Very nice build. These are really nice sport/race quads & hard to find . Too bad Kawi only made it a few short yrs .. had so much potential. We still have the incredible YFZ450R brand new on showroom floor thankfully.
This is one of our favorite machines that we ever built. Love the color, love the machine. It's too bad Kawasaki didn't update it and keep it in the lineup.
I been following this build for my bike and it's so far great I did elka stage 5s all the way around though And lonestar +2aarms +4 axle But used the fuel customs intake and the hmf exhaust and programmer 15 tooth sprocket This bike runs.. No bike is cheap New and being competitive isn't either.. U can go buy a 2014 yfz450 put a pipe and programmer on it and loose to a 2014 kfx450r with a pipe and programmer Buy what u like. But I've made plenty of Honda Yamaha n Suzuki 450s mad..
Okay okay so it wasn't really exactly a budget build although we did not even touch the engine. If you're going to build a KFX for the track you're going to have to get aftermarket suspension there's really no way around it
The one thing we thought about doing different was changing the yellow to more of a blue to match the green and blue theme Kawasaki uses a lot. Not matter the color, the graphic design just flows well with the lines of the machine.
Rebel Devil like the TRX450R, the KFX 450R takes quite a bit of work to get it race ready. Consider the fact that we didn't even go into the motor. if Kawasaki had made this machine 50 inches wide, had a better intake, different front and Caster settings, and a few other small changes making it race ready would have cost weigh less.
nice review fellas..wasnt sure if the kawasaki was a Kawasaki..I knew a few years back Suzuki bought them out from what I heard..my son's ltz and his buddies kfx 400 are exactly the same in all ways..
We never calculated the machine's exact top speed, however it was geared down just a bit from stock. We could have easily pulled taller gearing then stock, with improved acceleration. Nothing wrong with a joke. Thanks for watching.
maybe cuz I'm old i be 47 next month for racing i like 2 strokes like a Banshee or Honda 250R FourTrax . back in the 80's i got them brand new from the dealer... new 1986 Honda 250R FourTrax was like $2000 and 1988 Yamaha Banshee was like $3000 if i remember right.. believe or not i still own them 4wheelers still runs like when i got them brand new ..i spend a lot of money to keep them running over the years.. trail raiding always like Honda 250R FourTrax over Yamaha Banshee .. not saying Yamaha Banshee is a bad 4wheeler to me seem like Honda 250R FourTrax is a better 4wheeler on the trails . i think Yamaha Banshee is to fast for trail riding.. well most trails that is
The Banshee will never handle as well in rough turns so on a track the modern machines have an advantage. As motor goes, yes, A Banshee with some mild motor work Pipes, porting, head mod, reeds, and rejetted carbs can produce around 60hp. You would have to build a pretty radical 450 to produce that much power. The modern four strokes are easier to ride fast and no amount of money will make a Banshee run like a four stroke. I used to one a nice Banshee. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to hit me back.
ATVonDemand I agree with everything you stated. If the banshee had a wider wheelbase it would handle better. I will always be a 2 stroker but 4 strokes are so much more user friendly. This Kawasaki is NICE
maybe cuz I'm old i be 47 next month for racing i like 2 strokes like a Banshee or Honda 250R FourTrax . back in the 80's i got them brand from the dealer... new Honda 250R FourTrax was like $2000 and 1988 Yamaha Banshee was like $3000 if i remember right.. believe or not i still owned them 4wheelers still runs like when i buy them brand new ..i spend a lot of money to keep them running over the years
hey ATVonDemand I have a 2008 400ex and I was wondering about the hmf competition exhaust like you have on this model. I am aware that the exhaust has 3 different inserts to control the sound, however, to my knowledge this would also change the jetting required for the atv. I needed to know if you would have to jet it for a certain stage or if you can put in the recommended slip on jet ( I am wanting the slip on) in there. Thanks!
I just got a yfz 450r and am looking to buy a slip on I’m not sure if I would need a fuel controller or not I just want to be sure so it’s not running lean ,what do you think would be the best option for me?
Sb L81 congratulations on the new machine. Welcome to the family. Yamaha told us a while back that you can run the yfz450r with an aftermarket exhaust without having to switch out the fuel controller. We tried it and it ran like crap off the bottom. It was difficult to take advantage of the horsepower gains from the exhaust because we needed to keep the air box lid on to keep the bike running halfway decent. We would definitely recommend getting the controller. You will be glad if you do.
Jason Williams newer 2014 and up yfz 450r don’t run very good out of the factory most people spend another 1200 on a Aftermarket ECU,exhaust and intake
well it's not exactly what you want, we are working on a big build on a 2004 / 2005 model. meaning of the mods and vendors will carry over to the 06 plus model.
+ThatBeverlyHillBilly02 Here's a 400EX build th-cam.com/video/4Oohnr9yI-I/w-d-xo.html. We have a Z400 build we promised to re upload for another viewer. Click subscribe so you'll know when we get it done.
i have an 09 kfx 450r and when i try to open it up in 4th and 5th gear i cant go full throttle, well i can but it wont give me any response. what should i do. i just replaced the fuel pump and just got and whole new rear end, axle bearings etc. please help
+Wyatt Cornish What issue are you having? We had an issue with flare-outs at low RPMs when we chopped the throttle heading into corners. We Tune the stage 1 setting until it idled smoothly and had no further issues with it. We left the other settings alone.
ORR!!... Spend under 10k and get the new 2015 YFZ 450R and Right Out Of The Box have a Race Bike, then if you want Add Full Exhaust and Power Commander and for another 5 -600 bucks and you have a Full Race Bike for under 11k =) Ur Welcome
Been there done that, and it still sucked. No bottom end what so ever. 2017 yfz450r se, full 4.1 FMF and vortex ecu. Like the DS450 it needs a different cam to help out. Sold it and going back to KTM.
gotta pay big money to run with the big dogs bro..its best to let someone else pay the price tag and buy their race bike at the end of the year for half that..
No motor mods other than bolt-ons made it budget. You cant make a 46 inch wide machine race ready for $1000. Race legal sure, but not competitive. Starting off with a YFZR or LTR would be less expensive, very true.
if i was a pro racer witch i plan to be when i get my kfx i understand you completely but consider buying an old car and restoring it along with adding state of the art parts and oil changes and just gas plain old gas money you pay almost over 18000 a year along with car insurance you pay almost 150,000 a year so the coast may be expensive to me and you but for someone who will race the money back its maybe just a little over budget therefore being in budget range
Felicidades despues de gastarse 9000$ en la quad, y unos 7000, aprox en modificaciones, tienes una moto que rinde igual a una trx, pero que no puede con un raptor 7000 o un banshee
Just bought a pre-owned 450r, thanks for the shopping list!
Congratulations and glad to help.
That is one sick Kawasaki man. Nice work

Love that Kawi green. That after look is one badass quad

Did a awesome job on the build! I watch your videos for great advice on my quads
Much thanks. A lot of time, research, and filming go into them.We greatly appreciate you watching.

Pics of the build?
This is a budget build guys. *Proceeds to spend 1600$ on front shocks*🤣
Okay okay so it wasn't really exactly a budget build although we did not even touch the engine. If you're going to build a KFX for the track you're going to have to get aftermarket suspension there's really no way around it
@@ATVonDemand understood just a joke cuz I'm poor😂
Those are premium front & rear shocks for sure! Be my 1st choice if had extra bucks. Fox & Elka stage 2 or 3 are cheaper I think.
Now nice ones are3-4k 😂
Nice build. the Kawie is a pretty under-appreciated quad.
The one thing we thought about doing different was changing the yellow to more of a blue to match the green and blue theme Kawasaki uses a lot. Not matter the color, the graphic design just flows well with the lines of the machine.
Nice seeing something different
Glad you enjoyed it.
F N beast of a bike . i cant wait to get one , its the only 450 i like after racing a trx250r all my life
Accidentally clicked on this video, and just could not exit out (:
+Mr.Steal Yo Rancher We hope that is a good thing.
ATVonDemand It is, I am so jealous of this four wheeler!!!!
These guys put over 10k in a quad for racing as a privateer. That is crazy
@@ATVonDemand * way less.
My Thing is why Kawasaki hasn't fixed the a arm and suspension issues for 2014. Cause God knows its the best looking KFX to date! I gotta have it!
The next MX build should be a Trx450 since its a trail bike.. A lot of people would really enjoy that..!
We are looking into building a 450R this spring.
Sweet ride dude
"under-appreciated" Agreed!
nice review fellas..wasnt sure if the kawasaki was a Kawasaki..I knew a few years back Suzuki bought them out from what I heard..my son's ltz and his buddies kfx 400 are exactly the same in all ways..

great video . You guys thinking about doing 1 for the can-am ds 450 anytime soon ?
Yes please do the 450r..! It will be best if you guys do the 04-05 it seems that it would be a more interesting mx build than the newer ones.

Im thinking about buying a kfx450 but dont want to spend over the top trying to get a race ready quad.
Do you guys think the yamaha banshee with some mild work could compete with these 4 strokes today?

So after some research the a arms aren't available for the kfx 450r anymore :(
Seen in the comments you reply saying they don’t make these anymore. Is it hard to find parts for them?

that its a real quad !
I have a 07 yfz450, I think most of these parts would carry over. How much did all these upgrades cost?
or you can just go buy a new YFZ450R or a used LT450R and be done with it
Jason Williams newer 2014 and up yfz 450r don’t run very good out of the factory most people spend another 1200 on a Aftermarket ECU,exhaust and intake
Sb 197 yep bought a 18 and was pissed. It would stall while riding and moving, was so lean out of the factory. It sucked
@@tylerhill4328 that is just the name of the game. It's either lean sport quads or no sport quads
ya got a 19 same problem! exhaust a pc5 changed that though!
also have a 06 ltr450 and i love it one of the best quads i have ridden
do a raptor 660 because they are top.heavy and need alot of work for a track rider
I'm looking to do a full race motor for mine
Congratulations u got it to pull like a trx now lol
Brendon Lewis lol trueee I love my built Trx
i have a black kfx 450 and was looking into the g4 phoenix graphics would it look better with a black background or the Kawasaki green?
And does that hmf fuel optomizer increase horsepower ?
Can you do a Yamaha banshee or Suzuki lt500 quads.
you should do a blaster review
We would like to do one of them as part of our Classics vintage series.
Will it stand up with the new yfz 450r's
I wish you guys would do a 2005 or 2006+ TRX 450 R motocross build
