I possess the DVD of Buenos Aires (Decades). It is great but sometimes the sound is not so good. What I especially love about the Buenos Aires concert is the enthusiastic reaction of the audience.
Yes! It's a stunning song. Emppu's solo is incredible and the backdrop of the boy and the swan is heartbreaking. In Finnish mythology, the underworld (Tuonela) is separated from the rest of the world by a raging river. The river is guarded by a black swan that sings death spells. FYI, the music video doesn't have close captions, so it would be a good idea to have the lyrics handy.
Floor is very down to earth and nice. It really comes through in the documentary-style videos out there about her, in her day-in-the-life sort of videos on her TH-cam channel, and in her own reaction video for Ghost Love Score (which is great).
Much of the difference is that many of the songs in this concert were actually written for Floor to sing, rather than one of the previous two singers. But you can also see that they were feeding off the energy of the audience, who was fired up!
Marko is playing a Warwick Buzzard Bass. This is the best video of this song. Mind you wacken, is German pronounced Vacken, is the gold standard for Nightwish.
Sorry, please excuse me but that is not a Warwick Buzzard bass, which Marko does often play and was designed by the late John Entwistle of The Who, it is a Warwick Vampyre here. All Warwick basses have the tuning pegs set back at an angle making them an easier reach and are always on both sides of the headstock except for the Buzzard which has them all along one side. Marko's Buzzard is brown also, where as his Vampyre here is a turquoise blue.
@@craigbolton5093 true but at that time that is all there was. wacken is the gold standard due to the quality of filming and sound. The impressive amount of enjoyment between all the members of the band and the audience is amazing.
Oh, of course Wacken is phenomenal! It's just that so many reactors seem to be unaware that there is new stuff, composed for Floors particular skill set.@@haroldcrown5541
Troy's Uilleann (ill-en) pipes allow him to sing because they use a bellows, squeezed by the elbow, to inflate the bag. Uilleann is the Gaelic word for elbow. This Buenos Aires 2018 concert was part of the Decades tour, where they played a lot of older Tarja era songs, although this one is Anette era. Maybe the most fun version of this song. Floor dancing all over the stage, and she wasn't 100% here, she had been sick with the flu a show or 2 before this. They played this song on the last tour, with Troy taking over most of Marko's vocal lines, and no 3rd harmony.
Donna is AWESOME, and I love her accent. I'm from south Georgia so I might have a little accent myself. I love your reactions, and I love that you think a lot of the music is AWESOME...so don't pay attention to those that think you say awesome too much...I mean, if the music is awesome, well, it's awesome and so are you ladies. Tell, little Lulu to get well soon because she's awesome as well. And Troy is playing the Uilleann Pipes or Elbow Pipes or they are also known as The Irish Bagpipes. Besides singing, Troy also seems to play which ever instrument he picks up...well, almost!!! Good job ladies.
The instrument that Troy Donockley uses is bagpipes. He is a multi-instrumentalist. Nightwish is so awasome. The concert took place in Argentina. Greeting from Venezuela.
Yes,however unlike the Scottish bagpipes which are inflated by breath, the Uillean pipes are inflated by a bellows actioned by the players elbow, hence the name, 'Elbow Pipes'. !!
Hello again, Ladies. Carol, my lovely wife of 42 years, and i got to travel from Phoenix to see them perform live at the historic Warfield Theater in San Francisco on May 18th, 2022. The show was so incredible and fun from waiting in the line down the street to get in until the very end. What a band! This Buenos Aires 2018 concert was another of their many spectacular shows over the years... every song was amazing. In my not-so-humble opinion, they get better every year together. I loved your reactions and hope to see more of these Nightwish Live reactions from you soon.
This was a song from their 2011 concept album 'Imaginaerum' ... The story on the record depicts an old man who used to be a fantasy story writer who created this imaginary fantasy world ... However, he is nearing death and being cared for by his daughter... So, Marco depicted the old writer and the female vocals (which was Anette Olzen on the album) depicted the daughter reading his stories to him which allows him to revisit his imaginary world once more... The album starts w/ Marco singing in Finnish on 'Taikatlvi'... and then kicks off w/ 'Storytime' which is the daughter reading to him.... 'I want my tears back' ... is wishing to experience (tears of) joy again.
Wishing better health to Lulu from Finland, the origin place of Nightwish. This perfectly shows how the language of music is international, the singer from the Netherlands, the multi-instrumentalist from England, the rest of the band from Finland, the crowd from Argentina. And a hell of a dance! They are doing more than their job, they are experiencing life.
I'd really like to see you all react to the Shoemaker official lyric vid. You'll hear a side of Floor you've yet to explore. All you've done so far are songs that were written for the 2 previous singers. It's time to start hearing what Tuomas came up with writing specifically with Floor's many talents in mind. Shoemaker is a personal favourite about Eugine Shoemaker, known as the father of planetary science and the only person, so far, to have their ashes sent to the moon. There is a spoken word piece in the song, written by Shakespeare and spoken by Tuomas' wife, that was engraved on the urn. This is a song that sends shivers through your body and even brings a tear to the eye. Pure artistic beauty and Floor, eell, she's just "amazing!"
Floor’s presence and superb talent and the bands perfectionist live performances are second to none. They always amaze on all levels 🤘🤘 Riding the Nightwish express. It takes you away. You don’t know where they’ll take you but you know it going to be friggin’ epic.🤘🤘
Just for fun, you might seek out a fan-shot clip of this performance, where Floor chases Emppu around the stage "trying" to get him to dance with her, and he flees to Troy's podium to "escape" her. Fun stuff.
Buenos Aires is the live album for the Decades Tour, celebrating the band's 20th anniversary. They played a lot of old songs again. This song is relatively new, from the Imaginaerum album 2011. Because it is also film music, it is very diverse. Here is a jazz number: Nightwish - Slow Love Slow live Montreux Jazz Festival 2012 HQ Jazz is not new for Tuomas. At school he was in the school jazz band.
Glad to see your feeling better Kathy, you ladies should check out The Nightwish version of Phantom of the opera, it features the original singer Tarja
If you want to hear some early Nightwish, there are two songs that were performed live in a tv chart show in 1999. The songs are "Gethsemane" and "Sacrament of Wilderness". The first song I ever heard from Nightwish was "Sleepwalker" in the Eurovision 2000.
Great reaction! One of the best things about Nightwish has always been that they are artistically very brave - always ready to try new things. Tuomas was very young when he told the fanbase that expect different things, that they'll not do just same things in every new album. I have always loved that.
Marco plays bass guitar. Troy (who is also singing here and was hired when Floor was) plays many instruments. Here he is playing the Uilleann Pipes, a smaller variant of bagpipes. Uilleann pipes (elbow pipes) pump air into the bladder using the elbow, whereas bagpipes require air to be blown into the bladder by the person playing. Troy also plays two different whistles (vertical flutes - what we call flutes are played to the side - both whistles and flutes are part of the flute family). Troy also plays several other instruments like guitars and such.
Troy plays the Irish bagpipes. (Uilleann pipes). It has a bit more friendly sound than the Scotish bagpipes. Troy said: "Scotish bagpipes are for war and Irish bagpipes are for story telling."
Genius deep lyrics and message again by Tuomas (if not always). People need tears too. Troy plays Ulliean pipes and plenty of other instruments. There are plenty of backstage material where they talk and show true nature....just keep going cause material is plenty.
This song is about regaining the innocence of youth when each new experience could bring tears of joy. This is the best concert by a country mile. You should do all this one by one. Dead Boy's Poem and Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (Marco and Floor) are both in my top 6 and both from Buenos Aires 2018. Tuomas says South American audiences are the most enthusiastic. Here's a comment from Marco: "Floor handled it the best. When the fans were wreaking havoc at the hotel lobby, she just sternly said: " Hey, people, it doesn't work like this - please get in line, and everybody will get their photo and autograph." I'll be damned the disorderly fans actually obeyed her. That's a huge accomplishment in South America" Troy is playing Uilleann Pipes, the Irish Elbow Pipes.
Hope Lulu gets better soon. The Soccer chant! Floor dancing in high heels! Troy on the Uilleann, "ill-ian" pipes. Emppu, looking over at Floor :) Marko, Troy and Floor singing... Emppu joining Troy for some jamming. Yes, it's still awesome!
The temperature at this concert was so hot that water was being passed around. When you are on stage, the spot lights are EXTREMELY hot and can raise the temps 30 degrees Fahrenheit. When the room is already 100F, you need water and ventilation via fans (mostly blowing heat out of the ceiling). Buenos Aires audience fans are extremely loyal to NW.
Yes so good hearing Troy on the Irish bagpipes and his backing vocals. Floor dancing on stage with 3 inch heels not tripping on cables is a task on it's own.
I just love it when a band is having pure fun on stage, and not doing their stuff like; "Ohh well, it's just another gig, we're getting payed for". This performance is pure fun for the band aswell as for the fans, the interaction between them is priceless! Ohh and btw, "that instrument", Troy Donockley is playing is called; the Uilleann Pipes [Illean Pipes], also known as the Irish bagpipes. The major difference between the Scottish bagpipes is, Scottish bagpipes are played while standing up, and you blow into the mouthpiece. On the other hand, the Irish variants are played while sitting down, and their bellows blowdown. These bellows are right underneath the dominant arm of the player. Another difference between the two is that the Uilleann pipes sound not as harsh as the Scottish bagpipes.
There is no song I don't love from Nightwish. Thanks ladies! They are releasing a new album soon, so there will be a tour! You have to go, it's magical
Nice Reaction! The crowds in Argentina are second to none! Even the girls of The Warning agree with each other about the crowds there! Tell Lulu we miss her and to get well soon!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I had specifically requested this version because of the crowd interaction! I'm glad you like my name too, Donna! I picked it because my real name is Matt and I've had people say that I look a bit like the singer Meatloaf so therefore, MattLoaf! Looking forward to watching more reactions from you and get well soon, Lulu!
Great reaction as always ladies, and Donna, say awesome just as much as you want, it's pretty accurate with Nightwish for sure. Best wishes to Lulu, hope she feels better soon 🤘🤘🤘
honestly, never cut down on the "awesome" cause that's what they're are, and I agree there are just not enough or just any better words to describe them, I think.... I'm from Germany, so I tend to use "awesome" a lot too, cause I'm like well that's the word I know and that's what this band is
Great reaction as always. This is a bit newer concert than Wacken. AWESOME as well. I have seen Nightwish live three times, and I can tell it's a great live experience. Sadly they are taking a break from touring. But they are making new music which is out later this year.
Troy plays Eulleian pipes, an Irish version of the bagpipes of Scotland, but not airfed with breath, but from bellows powered by the elbows.. roughly translated "elbowpipes"
Children sense the potential for magic while adults become disillusioned by experience. Things become different instead of new and interesting. Keep the imagination and wonder alive. Use your illusion, as someone I once knew said several times, and keep the innocence and hope for magic! This was magic. Floor could barely stand unaided about 30 minutes before the show.... Troy to the rescue!
I think you would really love a female fronted swedish band called Brothers of Metal and their song Kaunaz Dagaz. They have 3 vocalists, 2 guys and Ylva Eriksson. And I swear, you will be surprised the moment she opens her mouth. They play some Nordic viking metal with lyrics about Odin, Thor, Ragnarök, battles and voyages over the sea.
Checkout nightwish "Islander' or 'while your lips are still red' and you will hear how amazing Markos voice can be when he sings much softer :D great reaction
You see concert are about having fun on both sides of the spectrum! Floor dancing and singing while she does it, it's not like that crap you get at the Grammy's, MTV music awards or any of that where the singer has their dancer's trying to cop a feel in there routine, this is how it is suppose to be! P.S. I hope Lulu is feeling better! Blessed be to you all!🌹🌹🌹
Hi In the Wacken Version Emppu goes behind Floor and un plugs her inner ears. At this concert Floor was sick with the Flu at the beginning of the tour. She was almost recovered here. You should react to the Bogata Video Floor had a fever before the concert. She didn't think she could pull off the high note at the end.
South America, Argentina, Buenos Aires, 2018 Decades tour, the crowds Soccer-chant welcome! How does Floor do a Dutch jig in those high heels? Mad March Hare, Alice in Wonderland! The voice of Mary Costa? Snow White in the Disney film. Better stage lighting. Troy Donockley, backing vocals, the British multi-instrumentalist, jamming with Emppu :) Woo Hoo!
People rightly always talk about Wacken 2013, but in my opinion the whole Buenos Aires 2018 Decades tour show is on another level again.
Yep, awesome performance, and it's cool to see older songs from Tarja performed by Floor as well.
The "Slaying the Dreamer" w/Floor from Buenos Aires is amazing.
I possess the DVD of Buenos Aires (Decades). It is great but sometimes the sound is not so good. What I especially love about the Buenos Aires concert is the enthusiastic reaction of the audience.
Troy plays irish elbow pipes, Uilleann pipes. And many other instruments.
This is how a metal singer dances. No choreographed routine, no silly background dancers dressed as Liquorice Allsorts. Just natural.
And in some videos she tries to get Emppu (the guitarist) to dance as well - but he'd rather run off the stage......
Dead boy’s poem same venue one of my favorites
Yes! It's a stunning song. Emppu's solo is incredible and the backdrop of the boy and the swan is heartbreaking. In Finnish mythology, the underworld (Tuonela) is separated from the rest of the world by a raging river. The river is guarded by a black swan that sings death spells.

A lot of differents between 2013, and 2018. Shows How they have matured, playing together, and singing together. Glad to see this one. More please.
The audiance is singing a variant on a football-yell encouriging their team. Now they hailed Nightwish.
That was great, so heart warming.
hi, if you like Marco singing there is a tribute to Pink Floyd's - High hopes from Nightwish.
Much of the difference is that many of the songs in this concert were actually written for Floor to sing, rather than one of the previous two singers. But you can also see that they were feeding off the energy of the audience, who was fired up!
Their shows are usually best viewed from start to finish, the Buenos Aires concert is a special setlist hope you enjoy!
If you listen to Nightwish, you will realize that not a single song sounds the same. This keeps you alert at all times.🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶
nightwish - ghost river is a good one to hear both them sing together ....Great reaction ...Nightwish is a great band

And I swear, you will be surprised the moment she opens her mouth.
They play some Nordic viking metal with lyrics about Odin, Thor, Ragnarök, battles and voyages over the sea.
So that was our Valkyrie Queen.
Ladies say what you want it really doesn't matter, great reaction 🇬🇧
Listen to nightwish's song "Harvest" the vocal are from Troy, the pipes player. Is really cool
I love kathy speaking tone❤❤❤😂😂
Thanks
Checkout nightwish "Islander' or 'while your lips are still red' and you will hear how amazing Markos voice can be when he sings much softer :D great reaction
👍👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘❤️❤️
Great reaction 😮😮
Nightwish is pure dopamine !
There is good documents of Nightwish or Floor. You should check some of those. "Making 8th album" give you good picture how they work.
She didn't think she could pull off the high note at the end.
great reaction love you :)
You're the best!

The voice of Mary Costa? Snow White in the Disney film.
