- The last episode of the Ghosts of the Frank series. From Sleeping Deer Mountain to Challis. Giardia has set in and I am hiking sick, close to home but still days away. The road is too high to get water from the streams so melting snow is the only option. Long days, slogging along to get out of the Frank Church Wilderness and into civilization.
This series is dedicated to my dad, I love his final message in this video. Big thanks to all who participated in this series.
Ghosts of the Frank is a 5 episode docuseries created by Dan Noakes which highlights Noakes' solo winter ski traverse across the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho while also exploring the drama of the people who once lived, worked, and died there.
Ghosts of the Frank takes viewers on an emotional experience as Dan Noakes goes beyond skiing by examining the controversy of the Forest Service’s efforts of burning down cabins as it acquired private land in the name of preservation. It leaves the audience to answer for themselves if the mainstream Wilderness narrative has silenced the whisperings of the ghosts that still roam in the Frank Church today.

Epic adventure Dan - thanks for producing this series!! Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for this Winter.
Thanks Greg. I appreciate that.
SPECTACULAR adventure Dan! And INCREDIBLE filmmaking! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing and for all the inspiration.
Thanks so much. I appreciate that. Looks like you had a good hiking year. I enjoy watching your videos
So awesome!! Loved how you put this all together! Loved what your dad said about you! He's proud of you! Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate your comment and for watching until the end. That means a lot. I want you to know I see your support on my channel.
Way to get after it Noakes!
Thank you! Good to hear from you.
Such a cool series!
Thanks Kristine!
Well done Dan! Love that touch with your Dad at the end ... but the blasted giardia ... man that has hit me at the most inopportune times, and it's sucks! Anyway, congrats on the achievement, and you've inspired more to follow you I'm sure ...
Aw man, that means a lot. Thank you. I am so grateful for you and all the help spreading the word about my adventures in Idaho. I have you to thank! I put your name at the end credits, I hope you saw it.
Yes I did, thanks man!
Enjoyed the series. Would love to see more on the history of the people that lived in there before it was wilderness.
I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
I'm looking forward to watching the whole series, Dan. I've only watched little bits of each episode of this series, but I'm particularly intrigued by your adventure across "The Frank". I'm curious if you have ever skied off of Profile Gap area in some of your other adventures?
I have not skied off of Profile Gap. Have you?
@@DanNoakes I have not. I made an attempt to spring winter camp up there 15 years ago but couldn’t even get close after leaving Yellow Pine. Went back another time too late in the season with skis and the snow was far too sun cupped. Someday...
Killer series.
Thank you!
If by chance…. Hypothetically of course…. Freeriders were to come together, what would happen? Would anything by chance be formed? Asking for a friend
A unity would be formed, that can only be broken by the mountain’s fury itself.
Music is so serious.
It was a serious hike.
@@DanNoakes some hikes be like that.
