This is going to save me about 40.000 hours of rigging and tearing my hair out 🤩
And thats the magic number to save 😁😁😁
I see what you did there.
Gordon Bennett. That's the most well laid-out and thoroughly explained method of reposing solid STLs I've ever seen. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks so much 😁 That's very kind of you to say.
well, bloody hell, that tut was probably the best I've seen; I'am about 6 months of fiddling with Blender (nothing serious) and mainly use it to hack off bits from 1 stl so I can print a different arm and physicaly glue it on for a different pose...Man, you just opened Pandora's stl box!
Brilliant
That's very king of you to say. Glad to know it's going to give some more options 😁👍🏻
@@ArtisansofVaul I've been looking for this for years. This is amazing.
@@jtjames79 😁 Happy to help.
Holy crap- this is the single best tutorial I've EVER seen for Blender. What a game changer. This should be a pinned link on ANY 3-D modeling forum.
Thanks so much! I mean if it was a pinned link I'd never complain 😉
I've been making miniatures in blender for 4 years, and I didn't know you can use the pose brush with face sets for better results, and the kinematic trick is awesome! thank you very much
No problem. I really think this method doesn't get covered enough. I can see why as it isn't as useful for animation but for miniatures is so much more accessible and the workflow is much either.
same boat here. had no idea that the face sets feature was there. and my jaw dropped when he showed there was IK too. I always hated the pose brush because it never did what i wanted hahahaha
@CinderBlock331 It's function/reliance on faceseys doesnt feel very clearly labelled/indicated that's for sure! Glad this got you sorted 😁
How did you learn to make minis in Blender?
Bruh. This is so much better than rigging. I spent so much time rigging this rat I had sculpted so I can have different poses now I can just do this. You're the man!
Thanks Legion! There are some positives to rigging but I would say a lot of the time I use this or the Machin3 Tools trick depending on the project.
This is just about the clearest and easy to follow Blender tutorial i've ever watched! Definitely have a new subscriber!
Thanks so much. Really happy it's easy to follow as that can always be tricky with a tutorial.
@@ArtisansofVaul worked great on the first figure, now i cant get it to work on a second figure. Everything up to the initializing the UV seam worked, but the pose tool just wont move anything!
Amazing! I can't believe this is a thing you can just do in Blender with a brush!
Really clear and concise video. Straight to the point. Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks so much Mouse. Glad it's easy to follow.
I had no idea this could be done! This will definitely help add variety when you want to make large armies/warbands without identical poses! Thanks so much! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
No problem. It's a bit of a hidden function and I haven't seen it discussed much so thought it was worth a tutorial.
I love sculpting and making rendered scenes of characters or creatures, this is so helpful and exactly what I need, thank you. Retopology and rigging is so time consuming and useless for just making still images as this is so much quicker
😁 That's a great use for something like this and I totally agree, way faster than rigging for something like that.
FUUUUUUUK. Why didn’t you release this months ago? Omg all the time spent rigging.
Oh well I learned a lot about rigging and weights.
Thanks for the video and saving me more time and teaching all of us something new on blender.
Thanks so much. Learning how to rig is a good use of time, if you have a model in a T or A pose its often the better method, especially using rigify (that's the next video).
for real lol. I've spent so much time rigging.
@@ArtisansofVaul yup i can rig a lot of stuff now but i still have more to learn. yeah T and A pose are so easy to rig and add weights or using rigify makes it even easier. i look forward to your upcoming video so i can learn more and get better at it. while also being annoyed that id didnt know an easier way to do things
Learning rigging isn't a complete waste...
i can't wait to try this! Straight to the point with elaborate explanations! Love it!
😁 Hope it goes well 😁
That’s so incredibly useful! Would love to see more on kit bashing and combining parts
That could be fun. The issue if finding STL that I can use without it causing any issues/ getting creators permission.
Well, this is incredible. Rigging terrifies me. This is something I certainly want to practice.
👍🏻 Rigging can be really time consuming and I think with this as an option it can be quite unneeded
This method blew my mind!
😁 Glad to be able to show something new for people.
That was one of the clearest video lessons on posing in Blender I've seen. Thank you so much!
My pleasure. Thanks so much for watching and especially taking the time to comment 😁
By the gods, this is amazing. Thank you for the tutorial.
Cheers man 😁
I remember trying somthing like this a few years ago.
I completely butchered it.
Great video.
Hopefully this will give you some more success 👍🏻
Bloody hell. Instant subscription!
Thanks Gavin 😁👍🏻
Amazing stuff. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
My pleasure 😁😁😁
Thousand thanks for taking the time and effort of making these videos and sharing Your knowledge...
This is "wild", Blender is such a literal "Swiss Army Knife" of tools and techniques that it's impossible to know even a small fraction of all You can do with it. And this "technique" is imho far from only for people "working" with STLs but rather something every "3D generalist" should have "in their virtual tool belt".
Best regards.
Totally agree with everything you've said 👍🏻😁 I think Blender is such an amazing toolset, just a bit intimidating because of how much it can do
You make it sound easy. I'll give Blender a shot (again).
Don't get me wrong, Blender can be quite a lot (especially when starting out) but I do think (even if it's just used for this tool) it's worth having.
An excellent description of a complex process.
Cheers Darren 👍🏻😁
Your direction on this is exquisite! Thank you so much for taking the time to do so!
Cheers Daniel. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. It's always great to know the instructions have been clear 😁👌🏼
Cool model and great tutorial! Will be sure to give this a try!
Thanks so much Modge!
Wow. Im just getting into WH and am gonna start looking into kitbashing and this is the best thing ive seen for making some of those crazy model's for cusotms... Thank you. Clear and Concise. This is how all tutorials should go
Cheers Authmion. Kitbashing is a great way to get into things like 3D printing and Blender, it gives so much more options and customisability 😁
Very good tutorial mate. Cheers!
Thanks bulldog 👍🏻
Duuuuude! This is an AWESOME video! I had no idea you could do that so easily in blender! This will change my 3d-printing forever! Thank you SO MUCH!
😁😁😁 That's amazing to hear. Thanks.
If anyone is like me, and can't find the options and menu items being used... check your version of Blender. Almost everything looked and acted the same, but there was not 'face sets' option when I was in the sculpting tool. Upgraded to most recent version, and it's there. I guess this is a fairly recent feature.
Good tip 👌🏼 Thanks so much!
This is amazing. Thanks for showing us this.
My pleasure Owen. 😁
Excellent tutorial. Well done.
Thanks 😁 And thanks for taking the time to comment. Really appreciated!
You just blew my mind, gonna try this right away!
😁👍🏻 Hope it goes well!
I'm used to use blender to edit stuff and I didn't knew about this workflow
Hopefully it will help out 😁
Holy crap dude, you're the very first tutorial I've watched for Blender that actually has clicked. Thank you so much! I'm subscribed now, and will share your videos as much as possible!
Thanks so much for the sub. And glad you enjoyed the video 😁
Great video, I do a lot of printing and often think I’d like to change a few poses here and there, but I find blender almost a different language, this is the best video I’ve seen to help people use it better
Blender is pretty complex because there is just SO much to it. I think this is a great tool to dip your toe in as you can either start with this and try some other things in Blender too or just do this and export the created pose to another program you're more comfortable with.
Excellent tutorial, thank you!
Cheers 😁👍🏻
This was amazingly useful. I have struggled so hard on other projects and this was always an option!
Glad it's going to help you out 😁
This is a great tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Thanks so much Yolo! 😁👍
You are the gift that keeps on giving!
😁👍🏻Cheers Damian.
Man, this is a game changer for me! Thank you so much!
😁👍🏻
What a fantastic tutorial. Very informative, great explanations of keystrokes/menus, but still relatively concise. Definitely subscribing to your channel mate.
Thanks so much. Pace is always tricky to get right so it's awesome to know when people are happy with it 😁👍🏻
Awesome trick, awesome artisan.
👍🏻 Thanks 😁
Buddy your videos is amazing! This is just what i was looking for! Thank you for creating this great content!
Thanks so much 😁 Its always great to know its going to help out.
Extremely cool, thanks!
Cheers 😁👍
This is such a great tutorial. Clear, shows all the necessary steps, and remains to the point. Thank you!
Absolutely awesome!
Cheers man. And thanks again for the superthanks 👌🏼
excellent job illustrating almost endless editing capabilities!!
Cheers 😁 It does have such great potential!
Very useful tips! Ty so much!
Cheers 😁
A very fun tutorial, thankyou AOV.
Cheers 😁 And thankyou so much for the Super Thanks. Massively appreciated 👌🏼👍🏻
Wow. That´s great. That makes miniature printing much more fascinating. THX
😁 No problem. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
That was excellent 😀 makes me want to try blender again!
Give it a go! I know it seems a lot but once you get into it it's fantastic.
Hoły moly, this is one of the best made and useful tuts I’ve seen in long time.
What a compliment. Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it.
This video is fantastic. So much easier than what I was trying to do. Thank you for this.
My pleasure and glad I could help.
Game changing. Love this tutorial!
Thanks Mike 👌🏼
got my sub in 3 minutes, great stuff!
Thanks Dennis 😁
Wicked tutorial, I have never really done anything in your videos I just like watching them, but this will definitely come in useful and is something I have wondered about, great work, thanks
Glad I've given something to try out. Thanks so much for watching the videos 😁
Most helpful video I’ve ever seen on blender. Great job and certainly gives me the confidence to have a try myself!
😁👌🏼 Thanks so much
thanks a lot for the video, I didn't knew how to do it until now
😁👍🏻
You have changed everything!
😁
WOW this is such a game changer for me thanks.
😁 I thought the same when I found it. It's a great tool.
This is absolutely amazing as a tutorial. Thank you so much
Thanks Talosh 😁👍🏻
first thing to do in blender. delete the default cube. Classic xD
Always!
Thanks so much for this, I needed it
😁
You sir, just made my day! This is great, and will help me so much in the future!
😁 Glad it's going to be useful
Amazing video. Perfect combination of helpful information that is explained well in a concise manner.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. And a HUGE thanks for the Super Thanks 👌🏼
Instant sub! You lifesaver! THANK YOU!
Thanks Wolff. Really appreciated!
Great tutorial, Thxs, this will help immensely!
😁 Cheers
Game changer. Thanks for sharing this!!!
My pleasure 😁😁😁
Probably one of the most useful tutorials I've ever seen . Thank you so much!!!
Thanks so much 😁 That's very nice of you to say.
This is such a great video! I've been using blender for ages and never knew about this, I've been posing my minis with rigging all this time. This is gonna be a life saver
👍🏻 Nothing wrong with rigging at all but I generally think it's more for animation where as for sculpts this works well and (for me) seems faster.
You're the man bud, this was incredibly helpful.
Cheers Mike 😁👍🏻
awesome!
Nice to see you getting into minis, it's my hobby besides making video games as a job. Now I get tips for my work and my hobby
Haha. Always been into the mini side (that's what I use Blender for) but this seemed good as something more miniature/3D printing specific.
Oh my god, this is so helpful! I have been trying to brute force the pose brush for so long to get it to do this. Thank you so much for this video.
My pleasure. Glad it's going to help out. 👍🏻
Omg is this NEW ???? saved and going to test this tonight wow !!
Not new but I think its really lacking videos on it and showing its use
Absolute gamechanger. Liked, subscribed, favorited.
Thanks so much. And thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂
This is exactly what I needed! I've recently just learned about separating loose parts for kitbashing. Adding this to my arsenal will make my kitbashes better yet. Thanks so much!
😁 Awesome. Always great to hear I've helped someone out 👍🏻
Thanks, this is one of the best how to videos out there, even I have finally figured out how to use it to change the pose of the figures I use in my model cars. Thank you very much :)
😁 Thanks so much and glad I could help
This is great thanks. I was just mirroring models when I had 2 the same (I mostly do Blood Bowl Teams), but this is an absolute game changer.
😁 Thanks so much. Totally agree and with the mirroring trick it's so easy to make loads of poses.
Another amazing, useful tutorial!
Cheers man 😁👍🏻
Thank you bro, saved me this morning
😁 Awesome to hear. Thanks for watching, giving it a try and commenting
Thank you soo much for this vid, need to try it out. This opens a ton of possibilities.
10/10 would watch again 😜
Haha. Cheers man. You're right it really does, hope you enjoy what you can make with it!
Very helpful, thank you.
Cheers Nuke!
AWESOME! Thanks so much for this. Very helpful, indeed!
😁👍🏻 My pleasure and thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Really appreciated
Awesome. Thanks for doing the vid.
My pleasure. Thanks for commenting 😁
Really brilliant tutorial. You covered all necessary information without wasting time and it's really well delivered.
Keep it up! You now have a new subscriber 🎉
Awesome, thanks for watching and subscribing but especially for taking the time to comment 👌🏼😁
WOW, I use the pose tool often in my own work but i have never thought about reposing other minis.. this is a game changer. You opened up so many possibilities!! thank you as always!!
Cheers Emma 😁😁😁
Wow - so easy when you know which of Blender's tools to use. Thank you for explaining this so clearly - I'm definitely going to give it a go.
Awesome 😁Yeah, Blender is great, its just a matter of knowing what will complete the task you need - Which is often the hard part 😅
Fantastic tutorial!
One thing that always bothers me with 3d prints is having a bunch of repeat poses, so this is super great.
Totally the same. As you say this really helps solve that issue
Woah
😁👍🏻
Been trying to reuse previously sculpted limbs to make my work a bit more time efficient recently. Perfect timing to see this video because it's a lot quicker than all the other methods I've tried for tweaking posing to avoid obvious repetition. Keep up the great work!
Great that it's going to help put 😁
Wow! One of the best Blender tutorials covering a feature I've seen! I've been working with blender for about 5 years now and even though i rarely need to sculpt, the pose brush has always been a mystery to me. This video changed that, so thanks a lot!
Great to hear I can help out someone with experience. Really appreciate the compliment 😁
This was so awesome to see. I havent done any 3d modelling since I dabbled as a teenager and have been on the threshold of taking up 3d printing. Seeing how doable this is with existing files was so cool. Thank you!
Thanks. Honestly this is a great time to get into 3D printing. There's so many files out there and the printers are so much more reasonably priced
YES!!!!!! This is exactly what Ive been looking for! I can't wait to try it! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this!
My pleasure and thanks for taking the time to comment. Its really appreciated.
@@ArtisansofVaul No problem! I tried it last night and it worked great! You have definitely gained me as a subscriber! Thanks again, and please keep up the great work!
Buenísima lección, gracias.
😁👍🏻
Perfect timing!
Just got some Tyranid Models, which I thought could use some variety in their poses! :D
Great use for it! 👌🏼
BEST blender video ever. SUPER useful!!!
Thanks so much Edge!
This is amazing I will be able to repose a lot of STLs
Thanks 😁👍🏻 Great it will help
This is so cool. I have always struggled with rigging and it is no different in Blender, though most of what I do these days is for printing rather than game models, and this is the perfect way to get good pose control without all of the fuss of rigging for things that don't really need it.
Definetly!
Great tutorial!
Thanks 😁
SO USEFUL!
Cheers 😁👍🏻
I want to learn blender, but it seems so heavy to learn. Tutorials like these help!
Thanks. There is no denying it's a massive bit of software so it can be pretty intimidating. I found it really helped me to work on a project instead of trying to learn everything as it meant I had a focus.
