Brotherman ... Thank you kindly for putting out these tutorials. Changed my life during these crazy times. My fingers are calloused and beaten down to the quick, but my spirits and ukulele skills are on the rise. Cheers. I love the JC and chunky uke stuff. Keep on keeping on. :)
Have to say I have watched a few of your videos and for a complete newbie to the Uke you have a very special gift at teaching. Thank you so much for sharing your skill and making the Uke so much fun to play
I've been practicing this strum for a couple of days now...its starting to come together. I've left out the flick- its just too much for me! Thanks for posting this funky strum.
Hi Fesal, glad you're enjoying this strum & video lesson. The flick is just some extra spice you can add or leave out of the strum ;) I have a video on the "flick" if you watch that it may help to learn that technique...it takes a while for the fingers to extend independently, but stick with it... All the best, Stu
Thanks Ruby rock… Maybe someday you’ll be able to come to one of my workshops in person. Thanks for watching and hope your subscribe for more videos and lessons :)
I absolutely enjoyed this video... I am a beginner (for months now LOL... I still need a lot of practice), but I kinda got the hang of your the chords and through your other videos I learned chuncking and flicking

Stu! I'm so grateful to have found you. Your teaching style is exactly what I needed to start playing again after dealing with tendinitis. Can you suggest some other songs that can be played with this strum?
That’s great Chris! Glad you’re going to have a uke of your own… Come back here anytime my channel has lots of new lessons and free stuff on my website too 😊🎶
I eventually figured out the chorus but forgot to mention it, it's just the second half of the first verse - Fmaj, Cmaj, Dmin and E7. Thanks again for the nice tutorial!
I couldn't help but smile while watching your video, you look so happy and relaxed! Thank you for this video (but I will never be able to play like you!)

Hey Stuart. I love the tutorial and even though i'm a very inept beginner i've pretty much nailed it. The funky strum is brilliant. Is there any chance that you could show me the way to the rest of the song? Thanks man.

Great stuff Mate. Can't believe how funky you make a uke sound! I have subscribed and I'm loving it. Struggling with this strumming pattern though.... when you first play through the song are you strumming- flick,up,down.up,chuck,up,down,up???? Just finding it really difficult to pick up the rhythm to this strumming pattern..... any advice??
The tune I'm playing is "Hotel California" in the key of Am (friendlier for the uke). For leanringthe rhythm - try scatting it - mimic it with your voice & then try playing the same sound you made w your voice. "If you can say it, you can play it" :) Happy playing, Stu

I'm a little confused on the strumming pattern. It looks as though in the first half of the video the second strum is on the down stroke, but then in the breakdown and sped up version the second strum is on the up stroke. Is there some variation going on?
+DtotheORdoubleEen Exactly - you can play it both ways :) The purpose of this lesson is to offer a definite set pattern for a strum, but by all means change it up a little bit. The 2nd variation you were noticing is when the up stroke would come on the "and" of beat 2. Keep on making your own variations...feel them in the moment & allow them to flow. You can always write them down later...but getting into the feel is most important. Hope this helps. Peace.

Hi Stu. What is a good entry level Ukulele for an adult? Thanks
Depends on what size you’re interested in. Kala, Ohana & Oscar Schmidt are good entry level ukes - good luck.
Thanks, I am thinking of starting with a Tenor or concert but would like some advice on that, I have big hands does it make a difference ?
If your hands are bigger, I'd go with tenor. Try both in a store if you can...like a shoe...it's gotta fit :)
what are the chords for the chorus?
