Classroom? Yes, but I am thinking - my home. I grow veggies outdoors but these days the weather is so unreliable. These three indoor approaches are great. Start small and work up to the grow tent. :) Many thanks for the clear explanations and this wonderful video.

This is so cool, I’m not a teacher but considering setting something like this up in my basement for my own kids. Love how budget friendly it is.
This is so cool. I have thought about trying my hand at growing year round because I love the fresh vegetables and this has helped me so much
Cool. One idea for a class room setting is having two bins a clear and a solid color, that way you could put the clear bins out to show the kids the roots, and put them back in the solid bins before and after class to protect the roots from light damage. I would also get some clip on fans for air circulation.
This is really awesome. I grew up on a farm with a huge garden, but never learned anything so i just starting to learn and its so much fun. You are doing such a cool thing for your classroom.

Kids do have the patience if it's cultivated. I grew a huge crop of string beans when I was a kid. I tore up the grass, planted, watered, and harvested it all by myself. I got lucky that a fence in my back yard served as a trellis. Definitely start them with a simple thing and work them up towards having a long term crop. Excellent thing having that grow tent in the classroom.

thank you will be growing radishes in my apartment and this video has been the best because i dont have a balcony, backyard or window large enough to hang something but i do have indoor space and im going to grow something nice and be grateful for it :)

Foil wrap walls - double sided tape - glue - safety pins? ??
An array of lights wattage and price based etc
Mirrors and a small heater if the room does hold temperature
That way 100 large pots can supply annual harvests on repeat
Maybe buy a simple solar power kit for that room etc
Potatoes, corn , watermelon, tomatoes, peppers , carrots , onions , garlic etc etc etc etc
Timer the heater and lights - 2 hour morning 2 hour mid day etc for heater

Those led get hot and the fan in the led is for the light not for circulation.

I know this is for educational purposes but just a couple of things...
-Don't use storage bins they aren't food grade meaning that they leech plastic into the soil and into the plants.
-Try to stay away from LED's with fans as usually the fan motors burn out and can catch fire. Especially the older models. Get LEDs that are full spectrum and that lay on a heat sync. The heat sync disperses any heat generated from the lights evenly.
-Get a fan, always use a fan and monitor it/clean it regularly. Like I said, the motors on fans are the usual cause of fire.
- Keep all electrical off the ground- zip tie cords onto racks and no cords should be touching the ground. This is because if there is a spill of water it won't touch any electrical.
- All lights should be on a trip breaker- you can buy extension cords with a trip breaker and this is in the case any light/fan etc becomes ungrounded. It will trip the breaker before it electrocutes anyone. I have seen first hand why this is essential for indoor growing. The extension cords run about $12-$20 each but will save a life.
- Every once a month top dress (feed the plants) with a fertilizer. This will insure your plants get the required nutrients to grow.
- Clear bins are good but roots will stop growing if introduced to light. For educational purposes I would have one bin that is clear and (again) I recommend not eating stuff grown in that bin.
I don't want to alarm you or say what you are doing is wrong, looks great and educating kids on gardening is so much fun. I wanted to warn you of the things I spotted during your tour. My education is in Film but I recently went back to the University of Guelph for a few Agriculture courses. Have fun and thanks for teaching!
Most storage boxes are going to be polypropylene, same as typical Tupperware. I wouldn't want to suggest you don't know what you're talking about, but you sure come across that way.

It is possible to use a normal fertilizer, but it depends heavily on the nutrient requirements of the plants. It is important to adjust the fertilizer to your specific plants needs.
Is it food grade plastic? Cheap plastic tubs don't come at low cost.
I can see you have never bought any high end LED lights. They get very hot. Be careful anyone who watches this that you dont get burned if you buy too big of a light or a more powerful one. The LED lights today can get very warm and its also why they put big heat sinks and fans on them.
does she know roots dont like light ?
Only some of the roots are on the side, and they’d be getting such little light it wouldn’t really damage the plant. Plus if this is for a classroom, it could be a bonus educational moment
Um.. Yeah... The king led has fans to keep the chipboard cool.. To say they don't get hot is stretching the truth a bit..
I have two large LED lights. Small units like shown in this video do not generate a ton of heat but large ones absolutely get hot. Not as hot as incandescent, but still hot.
As long as we're going for a full on example of Cunningham's Law here - the fan in the LED unit serves two purposes: cooling the led's themselves as that extends the operating life for each diode, as well as cooling the switching power supply that turns 120v into 12v to supply the lights themselves. Somebody else out there, feel free to correct me, this is the internet after all

I started with cannabis 10 years ago, then i started growing vegetables because i wanted a quicker harvest and fresh things to eat when i get da munchies

Man made soil that’s engineered to ensure plant health and growth is safer and less likely to contain bugs then dirt you find outside
