    Very good information. Thank you. We plan to visit Luang Prabang for one month stay while exploring the area.
    It is true about healthcare. My cousin was not feeling well when she was staying in Paksan. Went to hospital and they cannot do much for her there. Took the boat across to Thailand and they had the facility to address her pre stroke symptoms. They flew her to Bangkok and she had a double bypass in Bangkok. They they flew her back to France in business. She is now recovering and just taking it easy back in France.

      Yes, Laos still has a long way to go in terms of medical care and some others that are related to health issues. I'm glad that your cousin is saved now.

      I'd recommend Unitel. They provide the best service among all. And with the packages you can have from one week-15 days to one month. When you get the simcard, you can tell them for 15 days package. You can get the simcard at every phone store in town or on the main street, if you're in Luang Prabang.

      The other questions (for me): Which of these has the easiest visa situation/route to legally staying long term. I've been thinking about this a lot lately- it seems like the key is to not stay in one country for over 6 months- for tax, visa issues, etc. So maybe 4 months in each country per year. I have a friend who does something like this, although he has a solid income. I'm looking and looking for remote jobs that would facilitate moving there- especially Laos with the French cultural history part. Hard to imagine living on under $1000 per month but maybe it's possible.

  • @andrewbrann6231
    @andrewbrann6231 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Okay I know this video is older and I have a friend in Thailand that it requires 40,000 Thai baht to live there and I'm not retired. I've been back to Thailand twice and the lady I stay with is 3 hours from Laos. Simply what is the requirement monetarily to be able to stay in Laos per month permanently. Not how much I can survive on but how much is required to live there

    • @natnomad
      @natnomad  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It all depends on where you live and how comfortable you want to live. In Luang let's say if you rent a whole house per year it is roughly going to cost you between $3,500-$8,000. For monthly expenses if you have a budget of $600-$1,000 is plenty. Or less than that if you live local standard.

    • @andrewbrann6231
      @andrewbrann6231 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @natnomad no I mean how much is required by the government to show as proof of income? That's really all I need to know I don't think there's a requirement in the Philippines and you can stay 3 years by extending without a Visa leave for one day start over again. Thailand requires a certain amount to show in the bank and you have to show that in your bank or that it's coming in every month to legally live there. So is there a monetary required by the government amount that you have to show to legally stay in Laos?

    • @andrewbrann6231
      @andrewbrann6231 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @natnomad also I live in Tennessee on like average of 1,600 a month in the united states. I'm very good at being able to do stuff like that. But yeah I just needed to know what's required by the government to show by income to stay in Laos

    • @natnomad
      @natnomad  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not sure if you have to show your bank account. People just get their yearly visa and just live like that and then extend it as you wish.

    • @andrewbrann6231
      @andrewbrann6231 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @natnomad that's what I'm saying if you go to Thailand to be able to get a Visa or stay there under any circumstance you have to show I believe 40,000 baht per month going into your bank. An example I can give you is the Philippines you don't have to get a Visa at all. Most people will tell you to most people will even get mad at you if they purchase one of those expensive visas but Philippines is one of the places you can just keep extending for 3 years leave to the nearest country or get a throwaway ticket come back after one day and do it again over and over and over and never have to get a visa and there's no money requirements either they may be changing that because of how many foreigners sometimes end up homeless there. As far as I know you don't have to get a Visa at all in the Philippines. I'm just wondering if Laos is similar or if you do have to show income or what the rules are there. I want to be in Thailand but there's no way I can have $1,500 a month coming in I don't do any online job I don't have any teaching certificates or anything like that so it is more difficult in Thailand
