hope he smacked a v8 into their foreheads. >.>
I hate so much Cinder. She thinks she is the most powerful creature of the whole world but I think Ozpin could defeat her because she's not as strong as she thinks or anyone think.
Cinder is a hypocrite. She seems to be a product of her upbringing, and her upbringing seems to suck. She believes that she is for some reason worthy of power, and no one else is. She was originally a shadowy figure in control of the Fall of Beacon, but as she fell out of control, she became more bratty and arrogant and selfish. The writers made her an extremely hateful and hateble character, so that her eventual fall (haha I made a pun) will be spectacular.

He used the powers of the Gods of darkness and light to rejoin Salem even though that wasn't why they gave it to him, it was for him to help humanity stop fighting with themselves. Yet he used it for his own greed.
He made the mistake of not telling his followers of the truth of Salem and his connections with her and of her true power of not being beatable because now he's lost their loyalty even Qrow has turned his back on Ozpin the one man who found Ozpin like a father for giving his life purpose.
He made the mistake of putting the weight on Pyrra of becoming the fall maiden and letting her have to think of fully going through with it which cause it leading to them being to late because of the invasion of Beacon and possibly much more that I haven't mentioned.

Honestly, I don't understand why people see Ozpin as a sort of villain now, both in Rmeanent and by the viewers of RWBY. He never actually lied about anything, he left a lot of information out for sure, but to be fair no one ever asked him if Salem could be destroyed or asked about his long term strategy. When you consider it was revealed Ozpin was the old man who granted the Maidens their powers so long ago that it had become a legend/children's tale, which he openly shared with everyone, it kinda implies he has been around for thousands of years. Did they think he was just chilling that whole time, or battling to save Remanent? If he has been fighting for thousands of years and still hasn't achieved victory, did Team RWBY really think this was going to be an easy battle?
Even then, he didn't actively try to recruit them either. Cinder and the White Fang attacked Beacon and Salem's orders, and Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Blake, Jaune, Ren and Nora all went after Cinder or the White Fang willingly. They themselves drew the attention of Salem as potential threats. They signed up to help people and to fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves. When it was clear Salem had noticed them, including Ruby, only then did Qrow fill them in on the details. Ozpin didn't trick them into anything. He never promised them anything.
And finally, even if he had been upfront about Salem's immortality, so what? Really, so what? Was Team RWBY just going to disband and quit because there is no point anymore? If so, they should never have chosen to become Huntresses. Evil has and will always continue to exist in any world where there are human life, knowledge and choice to destroy or create. It has always been a never-ending battle. So what if Salem is immortal, it changes nothing. Evil will always exist in one form or the other. In this case, it is in the form of Salem. Even if you are only delaying her or sabotaging her schemes, it is still saving lives. If the best you can hope for is to battle Salem into a stalemate, then so be it. At least Remnant and it's people live to see another day. At least hope still exists.
Ozpin understood this better than anyone. If anyone has reason to give up, it's Ozpin. He has lost the love of his life, not to death but something far worse. His wife then proceeded to murder their children and himself. He has died countless times for thousands of years in pursuit of completing a mission given to him by the God of Light that is almost downright impossible, all in the hopes that one-day Remnant will have a brighter future. Yang lost an arm, so what? Ozpin was incinerated, more than once. He has kept the beacon of hope alive despite no end to his suffering being in sight. He gave up peace in the Afterlife, in servitude of Remnant. Ozpin is the real hero of Remnant, the hero they don't deserve.

Ozpin doesn’t deserve the hate, and being called evil, he just needs help.
He gave them a choice to join and help or leave. They chose to join, and their mad at him. He said he’s made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child and he meant it. He fell in love, he died, was brought back, died again, was brought back in a reincarnation, fell in love again with the same person, had a family, was happy, person and him had a fall out, and their family crumbled.
He’s seen things, grown attached to people, been betrayed, hurt, and all these things have changed him. To an extent where he doesn’t know who’s loyal, who’s lying, who’s plotting, he’s numb. He’s stopped growing connections. And this group of kids isn’t being helpful.
Weiss he can trust her she hasn’t done anything to be untrustworthy.
Blake runs when times get tuff
Ruby is too innocent, but can be naive, and her trust is easily gained, and she tries to find the light in everyone’s darkness(good but bad sometimes)
Yang is a bargirl who is untrusting, easily angered, difficult, scarred, and has issues.
Qrow is a living and walking bad luck charm who is mad for not being told a backstory.
And an old lady who has seen a lot and has been through a lot too.
Oscar is the important character who is like a background character.
Ozpin is a sad lonely guy who doesn’t deserve to become evil or the bad guy. He deserves peace and his final resting hour. No more reincarnations becuz it’s hurting him mentally. Making him untrusted and sad. He’s an amazing character who deserves more than he’s given. So let’s stop making him the bad guy. And feel for him, he’s been through a lot, seen a lot, and deserves a lot. All the things he’s did that are bad aren’t justified but take time and really look at his life before RWBY and things.

Ozpin's story is the real story of RWBY. He's the real hero of the story. Everyone else is a child in this world, even the adults. He is a man given an impossible task to struggle with for eternity. A man who gets up again and again and again to hope, struggle, fail, die, and hope again. What others can do by violence, he must do by persuasion. What others can destroy in an careless instant, he has to build with care and patience for decades. It is a struggle against men, monsters, and Gods. The rest of the story is nice, but it's Ozpin's story that adds real depth to RWBY and it will be Ozpin's story that concludes with the series. And he's losing. It's been falling apart since the first season.
Thanks for making this video. It captures his battle well. I'm glad someone else can see him as I see him and appreciate the depth of this story. I can't see a good way for this to end for Ozpin, but he deserves it more than anyone. He's the best of the best in every way.

I never understand why the "group" hated him so much. He is the equivalent of a living, walking hero from a fairy tail. How do they feel "betrayed" that Ozpin chooses to keep his possibly traumatic backstory private? Betrayed would be learning that Ozpin was working for Salem the whole time or something, not "I don't actually have a way to defeat Salem." And oh wow, Ozpin isn't the know-it-all they thought he was... except he literally told them that he made more mistakes than anyone.
The fact that every single one of RWBY and JNR sees him as pure evil feels so awkward especially since he hasn't really done anything wrong or rather evil up to this point, except turning 2 people into birds???

a sad story of a man whose only sin was in love and a woman who whole world was the man who freed her from her lonely fate.
at the end of the day they were only both human. when even the gods are falable how could they be expected to do and better.
i pity salem for the villian she became who could never accept her own fault in her fate. and i respect Ozma for even now not merely giving up after all he's been forced to endure. after all its a common tale for the hero to become a villian and yet even after everything Ozpin my have become jaded but never evil.
Based on eruption Fang's breakdown of this episode, ozma is good and ozpin isn't and i agree. The world was doomed the moment ozma left Salem, he could have changed her, he should have tried. Ozpin keeps withholding truth from everyone so no one wants to fight with him. There is no evil. Eruptionfang claims that Salem simply wants to die, to be freed of the curse or to kill the gods. Ozpin wants to get rid of salem because he knows the world isn't worthy. I do like ozpin and how complex he is, the problem I find with ozpin is he knows he can beat Salem persay and he should have told people the truth, knowledge and choice is needed for the gods to think the world is worthy, but he gives them neither. I do understand the hate he gets but I like him as a character despite how hyprocritical he can be.
I feel so bad for ozma. Damn has he had hard times.
Salem is immortal, and thus eternal. She has now grown to control the Grimm, to control the negative aspects of humanity, and uses those aspects to bring about people into her cause, and spread the negativity so that she can destroy society with all her might. It functions with how evil is a constant presence that always lurks within humans, and that you can fight it, but you can never destroy it. Humans can fight Salem, but they can never truly win and be rid of her forever.
Ozpin, on the other hand, is someone that constantly reincarnates, and thus is not constantly active. He has to constantly start over a life with each incarnation. He doesn't live continuously like Salem, which shows the limitations of man. He fights against Salem, builds and creates society for humans to grow and evolve, but he is never any closer to defeating her because she is unwinnable. This shows how Ozpin is the eternal struggle against evil. Just because you can never truly destroy evil entirely doesn't mean you have to give in.
The fact that Ozpin never stops in his belief that humanity can achieve salvation is proof that he has the true heart of a hero and a good man. He struggles with doing the right thing and has to accept the many wrong decisions he has made, and even when they come back to bite him he refuses to give up.
Everyone talks about “Ozpin” which we know his name is Ozma now. But I would really like to know what personality the REAL Ozpin had.

Ozma had lived so many lives and he has seen so much death sorrow and betrayal. He has fought his beloved so manybtimes that is logical that he hide so many secrets
I could understand why some people wanted Ozpin back, especially Ironwood. He's been on Remnant for a very long time and he's very wise. Plus, he just radiates calm and stability. I don't think he would lie easily. He had good reason. He didn't want the world to descend into chaos and panic. I'm still worried that if they tell the world, it will descend into chaos and panic.

I always thought how heartbreaking it must have been to fight Cinder. She forcibly stole the powers that originally came from one of his daughters and used it to attack him. It adds another layer to the small glimpse of rare fury we saw from him in that fight
A bit of a cruel joke being played by Salem. She set Cinder on the path to stealing the Fall Maiden's powers fully aware that it would be one of the things that hurt Ozpin the most. It's his own power willingly sacrificed, symbolic of his past with Salem, and perverted from its original purpose of protecting Remnant. The entire sequence is just one big kick in the teeth towards everything he's been standing thousands of years for. Of course he would be furious. One can only hope that eventually the power of the four maidens will lead to Salem's downfall in a sort of poetic justice.
It was never proven that the powers came from his daughters though.

This is my favourite RWBY amv of all time. The music and echos as well as the choices of story points are so perfect. This is the absolute best of RWBY in my opinion and does a better job showing it off than the series.
I'd like to imagine he asks "Do you know who I am?" to everyone hoping one day somehow someone will say something other than "Ozpin"
Ozpin will always be my favorite character alongside Qrow. He's not this "morally grey" character they're trying to make him out to be, and he's certainly not a monster either. He's always given everyone in his circle a choice. With Qrow and Raven, he gave them the option to become birds. He didn't force it onto them. I believe even Qrow himself specified that he chose to be given the ability. Ozpin gave the kids the choice to fight, as well. He wasn't going to guilt them or force them into fighting for him, he wanted them to decide for themselves. Same with Pyrrha, he let her choose her own fate, even though the situation was incredibly dire. He lets them choose because he was never given that choice himself.
And after everything, they still pry into his memories with Jin and force him to relive his past. To see Salem turn into a monster, to see his own children die in front of him. To see himself die countless times at the hands of Salem, whether it be directly or indirectly. And they find out that he does not, in fact, have all the answers, i.e. how to defeat Salem. And they have the audacity to turn on him, to think he betrayed them? After making him relive literally all of his trauma, causing him to practically disappear into Oscar's head for I don't know how many episodes? For all of his lives, Ozpin has known so much pain and loss, and the group certainly isn't helping him feel any better.
Yes he's made mistakes, but that doesn't make him evil. It doesn't make him a bad person. His heart is good, he's tried his best, and he's still trying. Despite knowing Salem can't be defeated, he's still trying so hard to keep the world safe. It's why (I think, I may be wrong) he started the huntsman academies, or at least had an influence in the creation of them. If Salem can't be beat, then he can at least give humanity the means to defend themselves against her monsters. And plus, if he'd spilled the beans about everything to the whole world, it would've caused a worldwide panic! Grimm are drawn to negative energy, and if that happened, it would've made Salem's job so much easier.
Thoughts on Salem as well: she wants to die. That's what I think, anyway. Her curse specifically states that as long as the world still turns, she's forced to walk its face. Therefore, if she destroys the world, she'll finally be able to die. It's an entirely selfish thing, not surprising there, to make everyone suffer because of her actions. Because she can't be killed, I have a feeling the group is going to somehow come up with the means to make an indestructible prison for her. Or, y'know, something like that.
Anyways, those are my thoughts. Ozpin needs a hug and a good support network, and Salem needs to go to time out permanently.

Now i appreciate Ozma's struggle. At first i thought like everyone else, but upon looking back i see now that some, not all, secrets were necessary to be kept and he gave team RWBY a choice to help fight in a battle that he has been waging for centuries or not
Salem's story is so sad. All she wanted was to be with the one she loved, and she was willing to fight the gods themselves to be with him again.
And for her love and loyalty she was cursed to an unending life of torment and sorrow.
And now she is the villain In her own love story. Trying to summon the gods again so they can finally end her pain.
A tragic story if there ever was one.

i bet that was the point where he just didnt want to fight Salem anymore, got visited by the 4 girls and decided to give them most of his magic to take his place in the fight. Also, i just saw that 2 of the 4 daughters of him and Salem had silver eyes and the daughters from his other reincarnation also had silver eyes. I dont think thats a coincidence, its probably a sign of his bloodline.

Not sure things would turn out the same way honestly. I'm fairly sure Ozma would be heart broken about Salem dying, but he'd probably understand more that death is part of the cycle of life. Even if we may not always like it to be so.

Oh I’m not arguing that he didn’t, I was simply pointing out the real villain of this show should’ve been the two brothers that caused this entire problem by not taking the obvious choice:
Kill Salem along with Ozma. Everybody wins. The brothers get to keep their balance, Salem gets her beloved. Ozma doesn’t have to fight his love, (and) Humanity isn’t wiped off the face of the planet.
Whatever way you slice it, the brothers are stupid.

This is such good inspiration for writing RWBY. You need more subs.
How many times has Ozpi- Osma- reincarnated into a host body only to fail again, and again? To build up all of his powers, to fight, fail and die? And his powers are finite. How long can he keep this up? How long until Salem gets what she wants and destroys humanity off the face of the earth...?
But he did not failed. Humanity is still here. Still standing, still thriving, and still making progress despite the non-stop grimm attack. Despite all her power, she could not prevent the four kingdom to rise from the dust. In the end, ruby is right: just because evil can not be defeated does not mean it cant be stopped.
Oz's story is so incredibly tragic.
He was a genuine hero: even when given the chance to return to life by a God he would have rather died as long as it meant he could be with Salem. He loved her and he still does, even after several lifetimes.
He blames himself for everything that she does. He believes it's his fault, somehow. That maybe things could have been different, if he had just stayed with her.
But what's done is done and what's broken can never be the same again.
Oz is going to have to kill the woman he loves more than anything. And it's going to kill him. It already does.
I know its not supposed to be a trailer for the show but it is so good.

I've always been fond of the kind of amv where if you could show it to a character from the source material, they could understand what it conveys. And this one is a pretty good candidate for Ozma's story.

In the fairy tales of Remnant, there's this one story that is just too tragic, and it's almost certainly about Ozma. It's called the Infinite Man, and it would certainly show how Ozma changed over time.
From I point of view the gods are the true villings, because they made have battle each other for years but they never lost anything dear to them they don't know what is to be mortal, let me explaing in other words.
Love is the most beautyfull thing in the world it can pring great happiness but it can also come with great danger.
Salem wanted to bring back the man she love from the dead, but the gods refuse for the balance of the universe and I ontherstand but their mistake was made her inmortal bcause comon they practily tell her to forget the only happiness she ever knew, no wonder she betray them.
Ozpin a great warrior and a great person, but what the gods to him they wake revive him so he can fight for all eternity agains the woman he loves, turning their love to hate.
The light god said something about " humanity is worthy of us" but I have a quastion for that god "Are you worthy of humanity"
People let not forget that Salem is not only the woman Ozpin loves but the mother of their children

Some Fans of Rwby and the in show cast complain a lot about Ozma/Ozpin.
The cast suffers a lot but I believe Android 16 from TFA's dub said it best; "You act like you're the only one suffering, but I believe Trunks has some stories for you, and I can assume they end with ' * and then he died too * ' "
This isn't to take away from their suffering but for a cast of characters and some so ready to help their friends they make a heavy point of casting the blame on Ozma/Ozpin.

Not necessarily there is a way to stop her “You MUST learn the importance of Life and Death, only THEN can you rest” just teach her to let go. Also they DID give him tools to complete his quest they gave him reincarnation which would allow him to keep living without breaking the balance of Life and Death and at the same time merging with like minded souls and adding their personalities and Semblances to his AND they gave him THE RELICS! The literal EMBODIMENTS of the four Gifts to humanity!

This one goes to both this video as well as anyone saying RWBY is bad. I can agree that volume 5 was boring, and 3 was a stumble. Heck, there are a lot of things people can say about the series to make it bad. But how about this: If you think you'd do a better job at it, then stop putting up hate and prove it. Until then your words have no weight, and may as well be taken by the wind.
Each character is unique in their own way, be them the heroes or villains. Ozpin is seen as both, Salem is seen only as a villain. And I saw people saying that their backstory was bad because of that reason; not true. I think it was the feeling of betrayal and the loneliness of the years that made Salem who she is. For her it must have been years, maybe centuries, walking the earth alone. But for Ozpin it was but a moment before he woke up in it. The gods, the world before Remnant, everything was good in my books. Despite timeline loopholes which are an issue the series has, RWBY is still a very popular series and the fact that's still kicking proves that it has support from others who think the same.
So before saying that the series is bad, try taking a step back and let stuff sink in a bit.
Another issue was Ruby and others being seemingly unfazed by the deaths of Penny and Pyrrha at the end of volume 3, which I do not believe it's true. RJNR were shown to leave on what looked like winter, and I'm pretty sure Ruby woke up in her house when fall was still around, which meant that they might have griefed. But when you know that what happened to you can, no-WILL happen to others, what would you do? There was no need to think twice, but to pick up arms and fight; not only for the living but the death too.
Penny was a robot, so she got rebuild, and people said she should have stayed dead. Excuse me, but she is not only a person but a machine as well. One that could, and was fixed. I'm not trying to say anything bad about her, but you get the idea.
Adam Taurus being defeated, making the bumblebee ship a thing, Yang not acting like a sister anymore, and so much more to add to the list.
But if I am to say one thing, that's the vagueness of the show. Each character is different, they develop differently, and thus end up different from the way they were before. Like hell, Ruby l, despite still being innocent in her way, has become more mature over the course of the show. Blake is more open about herself. Yang is...well, Yang. Her puns are not entirely dead. And Weiss too has changed. Jaune, Ren, Nora, even Qrow. Even if we see it or not, changes happen. I mainly believe that the haters just don't look at it right, or maybe I'm blind myself. But RWBY is still good in my books. Unless they pull a cheesy move like having Salem stop herself and her squad follow with no questions; that'd be lazy writing. In such a case I expect Cinder to just stab her in the back or something. I don't know.
Also, Oscar beating up Lionheart and Hazel. Experience tops strength, and Ozpin has a lot of it. Plus, who knows what that cane is made out of.
As for the latest volume, Penny being brought back and made the winter maiden is...questionable, but I wouldn't drop hate on it until I see the dev. of the situation. Salem attacking Atlas is something I'm boiling to see actually. Ironwood...oh boy. He's the only one I have a bit of hate right now, and not the kind that goes to the writers. He showed promise as a strong leader, but he, as Cinder said, became too afraid of Salem.
Qrow was arrested, but I think he'll break out one way or another.
Overall, I give this volume a 8/10.
And this AMV gets 9/10. Only think I didn't like was that last part with Oscar. I think having an imagine with Ozpin drinking from his mug with his cane down and looking at the students in his usual expression would've been a better ending.
But hey, still an awesome AMV.

In my opinion, the brother gods are the ones to blame. They wanted balance by making Ozma to stay dead. And what do they end up doing to "save" a world that THEY THEMSELVES have abandoned? They brought Ozma back. Something they could have just done in the first place.

Weiss said she was practicing time dilation in season 3, Ruby's semblance is a speed semblance that's not a speed semblance, and Jaune can enhance semblances. Idk. But knowing your enemy is freakin' immortal is important to planning. Yes it sucks Ozpin's privacy is violated, but its not something he should've kept secret in the first place. They deserved to know what they're up against.
I blame the gods
I know this might sound negative but Ozpin or Ozma should have told others about who is true enemy but of course he did not, other people may think that it was the best idea to keep it hidden from other people. This is why there are many people before and after Ozpin or past Ozpins have met through out his reincarnations. Yet he didn't do it, on Salem's side she was fine on her own, atleast in her view, she may have this curse that keeps her alive, she would have the followers under her whats going on, what she is capable to do, she may manipulate but atleast she speaks the truth. Ozpin hid those secrets, only told only a small portion of members know who he truly is. The cycle will repeat since he plays the same moves, but I don't know what will happen in the near future of RWBY but I say, Light can take the form of darkness and Darkness can take the form of light.

Feeling upset at the two brother gods, but most of all the one of Light & Creation.
Feeling remorseful for Selam. Was she right, no. But she wasn't wrong either.
My grandmother was watching with me and said "It's true, there has to be a balance. They couldn't bring him back just because of what she went through."
I think I surprised her with my response. In the bible, there were many stories that showed how 'merciful' and loving God is. That many times he brings people back from the dead. Jesus himself brings a beloved *friend* back from the dead after he learns he died before he was resurrected. A sick child, that a father was mourning? Brought back from the dead.
Honestly, they punished a grieving woman by making her immortal. All she did at the point she became immortal was ask *both* brothers. And lash out when one did it but changed his mind because the other brother had to be a tattletale. >.> What should they have done? Instead of making her immortal until she "learns the value of the circle of life", was...I don't know. The brother of light, taking her under his wing? Become a friend of comfort? She literally became the old hermit. But without anyone coming to comfort her, and wishing she were dead. *Trying* to kill herself.
She became bitter, resentful, and numb.
And in the end, what did the light guy do? Bring. Him. Back.
AFTER she was reincarnated into a grim embodiment. Well done.

I hate so much Cinder. She thinks she is the most powerful creature of the whole world but I think Ozpin could defeat her because she's not as strong as she thinks or anyone think.
Cinder is a hypocrite. She seems to be a product of her upbringing, and her upbringing seems to suck. She believes that she is for some reason worthy of power, and no one else is. She was originally a shadowy figure in control of the Fall of Beacon, but as she fell out of control, she became more bratty and arrogant and selfish. The writers made her an extremely hateful and hateble character, so that her eventual fall (haha I made a pun) will be spectacular.
