Most shells that fail to penetrate may "bounce" off the armor, crack or ricochet off. Some may imbed itself on to the armor but not go all the way through due to armor thickness. But as said, modern tank shells don't deflect as often which causes it to ususally just break apart if it can't even dent the armor which require a significantly superior material. Dorchester level II is what believed to be the most durable armor composition in service. And I assure you it doesn't ricochet shells. Let say such armor exsist, it'll be still vulnerable to tandem-charge HEAT warheads. HEAT warhead does not use the actual projectile to penetrate, it uses a supersonic stream of metal to do so which means it will ignore any deflection quality you have.

no, they cannot make an effective mech yet, those 2 made are slow and would be annihilated in seconds in real world combat. not to mention theyre next to immobile, clearly u live on fantasy island
+gsamalot I the case that what you say is true, you have to think about utility, an humanoid body is not useful at all, the movement with the legs is less eficient than the wheels or chains, the mechs should have some sort of balancing system or they will roll out with a minimum inclination. Also, making a mech capable of resisting a direct shot from a tank without damage would be almost impossible, due to the exposed limbs, and the plane form of the front, while a tank can easly get up to 45º slopes, resist some direct hits, depending on the type of armor, but the angled shape of the armor always help, and it's much easier to hide.
Um, nope, mobility is nill, and something standi g up is easy to knock down, u live in fantasy land. Go watch some real modern combat. Mechs are still at least 50 years away, at least ones that would be effective in combat

Armored vehicles are not made for two legs. Humans have enough trouble doing this sometimes, and we *_evolved over millennia_* to do so. Power armor/exoskeleton armor or suits are viable and alluring the military. Mechs are fantasy and will remain as such, no matter how badly you want them to curb stomp tanks and helicopters - they won't.
